Hi,

I try to optimise the storage of my parts. To do this, I am using the EB-AFIT
Pallet Loading Algorithm. Actually, I determine the dimensions of the parts by
converting the studs. Some Parts have no dimensions in stud but have packing
dimensions, for exemple :

Part No: 2780 Name: Technic, Pin with Short Friction Ridges
*
2780 Technic, Pin with Short Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin {Black}

The XML file of my inventory (downloaded from https://www.bricklink.com/invExcel.asp)
contains only the dimensions of the parts are expressed in stud. I've also
checked in the API, the dimensions are also expressed in stud.

It will be great to retrieve packing dimensions through an exportation tool.

Thanks for your reading, regards.
Jérôme

I asked the question below a week ago. An now, I asked the same question again
and the answer is very interesting:

How can I use the BrickLink API in a Java program ?

(copied partially): First, you will need to obtain an API key from BrickLink.
You can request an API key by visiting the BrickLink Developer Portal (https://developers.bricklink.com/).

I retried a third time, always with the same question. Here is a (better) start
of answer:

Obtain an API key: In order to use the BrickLink API, you will need to obtain
an API key. You can request an API key by filling out the form at the following
URL: https://api.bricklink.com/register.html

Ok, I give up with ChatGPT, I will do by myself

While storing the extra parts, I discovered that the one I had did not match the current inventory of the set.

Do you still have the box and if so, could you give us the Factory Production
Code / Seal Code? This code can be printed on the box or on the seals. Examples
are 514H1 / 20S2

Thanks,
Diana

Hi Diana,

Sorry for the long delay, I totally missed your reply until now...

I do not have the box anymore. I only can send you photos of my mounted set.

Parts: Electric, Train {Black}

All adapters I have found have an output tension of 9V (not 10V) but I don't
think it is a problem.

My main interrogation is about the output current. 45539 and 70928 have an output
of 700mA. All adapters I can buy have output current of 600mA or 1000mA. I will
use it to run GBC modules. Do you think the 1000mA can break something in the
regulator ?

Thanks in advance !

Regards,

The ability to supply too high a current is fine. It can supply up to 1000mA
maximum, that doesn't mean it will force 1000mA at all times. You could probably
get away with the slightly lower one too, although that will be more likely to
overheat if worked continuously such as in a GBC.

Thanks for your clear answer !

Hi,

I had the same problem when I shipped a parcel to Finland. I asked the Swiss
Post if I made anything wrong but they told me that the IOSS were entered correctly.

I sent every information needed, so the buyer could declare himself the parcel.

The buyer and myself have lost a lot of time to get the issue resolved. The Swiss
and the Finnish post have always said the other were faulty…

Hello,

(I've searched for an existing ticket but I did not find any. If I missed
it, sorry for the duplicate)

From the parts inventory of a particular set (example with 31202 - Mickey Mouse,
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=31202-1), the link "Add to my
inventory" does not contains the "itemColor" parameter. We have to choose the
right colour in the form.

It seems to me that this is a bug. If I am wrong, it would be a nice enhancement

Thanks for your reading,

Jey

  Hi,

It would be great the have the ability to set shipment options. In Switzerland,
Swiss Post can deliver parcels on Saturday. This implies an additional fee that
a buyer should choose at checkout.

For now, the only way to do this is to define a new dedicated shipment method
with the fee incorporated to the shipment prices. The buyer would have a new
option, beside the other methods, only to receive its parcel on saturday.

In my vision, a seller will set an option with a description and additional fees.
The buyer will have a checkbox to enable the option.

Thanks in advance for your read and I wish you a happy new year.

Jey

I see what you mean, but how many shipping methods do you currently have? You
could consider to just, as you say, add separate shipping methods for them. I
don't think it would clutter the customer's interface too much if you
make sure that all the shipping methods that are not relevant are hidden (e.g.
by placing them into the same group so only the cheapest one is displayed, or
by making their specifications mutually exclusive).

I just finish to configure the new methods and this is an abstract of what I've
done :

- Group 1 : Economic shipment (small bubble mailer, oversized small bubble mailer,
big bubble mailer, parcel)
- Group 2 : Priority shipment (small bubble mailer, oversized small bubble mailer,
big bubble mailer, parcel)
- Group 3a : Priority shipment for parcel that can be delivered on Saturdays

- Group 3b : Priority shipment with tracking, for all kind of bubble mailer of
group 2
- Group 4 : Priority shipment with tracking and insurance, for all kind of bubble
mailer of groupe 2

I've setup all this various methods to have constraints on the packaging.
The Swiss Post allow so much options and I tried to apply those options to reduce
the shipping cost.

With options, the buyer would, firstly, choose between Economic and Priority.
And then, if it choose Priority, he will chose the options, like it is able to
do with the tracking and/or insurance.

That sounds very complicated. Not saying you should do the same, but here's
some food for thought: I don't offer any options. I have put all of my 10-or-so
shipping methods into the same group.
Maybe by introducing some of that philosophy into your system you can straighten
things out a bit. Sometimes good service means not "annoying" a buyer with optionss
- they are not as familiar with postal services as you are, so you're in
a fair position to make some of the decisions on their behalf. It's often
not rocket science what buyers want, they usually just want their order in a
decent timeframe at a good price. I would at most offer one rudimentary choice
between very fast expensive shipping and slow cheap shipping if this really is
a meaningful preference that buyers can have.

You are almost right. I aim to charge the less shipping fees than possible. For
example, if I don't propose the "Oversize" method (more than 2cm height but
less than 5cm), shipping Hulk (see below) will cost is almost 260% higher (CHF
7.00 for a parcel and CHF 2.65 for an oversized).

Minifig No: sh611 Name: Hulk - Giant, White Jumpsuit
*
sh611 (Inv) Hulk - Giant, White Jumpsuit
Minifigures: Super Heroes: Avengers Endgame

By having this "complicated" set of methods, I can charge the lowest shipping
cost to my customers. But it's quite annoying to me to define all these methods,
and I'm not away from mistakes.

By enabling shipping options, I can clearly reduce the amount of methods and
let the buyer choose some options, like being delivered on Saturday.

I suggest you try the checkbox: Instant Checkout Unavailable on your My Inventory
page to find these items.

Jen

Hi Jen,

Thanks for your suggestion (and sorry to have been so long for). It is now possible
to filter the inventory against the lack of packaging dimension.

But it seems that "Instant Checkout Unavailable" and "No Packing Dim in Catalog"
work differently, the result lists are not the same. I made this suggestion because
the item was available at instant checkout but had used the wrong shipping method,
due to the lack of packaging dimension.

What happens if you try again without any punctuation in the notes field?
I have a theory that anything other than letters or numbers in the notes field
causes this error

Thanks for your answer. I've retry today and the refund have passed with
the punctuation.

Refund through the PayPal website and then the refund link on the Order Details
page to update the payment.

Thanks for your suggestion, I will save it for the next time anything went wrong.
I have retry today and the "normal process" have worked correctly.

Hi,

I need to refund a customer that has paid too much for shipping, using PayPal.
As always in this case, I click on the "Issue refund" link of the order details
page.

After completing the PayPal form, when I click on the green button "Submit refund
to...", it says "Something when wrong, Please try again".

I've tried several times before sending this message, using Safari 14.1.2
and Google Chrome 92.0.4515.159 under macOS 11.5.2.

Can you check the link with PayPal, please.

Many thanks in advence,

Porchy13

Hi,

I've seen a bad situation where BrickLink can told to use a particular shipping
method but the parts does not fit with the method, because on the restriction
on the dimensions. The problem is due to the absence of dimensions of one part
in the catalog.

In the Inventory page, I am able to list all items missing the weight in the
catalog. It would be great to have an identical filter to identify items without
dimensions.

Regards,

porchy
