I would posit that the problem isn't with the process being overly complicated
but with the users themselves. Most are simply too lazy to read anything, and
couple that with the managements insistence on pandering to those glued to their
phones as opposed to using a proper computer and that accounts for 90%+ of the
issues with Buyers claiming to have problems doing something on here. My experience
anyway.

In Problem, infinibrix writes:
My customers always seem to have trouble following the process of approving an
item removal request therefore can these steps not be simplified?

A buyer has asked me to reduce the quantities they have ordered on a couple of
items from their order and whilst I have no issue submitting the request they
always seem to struggle to approve it despite me spending lots of extra time
trying to explain and direct them to 'MY BL' and then 'MY ACTIVITY'
to locate and approve the request

Does it even really need the customer to approve the change? If so why?

If this is required it really needs to be much, much easier for the customer
to do as the last thing I want is to frustrate my customer unduly before we've
even started especially since they actually originally asked me to cancel the
whole order so they could re-order what they needed (They asked me this twice
already!) but since it was only a couple of small adjustments I suggested against
this on the basis that cancelled orders make things messy and are not an ideal
look for a seller (Potential fee avoidance attempts from BL's point of view!)

any other sellers experience similar problems?

Not unheard of although rare, even if sent as an oversized letter. Keep in mind
it has to clear your Customs, and they can be slow.

In Problem Order, MiniRoz writes:
I placed an order from a Canada based store on Sept 27th (4 weeks ago) and still
have not received my items (I’m in the US - Virginia). Seller says it can take
up to six weeks, which doesn’t seem correct based on info provided by Canada
Post. When I asked the seller for tracking number, he said I didn’t purchase
tracking. I followed up asking for proof of shipping, but his response was to
check with Canada Post - this obviously isn’t helpful since there is no tracking
number.
Has anyone heard of Canada Post packages taking 6 weeks to be delivered? What
is a reasonable amount of time to wait before filing a NSS if the seller doesn’t
offer verification the items were shipped?

Thank you!

I've had more than a few oddballs like that, including one who between ordering
and paying via etransfer for local pickup dropped of the face of the earth. over
2 months later he resurfaced saying he'd move halfway across the country
and forgot. Took him another month to remember to pay me for the shipping.

My suggestion is to just sit on it. If the buyer has paid for the order, your
return in in. Just let is sit and see if they bother to realize they haven't
received anything.

In Problem Order, CanadaFirst writes:
This might seem like a dumb question but we have an issue with an order.

The buyer purchased empty boxes and wanted to receive an invoice without any
shipping because he would send his own shipping label.

It took a while for them to pay but after we initiated an NPB they said that
they hadn't seen the previous messages reminding them that they needed to
pay their order.

We packed the order, sent the dimensions in a bricklink message as we as through
email.

The package has been sitting here since the 5th of October, no response.

Since there is no 'Non-responding buyer' alert, is there something else
we can do to get in touch with the buyer? I don't think so, but maybe someone
here has an idea that I didn't come across so far.

I guess the next option would be to send the buyer a message saying that if they
don't send the shipping label we will have to refund them and cancel the
order, or to refund them and declare an NPB, which seems counter-productive and
somehow unethical, so we're at a loss.

As long as your gross sales are under $30 000.00 CAD the CRA doesn't care.
Over that then you have to declare them.

I have ordered from Ukraine about 8 months ago, and no real difference from what
I would have expected time wise. I have not shipped to Ukraine since the war
began, simply due to no orders coming in from customers there. I am fully prepared
to do so though with no concerns.

Russell reached out to me about a month ago saying they're no longer doing
that as they're not required to (but could voluntarily do it should they
wish in the future of course). I asked if they could implement the sales tax

No news yet if they'll give us access to the field and tax tables.

Canada is large country, and a parcel from one Province can arrive a week sooner

It would be nice on the Wanted List search to be able to narrow down the search
by location to Stores in just one or two specific Provinces.

For example, I live in Northern British Columbia, and I would like to be able
to search by location not for all of Canada, but just for the Provinces of BC
and Alberta.

Thank you for your consideration.

Yes, they seem to suddenly have difficulty in grasping the concept of a due date.
Based on their invoices, and their very Terms Sellers are not obliged to pay
their fees until that date. That's how it works in every other business.

And this brings up exactly what every Canadian seller on BL should be doing.
Report BL for collecting GST with no GST # to the CRA. THAT will force BL to
act, since they clearly don't care when a seller asks/complains.

In Taxes, Nubs_Select writes:
  In Taxes, Emporiosa writes:

Would BL allow us to figure it out paying for fees for months? No, so why isn't
every Canadian store that collects GST pounding the forum with requests for their
money back. Shame them into doing something.

Tyson.

I think it's because most of them have no clue that the receipt is missing
the GST/HST # and most don't keep up with the forums. Many may not even know
that you can't make an ITC claim for receipts missing it/without having the
GST #, and even more would be completely unaware of the rules of cross-border
tax collection for digital stuff (if it ends up that BL is in the newer digital
scheme, but their support said they were part of the normal regime).

I hadn't even noticed the missing GST/HST numbers until I was gathering up
my 2022 Q4 remittance stuff and it was a fluke that I realized it wasn't
there. I've never seen a receipt without one; that just doesn't happen
usually and I never look for it normally.

and then you have people like me who didn't even know about ITC's until
hearing about people talk about them in the forums only a couple of months ago
. but its interesting you say you've never seen a receipt without
a gst/hst number as for me when i buy something from Walmart or apple or the
like I never see a gst/hst number. but the CRA told me that if I paid tax and
the seller didn't give the number they will go after the seller not me so
I should make sure the receipt has their name or the like on it so they can investigate
it if needed

So if BL doesn't actually have a GST then they cannot lawfully be collecting
GST. They have no way to give it to the CRA.

At this point I'd reach out to the admins through the help desk; my guess
is that your replies get pushed down the list due to the volume of posts each
day - I understand this is a forum, but (in my opinion) a lot of messages that
get posted daily are unnecessary and end up drowning out important issues like
these :/

I've been sending monthly e-mails (in addition to the original e-mails I
sent to Russell at the start of this that he acknowledged). The last one I've
sent was April 5th. Their last communication to me about this topic was Friday,
Feb 17th so I've sent 2 e-mails since then to help desk with no reply.

They said that they applied in October 2022 for a GST/HST # under the normal
GST/HST regime. I'm suspecting since they're under the LEGO umbrella,
this is how/why they can do so (rather than the new marketplace way for those
operating outside of Canada).

They also said "Once the registration number has been provided to LEGO BrickLink,
Inc. we will immediately print it on commission invoices. Here’s a related FAQ
page, which will be updated if any changes happen."

Any seller who has registered for a GST/HST number knows you get it immediately,
specifically because you need to be compliant by putting it on your receipts
and have it available when customers who are taxed request your # to verify that
you're registered, etc. So I'm not sure what they mean about them waiting
for their #.

should never have been charged to their card.)

Another month later, Paypal sides with them, and reverses the payment and charges
me a $20 fee on top of it.

I looked at their feedback today, and it appears they have done this to at least
one other seller recently.

Too much time has passed for me to file a non-paying buyer (and the rules seem
to indicate that it would be removed even if it was still in the timeframe).
It's too late to change my feedback for them.

What is the official process for me?

Has anyone therefore made a formal fraud complaint to the CRA?

In Taxes, Emporiosa writes:

If I'm interpreting this correctly, and I'll verify with CRA today, BrickLink
wasn't supposed to be collecting this tax on sellers who were already registered
for GST/HST and we can request a refund not from the CRA, but from BrickLink
and BrickLink will not be able to reclaim this from the CRA because it was an
error in how they collected.

As there has been no update from BrickLink, the CRA recommendations are that
the GST/HST remittance is to be completed without reclaiming the taxes paid on
commissions via input tax credit as they do not believe BrickLink was allowed
to charge taxes, and that BrickLink is to provide refunds on the taxes paid directly
to us (likely a credit on a future commission invoice).

I'm not sure if surprising is the right word, but it's definitely disappointing
that BrickLink still doesn't have confirmation after over 2 weeks. Nor have
they provided the GST/HST # that they are required to disclose. I understand
that complying with tax requirements around the world isn't easy, but the
total lack of communication from BrickLink/LEGO Group since the initial acknowledgement
is a problem. Many sellers stressed the fact that remittance was due month-end,
and most complete it well before the last possible day to ensure no late payments.

Its called Price Quote. Enable it and it makes life much easier.

if Admin would allow Sellers to make Price Quote compulsory (as an option) it
would save Sellers a lot of Buyers who won't pay having committed to an Order.

Nebraska Brick Store

A lot. I want a lot of stuff. I do agree with items others have mentioned to
reduce confusion within the website, but am going to take a different angle here.

I'll try to keep the list short and focus mostly on increasing what Buyers
want cause it falls in line with what sellers want, which is increased sales,
increased traffic, and increased daily excitement putting together Lego orders
for other lovers of Lego. I can't tell you the joy I receive every time someone
visits my store and then the additional joy of seeing an order that I can go
pack up and fulfill.

1) I want buyers to know that BrickLink exists so more of them come here vs going
to Amazon. I don't have the answers on how you advertise but I can't
say I've ever seen any either. Put it this way, there is not 1 person in
my life that I have discussed Lego with that has ever heard of BL prior to me
introducing them to it. We are not talking about a few people, this is hundreds
of friends and family. They all have children, nearly all those children love
building Lego, nearly all those children receive at least 1 Lego set for Xmas/birthdays...
yet none know where to purchase Lego beyond Amazon, Walmart, or Target. What
really hurts though is many of them really dislike the invoice system, see #2
below as they want to shop, checkout and then see their purchase in their mailbox.
They don't want delays in-between.

2) For Domestic Orders as I think this should be possible for every country but
I am not sure entirely - I want every store to be required to have Instant Checkout
for every order cause I am growing tired of seeing the posts about X seller is
now charging this, or personally when I see X seller charging Retail shipping
vs Commercial... every store can keep their terms on costs but each store should
be fully capable of figuring out what works for them to provide instant checkout
with shipping costs built in too at various levels. It isn't difficult to
know our own inventory and know how much shipping would approximately cost for
domestic orders and if a seller gets burned a little, like many of us have, we
learn from it and move on.

3) along with #2 as I don't see that happening, then stores that are 100%
instant checkout from a buyers perspective, should be highlighted for them so
a buyer knows that they can fully checkout and bypass having to wait for invoices
etc... we should be adapting to what buyers want vs buyers having to adapt to
what each seller wants. I want to buy things from other sellers too, but as
an example, am SOOOO tired of being quoted Retail shipping when I know they are
paying commercial. I decline every single quote or request for shipping cost
when I know it is much higher than what I know they would actually be paying
especially when I ship orders every day and have the capacity to look up what
actual shipping would be from Point A to Point B. Some terms specifically say
"retail" which is fine, I just avoid them, but many are not clear enough.

Maybe this list is too strong and maybe too difficult and some sellers would
be turned off by these ideas. I have no doubt that many sellers would dislike
having to implement the above, however, for the betterment of the site, I think
it would do wonders to really help streamline Bricklink to be more what buyers
want to retain them and gain new customers for everyone, and add in a little
advertising and this could really become the 1st place customers go to get their
Lego.

Thanks

I am all for either requiring Instant Checkout or highlighting sellers that do.
Even as a seller, I hate the guesswork when buying, and sometimes the sellers
come back with an out-of their... out of this world shipping price!
