We have received over 200,000 New Light Gray bricks we were able to acquire from
one of our Lego contacts. They are 100% new Lego and are sourced directly from
a reputable source. Some of these parts are quite old and many are still in bags
directly from Lego with production dates. What would be the best way to list
these in terms of a description. Some of the younger generation is unware of
Light Gray and Light bluish Gray as being different. So I am hoping I could get
some ideas on what to put in the item description/extended description to accurately
describe these items to prevent any headaches down the road. I have attached
some photos of the parts

Thanks

There are different color names, if someone is purchasing then based on "it's
gray enough" only then I don't think they will mind the difference.

That said, these picture represent my greatest nightmare, I do not want to have
to deal with Old Light/Dark Gray anymore. Please relieve me of them in my store.

I would be wary about listing anything as new if you don't have proof that
it's new. Acquiring from a reputable source isn't proof to me. If it's
still in the original packaging, then of course it's new, but unless you
open it yourself, I'm not sure how you can claim something is new.

As for listing them for sale on Bricklink, no description is needed. Just set
the color to light gray.

Yes. I read his post. That’s why I said those would be fine to post as new. Ones
that “come from a reputable source” I personally would not list as new if they’re
already opened.

Wow, that is magnificent.

I have used this as a description:

Original light gray, NOT light bluish gray.

If they came out of a parts pack I reference that:

https://store.bricklink.com/zorbanj?p=zorbanj&itemID=172818293#/shop?o={%22invID%22:%22172818293%22}

I have seen descriptions that say old light gray or discontinued light gray but
I wouldn't use these as they have negative connotations.

Could you post on the forum when you get this listed?

Why do you need a description? Light gray is a color choice when listing. I’d
be pretty surprised if someone accidentally bought light grey instead of bluish
grey. Seems about as likely as someone buying dark blue instead of blue.

Guess it doesn't hurt to add a description... better to over-communicate
in your listing.

Exactly, it's a one sentence description that puts everyone on the same page....hopefully

I had to educate some buyers about the Light Gray color change in 2003, as I
received messages about some gray parts in their orders being too yellowed...
they were buying both colors without noticing. It always ended well though.

It would make sense to add a note that these are confirmed old lt gray. Otherwise,
given the large quantities, folks might think you have them listed in the wrong
color. If it was just a handful of parts, I wouldn't bother.
Maybe mention something on the splash page too.
Cool get

As someone in the process of modernizing my old castle set pieces to build a
64 x 64 x 64 castle (complete with an iron mine beneath it that opens up) I would
be interested in probably 40,000 1x’s.
