Sure, it could be if does take away sales from other LEGO sets. But is it? Not
really. Unless you are assuming that all the LEGO factories everywhere are only
making newly announced sets all the time? Don't be silly. That cannot be
the case. Most of the production lines are making sets already released (in many
cases, sets that have been released for a while) that are NOT in limited production.
Is it so hard to TEMPORARILY stop producing sets that are already in full abundance
everywhere in stores and make room for the relatively more limited sets that
are only available for a limited time? I don't think so. Doing so for a short
time does not hurt their sales until there is a shortage of supply of any official
sets.

My local stores are fully in stock of every single LEGO set that LEGO has recently
released, including the popular ones like SW, HP etc. The LEGO stores I go to
are fully stacked to. There is no shortage of ANY current official sets for sale.
In fact, I just bought a SW set for 50% off. There are many sets that are offered
at 20% off on Amazon as well. Why in the world would they offer discount if there
is a shortage or imminent shortage of these sets?

Moreover, where can the buyers who want the sets in the Designer Program go to?
Only via LEGO.com. No where else. Not the case with other official LEGO sets.

How do you think they are able to fully stock stores of full production sets?
Do you expect that they just make them on demand and magically they appear?
New sets release all the time. The amount of planning, prep and productions
to get millions of new sets made, sorted, packaged shipped and into the stock
at your local store doesn't happen over night. Production facilities are
most likely running for sets coming out months down the road to get ready. All
of the 100+ sets marked as "coming soon" on the website have to be made as well.
Even these sets aren't slotted to be distributed until Dec/Jan for orders
right now. Until they get the time on the machines to put the sets together
and I can only imagine that their is limited availability with other projects
coming, let alone the holiday season that they are most likely gearing up production
for.

The same way they are able to squeeze in LUGBulk program where they are producing
80 different parts for hundreds of registered lugs.
Also nobody said it has to be done immediately - its not unusual to wait a year
on a crowdfunding project, just recently i backed Witcher board game - 45,162
backers pledged €6,840,648
Dont understand why Lego cannot do it the right crowdfunding way - limit to max
2 per person and do it in waves, do as much as people will order

At this point i wish that Chinese took over this Ideas / crowdfunding way of
producing Bricks sets - let them pay the creators and let the users have exactly
ehat the designer will create - would be finally a perfect t way to be legal,
quality of brick is solid already anyway

The suggestion from someone to cancel orders of 2+ isn't ok. When I placed
the order I had to add 2 to get free shipping (Lego.com had a min. cart value,
and was trying to add $20 shipping). So I joined with a local Lego fan and we
bought together in a single order.

Think this was in response to the Forest castle set which was 150 Eur which is
eligible for free shipping

Just shows the Lego Ideas people don't know what they are doing when they
choose sets we don't really want, but say no to sets we really do want.
Just make sets based on our votes and you'll get sales.

How does this logic make any sense. Every set that is select from LEGO Ideas
has reached the same 10k threshold to be reviewed by TLG. There are so many
reasons why a set may or may not be select during the Ideas review process.
Should the revisit the old Forestmen series, maybe. After seeing the interest
over this castle set will they, hopefully. But this was a limited release set
that already glitched and sold 5k to many. There is no reason for them to "have"
to open it up for more sales just because people didn't get it. They said
5% of the orders bought 5 sets, which is so much smaller then everyone is barking
over compared to the 75% that bought 1.

Please point me to the official message where they presented the distribution
of this set among the orders
In the first article i see only the number 75%, thats all

Out of 10,000 sets, 2,500 sets went to ebay scalpers. 25% or 500 people. You
could view it a different way that those 500 scalpers were primed and ready to
buy them so out of that initial 5,000 offering HALF were going to go to ebay/scalpers
no matter what.

The fact they aren't going to fix that is insane.

Nope. They declared 75% of Orders, not 75% of the set amount.
My calculation was simplified (omitting orders of 2-3-4 sets) - check the response
of Papluh below

so let me make this clear in a sentence: buy Castle in the forest on ebay for
800$

At this point, i will just wait on the istructions to appear (would be nice if
author could sell it right now). I dont have the patience with lego to be able
to purchase a set i want.

So do i count correctly for the Caste in the Forest ?

In total 5000 orders for the 10 000 sets produced
3750 of it (75%) for 1 pcs
1250 of it (25%) for 5 pcs

That means only 3750 people out of 10 000 would get this set as the rest 6250
sets would be sold for scalping

BTW why dont you just present the exact numbers grouped by count of sets per
order for each set ?
This would show which set is in high demand and which is not

Those 1000 happy scalpers are safe, their set will go up in value and they should
not fear that their order will be cancelled as is common practice on lego.com
page

Why not limiting the orders for this set to max 2 with following rule:
Orders for 1 pcs - no change
Orders for 2 pcs - no change
Orders for 3+ pcs - obvious scalper, limit the order to just 1!

this could free up another batch for a next rout of preorder with limit of only
1 per BL account which was not created in the last 2 months (or when was this
initiative published)
