| Hello, helpful people!
I have a quick question on how Bricklink charges fees. If a credit is applied
to an order after it has been placed (but before it is paid), will the seller
still be charged BL's fee on that amount, or on the final total?
Thanks!
|
It's a good question, the terms covering this can seem ambiguous.
As I understand it, seller fees are applied to what is itemized as “Order Total”
within the transaction's details. Straightforward so far, right
When an order is credited via the use of a coupon during checkout, it remains
the fee’d amount. But if an order is credited retroactively by the seller, then
the “Order Total” though still the fee’d amount, is now on the wrong side of
itemization and therefore fee-considerations.

Wonder if it's just us English users, who over-utilize those weighty four

Trade you a pet peeve for a pet theory? I think, through characterizing love

entirely upon how sleepy the subject tends to make you feel!

It's not personal. Sergio's simply doing his job. Well, I would add.
If you'd like to sell on this platform, there are criteria that you

From my general understanding: the BL Admin is not as concerned about fees as
they are for the security of the overall membership of BL. "Safe to buy" reputation.

Looks like info about delivery into Ukraine. From Ukraine we can send parcel
abroad as usual
|
I can appreciate your optimism, but…
The influencing factors that bring about failures within complex logistical systems,
rarely (if ever) affect unidirectionally. These systems are fundamentally amalgams
of systems, which in turn are comprised of contractors and subcontractors, etc
and-so-on. Many of these links are facing the same causations.
Exacerbating the situation further, are the divergences (political and logistical)
of those border countries to Ukraine that are of the global network Ukraine must
operate within. It is for now, simply not business as usual for operations within
Ukraine, even in the far western areas such as your beautiful Lviv.
Such things will begin to normalize though, hopefully sooner rather than
later. I believe it will, anyway.

When displaying a store's positive (or negative) feedback score, neutrals
should be excluded.
In its current state, there are 2 problems:
1. Leaving a store neutral feedback does the same amount of damage to its overall
praise percentage as negative feedback, even when the customer considers their
experience neither more positive or more negative.
2. Buyers are less likely to leave neutral feedback when they have genuinely
neutral experiences, because they don't want to harm the store reputation.
This leads to a much less honest picture of the actual experience of buying
from that store.
I think [2] well represents most long term BL users. Newcomers are more likely
to provide honest neutral feedback, without realising the unintended harm it
has on the store reputation.
Or hey, just be honest and rename them "positive, kinda bad, negative", as that's
realistically what they've turned into.

"Preventive Action" From what I've read over the last years here, that's
simply a euphemism for "let's flag the account for a second look" Though
sadly, often initiated by another member reporting your profile for possible
breach of TOS, such as underage, etc.
Have you been asked to supply further personal info? I'm also assuming you
haven't transacted yet, so no issues there?
In the meanwhile, the good news is that you can continue your participation in

Notice-123 does not show any price difference between Commercial Base and Commercial
Plus, but I’m pretty sure there are differences. I’m going to look at the CSV
files to see what is actually being sent forth.
Nita Rae
|
The rate I was charged does not appear in Notice 123, or in the CSV files. That
suggests that Pirate Ship is now using a negotiated rate, that appears on the
label as Commercial Plus. So, kudos to PayPal and their replacement for Pitney
Bowes, for pushing enough business over to Pirate Ship to allow this to be possible.
Nita Rae
|
These are most definitely negotiated. In fact, the actual rates appear to be
confidential, as Pirate Ship is not issuing an actual rate chart, but they are
showing where the rates will be lower than published rates. Generally, for PM,
they are all weights in zones 1-4, up to 3 pound in zone 5, and up to 2 pounds
in zone 6. The last one was the one I used this morning. No savings out in zones
7-9.No savings for FCPS (that I can see). By not actually telling you what to
expect, they (in concert with USPS) have the ability to flex these rates at times
other than published rate increases. An interesting approach.

It’s simply undoable for BL to allow transactions with Russian members at this

also difficult for them to offer any sort of categorical reply to your question.
But maybe not.
”The global payment platforms we use on BrickLink are currently not available
in Russia and deliveries to and from the country are severely disrupted. Given
this, buying and selling activities in Russia will be temporarily deactivated.
Members impacted by this will be informed individually.”
That said, using today's odds, I'd wager not much beyond than another
90 days or so, for some normalization to begin. Though sadly at this point, that's
more speculation than fact.
The upside if you’re looking for one, is the current and projected (by some)
strength of the Ruble against western currencies and the purchasing opportunities
that will afford those holding Rubles here, once the ratchet starts to loosen.

Statue of Liberty, I had 6, and of course all the other Star Wars sets up to
2010 which I had several of each.
And all the train sets, US and Europe.
I will stop now and go cry somewhere.
|
Think many of us know the feeling.
We had storage units full of such, that I liquidated (much of anyway) in two
rounds. Used the proceeds to take time off to travel with my kids, spending 24/7
with them. That period in our lives was truly carpe diem: adventuring, hiking,
climbing, camping, all while visiting the people and towns of America’s Southwest
along the way. We got to know many wonderful individuals, couples and families
on the trails and in the towns, some of whom we've stayed in touch with.
As a father, it was invaluable in their development. For me selfishly, it was
a priceless opportunity which the sell-off facilitated. The only regret I have
in selling the inventory so cheap, is that I didn’t offload more for another
year of such memory making.
As I’m sure you and your wife got some enjoyment (beyond the i8) from the proceeds
of your sell-off too. Or we could just go with Thoreau's take “To regret
deeply is to live afresh”

Just to clarify this is not a rant at the OP, its just a frustrating state of affairs

Every single day new item availability within the catalog is delayed, is missed
opportunity for both vendor and site, with longer term adverse effect on activity
if consistently and simultaneously available elsewhere.
It's basic understanding of competitive resale marketplaces, which makes
the frustration real and shared by many, as regularly expressed here in the forum:

Great questions!
Though the idiom “apples and oranges” leaps to mind. In other words, they are
incompatible for any sort of honest comparison, imho.
-One is a newer set, the other older with 10 years of price settling.
-One was designed for display (UCS), the other for play.
-One's value is held in minifigures, the other's is not and never will.
“will be worth more in the future?”
How far into the future? Worth more as an asset? In which case: new-sealed, parted,
used, etc?
The only definitively answer I can offer, is to your “which one looks
better on display” question... which is in this case, is perhaps the apropos
question to ask yourself. Without a doubt it's the gorgeous Republic Gunship.
A stunning beauty! (like my ex-wife, though far less costly)

Hair and Headgear as they're the one component that really helps define a

this on him.

Completely understand, Judith. There is another side to this though, which I
left out not wanting to be too lengthy. That is the sometimes profound meaning
and keen sense of purpose that’s often found, which offers a caregiver the comfort
and peace of mind needed, especially when it’s a spouse, child or parent that’s
fading.
The alternative is to sit on the sidelines while the inevitable happens, as your
siblings apparently have decided. In the end, it's you that will have had
those precious moments with your mother, your siblings will never know. Makes
you sad for them, almost.
Leaving for the weekend now. Take care.

I’m eager to learn what you might learn during with this BL-hiatus:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1161196 Please share when it's time.
… But my hope is that you’ll make the effort to stay involved in what’s been
in a sense, your forum of the last 15 years. It can be a good place to find a
little solace
The subject of caring for me when it’s my time, came up for the first time between
my kids and I, some time ago. Of course, I tried to make light of the fact that
dad's not gonna be around forever, by saying something like “no biggie, just
find a decent raisin ranch to stick me in” Neither my son nor daughter appreciated
the humor at all. In fact, my daughter upset and with a stern voice, declared
“You’re living with us, dad!" Subject dropped
After spending years sheltering them, parents never want to see their children
burdened, even when grown. To then perceive oneself to be that burden… very difficult.

Will report at the Help Desk too.

One of those 'good' problems
But it's been around for sometime, purportedly. Congrats on your new brick
color, though! Dark Turquoise, still among the strangest of Lego colors, imho.

Coupons apply to what’s termed within the Order Summary, as Order Total
Keep in mind…
“If you specified a coupon limit to specific item type then the order total
used to calculate the percentage off will be the total of all items in the order
which are the specified item type and not the order total of all items in the
order”

Thank you for your answer. That is what I was thinking, but as I mentioned I
never like to make an assumption.
|
You're welcome
Almost didn't pick-up on your italicized ass in assumption
For those that might've missed the English wordplay, it's drawn from
an adage that goes something like: To assume, can often make an ass (out
of) u (and) me
Good rule to consider, nonetheless. Always advisable being careful of coming
to conclusions from assumptions.

| Hello,
I send (from switzerland) a order to a client of belgum & write in the place
for the IOSS number on CN22, the correctly IOSS number from BrickLink.
The BrickLinkVATReceiptEU12345.pdf is printed out and clearly visible on the
back of the package.
Now make the customs problems about the order, that the custom dosent found the
IOSS number & will take again the payed VAT from the client.
Are that not for every customs now after nearly 1 year clear how it functions?
The client send already again the IOSS number & the BrickLinkVATReceiptEU12345.pdf
to proof it, but again dosent accept the belgum border this.
Best regards Daniel and stay healthy.

| Question for the experts out there: what total is the coupon applied to? Is it
to just the parts total, parts & shipping, or parts, shipping, and tax?
Common sense says it should only be applied to the parts, since as sellers that
is really all we control the price of, but I never like to assume.
Thanks!

You're welcome, O' He of The Forest!
But call me popsicle or Cory (unlike Maxx, I don't cycle) Or just

(P.s. I am a cyclist myself)

You still able to get at it, cycling?
|
All Dutch cycle, it is just at what speed
|
I've heard that about the Netherlands, especially in places like Amsterdam,
Rotterdam, etc. But I meant considering health issues you've experienced?

Another BL member that was a serious road cyclist, is Kevin (goldknight) Don't
know if he still spends time at it, he got pretty banged up in a bad
fall, some years ago.

Knock on wood, haven’t fallen or got in an accident in a long time….

I like that. Sums it up well
