| The "My BL" image at the top of the page doesn't load. It appears some Java
work was done to load a copy of the user's avatar there, but it now fails.
To reproduce the Java errors (in my case in Chrome), right-click the "My BL"
image and select "open image in new tab".

I wonder if, when the seller had your shop terms posted, you would be able to
claim anything.
Aside from that, if you copy-paste parts of some other company's terms, you
might want to remove any traces of their trade names...

| When TLG produces new versions of existing parts, they often do not affect the
functionality in builds, meaning a build can be done with either the old or the
new version of the part. TLG also "over-produces" parts so they have stock of
parts when new sets are created. These sets might use up old stock, and then
start including the new version. This means sets can come with old version parts,
new version parts, and even with mixed versions.
TLG doesn't announce these version changes, so it often happens that people
run into these variants by accident, prompting a new "with rounded corners" version
of a part in the BL catalog. However, because of the often "fluent" transition
of versions, and even the unknown of when TLG actually switched over, it is impossible
for outsiders to know when the old version stopped, and the new version started.
A blanket change of the name of an "old version part" to now say "squared corners"
will affect all inventories (and sellers' shop inventories). Set inventories
would need to be re-verified from sealed contents (or at least known-not-to-have-been-mixed),
which even for lesser-used parts is a massive undertaking, as is obvious by the
attempts to eliminate say
In short, renaming the old version would not be a good idea.

Actually small-e, and small-e has been pretty damn impressive (seller-wise) since
it’s restructuring at the end of last year. If I were able to leave aside my
natural prejudices and affinity with BL, I'd give small-e the higher seller-rating
today.
|
I think there is a difference between sellers and how-the-platform-handles-sellers.
I think the sellers here are on average way better to deal with than those on
big/small-e. I can't say anything about how sellers are kept in check here
vs on eBay as I haven't sold there in 16 years.

Cant remember the exact time frame ...but so long as you log into your account
once every 6 months or so ...your store can remain closed forever ...without
loss of inventory (well except for the losses due to inventory Gremlins that

Yes, I am aware that states do this sometimes. I am asking if BL's tax collection
system knows not to charge sales tax when they do.
|
I would bet heavily on them not to honor tax-free days. AFAICS there is no automated
way of knowing which states have what days tax-free. To implement this, BL would
have to first put in some code to disable taxes for certain states on certain
days, and then somehow track what all these states do (by constantly reading
government web pages?) and manually add these exceptions to the system.
In short, not gonna happen.

Not quite. Check out the top part of that screen shot. It says "subtotal: US$
3.48", and right next to it "order total: US$ 6.98 + S&H". That implies that
the missing US$ 3.50 is not part of S&H...

That seems like a strange design decision!
|
There were some issues in the past with this - especially when people could put
in a note to show the world why.
As a buyer, you can "force" to buy from a shop by simply placing an order. You
need to know where you can't shop (so buyers should see the list of shops
that refuse orders from you). As a seller, you can't "force" buyers to buy
from you, so needing to know which other shops have blocked you is less important.
Not knowing who (for whatever reason) doesn't want to buy at your shop cuts
down on shouting matches etc.
Of course completely overlooking the fact that most BL sellers use the same account
to buy, but I guess this was the lesser of the evils.

I'm talking extremes here, they charge 5$ for a 0.40$ part and 3-5 sellers
change the average price all by themselves.

Look at those 3 most expensive sellers...

My point is, if these price points drive up the average sales price of a part,
that is good for my bottom line.
So yes please, price high.
