I just obtained an Indominus rex figure in a large lot I purchased (Jurassic
World set 75919). The spots are more of a darker bluish gray whereas the descriptions
on Brick link state light bluish gray. Are there variations in color? Does
anyone know if there are Lego markings on the figure to verify authenticity?
Any knockoffs to be aware of? Thanks

There are several Lego markings on the IR.
All studs on the body should have Lego on it, most, if not all, other parts are
marked too.
I am not at home so I cannot precisely check the details but I know that these
larger dinosaurs have several marked parts like the studs, the legs, arms etc.
There are even some printed marks on the legs and/or body if I am correct.
If you don’t have a mark it is a knockoff and they are in various sorts like
different sizes of the IR, different colors etc.

The color names have been adjusted.

Cheers,

Here’s mine to show color next to lbg and dbg, should be slightly darker than
the former. Also the LEGO group logo can be found between the legs on the bottom
of it. Oddly enough, mine says 2010. (The logo is also on top of the main body’s
studs.)

That part is several parts glued together.

Part No: TRex02 Name: Dinosaur Tyrannosaurus rex with Dark Red Back
*
trex02 (Inv) Dinosaur Tyrannosaurus rex with Dark Red Back
Parts: Animal, Dinosaur
came out in 2012 and that's
a pretty normal lead time. For Indominus Rex, they changed the back to put the
spikes on it, but the belly is the same piece that T-Rex had used a lot of times
by then.

Two years seems pretty far ahead to start production

The date on the part is the copyright date for the design, not when it was manufactured.
The parts are always designed and copyrighted at least a year before production
ever gets started.

I see that lead time a lot on things like new Ninjago hats and superhero hats.
I usually find the year by accident before I find the part number because the
year is bigger.
