| There are 2 different mini figure goblets, 1 with the bottom lip-last seen in
the mid 90s? And the goblet without the bottom lip-seen today. Is it possible
to update all sets with these parts to the correct variant? For collection purposes,
part variants are a thing.

This part is on the enormous list of unsplit part variants in the BrickLink catalog:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogRelCat.asp?relID=24
There is no current plan to split this part.

Mixing eras and variants is supposedly a thing now?

It always has been for lots of parts. Past admins split parts that they wanted
to and didn't split others that they didn't want to. Until last year,
we had no documentation of parts in the catalog that had variants that were never
split. Now we have one, and it shows that the number of variants that are not
split into separate variant entries is **HUGE**. Any part in that list may or
may not ever be split, because every split that occurs creates a large amount
of work for admins, inventories, sellers, etc.
