Please forgive me for the noob question; I can't for the life of me figure
out how to pull the stock photo for a part. So take
 
Part No: 18031  Name: Minifigure, Weapon Sword, Greatsword Pointed with Thick Crossguard

18031 Minifigure, Weapon Sword, Greatsword Pointed with Thick Crossguard
Parts: Minifigure, Weapon
It is now in white
#6351361. I know when you upload inventory for a set, it can do an auto-complete,
and pulls in new colours for parts as well (so the ID gets associated to the
general part # if I understand it correctly). So for existing parts, do we have
to manually upload the stock LEGO image, or is there another way we associate
the EID to the part to make it pull from LEGO automagically? Thanks!

You have to pull the stock image yourself and manually upload it here on BrickLink.
