Hello

I've just added part

Part No: crssprt01pb71 Name: Brick 1 x 8 without Bottom Tubes with Cross Side Supports with Red 'POMPIERI' Pattern
*
crssprt01pb71 Brick 1 x 8 without Bottom Tubes with Cross Side Supports with Red 'POMPIERI' Pattern
Parts: Brick, Decorated
to the catalog. I suspect it came
in set

Set No: 308 Name: Fire Station
*
308-3 (Inv) Fire Station
111 Parts, 1958
Sets: Classic: Town Plan: Fire
like the other localized fire station prints. But that inventory
makes me question the existence of some of the bricks in it. Facts:

1) This set was released in 1958. It's unknown to me for how long it was
produced.
2) Part 3008 has first appearance in 1961.
3) All the 1x8 (and 1x6) bricks without print in the set are without bottom tubes,
i.e. NOT 3008.
4) The inventory states 4 different 3008 bricks with print, the others are based
on bricks without bottom tubes.

That leaves me with this question: Do parts

Part No: 3008pb025 Name: Brick 1 x 8 with Red 'FIRE STATION' Thin Pattern
*
3008pb025 Brick 1 x 8 with Red 'FIRE STATION' Thin Pattern
Parts: Brick, Decorated
[P=3008pb074]
[P=3008pb085]

Part No: 3008pb086 Name: Brick 1 x 8 with Red 'POMPIERS' Pattern
*
3008pb086 Brick 1 x 8 with Red 'POMPIERS' Pattern
Parts: Brick, Decorated

actually exist?

These parts only come in this set and other sets produced in 1957/1958. I suspect
that they're actually cross support versions, not printed 3008's. Most
of the pictures on the parts don't show the bottoms, so I can't prove
this. BUT: The image of

[P=3008pb085]

shows the bottom, and no bottom tubes are visible. Also, there is a slight irregularity
in the bottom of the brick in the right side, which are often found in the cross
support bricks. See example image below.

I suggest that the 3008 parts mentioned above (or at least the "POMPIERI" version)
are marked for deletion until someone can proove that they exist and upload new
pictures showing the bottom.

Any thoughts on this?

/Jan

Why don't we just correct the existing catalog entries instead? You can
do this by requesting title and item number changes through the change request
form.

*
3008pb025 Brick 1 x 8 with Red 'FIRE STATION' Thin Pattern

This is probably a duplicate entry for this item and could be merged with it:

Part No: crssprt01pb52 Name: Brick 1 x 8 without Bottom Tubes with Cross Side Supports with Red 'FIRE STATION' Thin Pattern
*
crssprt01pb52 Brick 1 x 8 without Bottom Tubes with Cross Side Supports with Red 'FIRE STATION' Thin Pattern
Parts: Brick, Decorated

Before we do that, try contacting the sellers who have the item for sale and
checking to see if any of them have an alternate version.

For this one, also contact sellers. One seller has an actual photo of the part
for sale showing the version you describe.

This could be changed now.

Thank you. I'll start contacting sellers and make updates to the catalog
based on answers. It might take a few weeks.

I have contacted some sellers. Both types seem to exist, so I will not change
anything here.

I have contacted all sellers. All but one has replied that they have cross supports
or their image already shows cross supports. The last seller has read my message
but not responded. I'll therefore assume that this part only exists with
cross supports and request a change to the catalog. Someone should upload a new
image showing the bottom. I don't have the brick so I can't do it.

I will request this to be done.

I don't have any information on this part. Because the English version exists
in both versions, I have no way of knowing if this one has cross supports or
bottom tubes, so I won't suggest a change.
