Variant Merge - How do I sort this out after being close for a couple years.
I had always hoped to reopen when my elderly parent caregiver roll had ended.
I feel like it's just not worth the bother to merge or update all these parts
with "notes" of variants. That's quite ridiculous. I don't know
what the push is, but this is certainly pushing me to the point of - is it worth
my time?

This is a very bad, generic move - the catalog was awesome, now no more.

Really. I'm not sure what to do to keep my inventory current now.
Apparently, I've missed a lot.

It's annoying but if your scenario is like me (i think so) then youre gonna
have to wait 30 days before being able to change it.

I don't get it, why wait 30 days. The Admin post with the link encouraging
us to do so and saying it's easy, ha, didn't believe that and I was right.

Good luck mate,

Can't back space, over type - no way to get it to be my BL user name. Yes,
I'm on the edit page of lego.com

So what do I do to change it??

You are very strong and caring to do this! It must be very hard when there are
those who could help but won't.

Take care and be well,
Jen

Thanks Jen - it is hard. I actually had to tell, not ask, my older sister to
visit her on Mother's Day, as I'll be staying home with my family - who
she helps financially quite a lot. That she wouldn't think to do this on
her own amazes me.

Good luck to you. I know the demands of caring for others. I had my mentality
and physically handicapped brother-in-law. My time was no longer my time. He
was a handful and died when Covid just started. He was one of the reason I sold
my little Lego collection. It was worth it.
Your mother is very lucky she has a good child. You will be proud of what you
are doing. Caring for another person (or a cat) is what fuels one’s soul and
makes a life worthwhile.
John P

Churchill: “You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”

Thanks John P - I had no idea you were going through that. I remember when you
decided to sell your collection. I will do my best for her, as always - but living
30 minutes away causes a great deal of anxiety - her mobility is not good these
days. You question, am I doing the right thing, constantly.

What you're doing for your mother is supremely difficult in ways beyond simple
exhaustion or the disruption of personal needs and desires. Some of these difficulties
will only become apparent after she's left you, Judith. Psychologically taxing
caring for another as they fadeaway, much more so for a parent or child.

I’m eager to learn what you might learn during with this BL-hiatus:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1161196 Please share when it's time.

… But my hope is that you’ll make the effort to stay involved in what’s been
in a sense, your forum of the last 15 years. It can be a good place to find a
little solace

The subject of caring for me when it’s my time, came up for the first time between
my kids and I, some time ago. Of course, I tried to make light of the fact that
dad's not gonna be around forever, by saying something like “no biggie, just
find a decent raisin ranch to stick me in” Neither my son nor daughter appreciated
the humor at all. In fact, my daughter upset and with a stern voice, declared
“You’re living with us, dad!" Subject dropped

After spending years sheltering them, parents never want to see their children
burdened, even when grown. To then perceive oneself to be that burden… very difficult.

-Cory

Great message Cory! I can't believe you found that thread - I had completely
forgotten about it and that point in time - rereading it was a great reminder
to me (with my own words, lol) to try and find balance.

My husband and I have made those jokes with our son of our demise. Typical sense
of his dark humor response - "It's okay, I'll just put you in a home."
And I hope he really does when the time comes. I don't want to put any of
this on him.

Mom passed a few days ago, aged 83.

I understand, and don't worry about this, in the end, here it's minor.
But you'll be missed and welcome any time.

Wishing you the best -

Sylvain

I'm so sorry Sylvain - you can think you're prepared but the truth is,
you're never prepared for that day.

Thanks Stuart - her timeline will determine all. Have to say, when you have 3

I could never let her down, I'm all she has now.

So sad to see you go, I know a lot of the "Older" Wiser memebrs of Bricklnik
have helped me alot in my own business, and have helped me to enjoy lego more,
hope to see you on here soon.

Thanks, NG

Thanks for that, I will be on the forum to get the latest changes and be helpful
where I can - it's the last saving sanity for me, lol

Hello All,

It's with a heavy heart that I am forced to leave you all for a while. No
idea in the foreseeable future when I will back. Know I will miss this place,
the members and playing with Lego!

If you aren't there already, many of you will be one day. I am in pretty
intense elder care mode. I have been for 10+ years, but with age comes the increasing
need for intervention in all things. My mother just turned 94, amazing. She still
lives alone in our family home and I want to keep it that way until I/she can't.
It is a pretty exhausting time and emotionally intensive job. What was 1 day
a week is now 4, and constantly on call for problems. The home infrastructure
is also crumbling - so scrambling for contractors for many issues - and we all
know the pain that can be.

One day, I will have time again and hoping I still have the stamina/knowledge
to make a presence once more.

all the best, Judith

It is what's termed "Order Total" within the order detail page, the fee percentage
is applied.

Just went through and did some calculations on orders to confirm, just in case
I'm behind on updates

Thank you, was double checking as I seem to remember a lot of dialogue concerning
fees taken on the sale tax when it first began. Just want to be accurate for
keeping track.

$0 USD - $500 USD 3% of the Order Total

$500 USD - $1,000 USD 3% of the initial $500 ($15)
plus 2% of the remaining total

Over $1,000 USD 3% of the initial $500 ($15)

He has a lot of the old star wars sets using the old light gray and old dark
gray - all in display condition - he built and displayed and didn't really
play with them. I looked up the at-at 4483 set and there's only been one
sale in six months for $224 not in US - ebay is worse at average $90. Yet the
part out value is $388. I am really at odds for the best option to make my son
some $$ for school loans. What is the best way to go here? Looking for advice.

There are definitely collectors for parts in the old grays. The printed dish
pieces in this set tend to go for a good bit of money. This set is much harder
to sell nowadays, especially given that there have been many AT-AT models released
over the last few years. Parting it out might only guarantee the sale of a few
of the more desirable parts, so you may be holding onto other more common parts
for a while.

Yes, you’re quite right, so many newer versions. I guess this one is destined
for parts, too bad, I actually prefer this older version.

Some small amount of advise, Judith: check your son's set for this helmet's
print, trapezoid or full triangle?

Part No: 30408px3 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Helmet SW Stormtrooper, AT-AT Driver Pattern

30408px3 Minifigure, Headgear Helmet SW Stormtrooper, AT-AT Driver Pattern

Thanks for that Cory, I wouldn’t have known there was a variation.
