BrickLink should setup a system where a seller would need to have a credit card
to sell on BL, and BL charges the seller a small amount (say $5) to setup the
store, and activate it, and verify the seller's information that is on BL against
the credit card.

The $5 would offset any costs associated with checking names/addresses. Once
BL has a card # and a charge on it, they can verify the name and address to the
card, and they know that they are dealing with a real person, at a real address.
Or, maybe make this an option, and have a store icon that shows that the seller
is verified.

Or, perhaps make this a requirement only if the seller wishes to sell high value
products, or lots of items valued at a high value.

I would gladly do this for my store, to show that I'm legit and serious about
selling.

Resistance is futile.

Would be nice to have the ability to make one or more wanted lists "public" so
that if a link was provided to the list other folks could see the list. This
would work similar to Amazon.com wish list in that others can see but not edit
the list.

In my mind, this would be a check box on the wanted list settings (and creation)
screen. Default would be unchecked (meaning private).

[X] Public List

It would be useful in facilitating purchases for gifts (like little Tommy wants
a bunch of batman minifigs so he adds it to his wish list so grandma can buy
one for him by viewing his list), and for facilitating trading because people
can see what the seller would like as payment for the trade items.

Everything else about the wanted list would work the same as it does now - except
that if viewing by someone other then the owner there would be no editing fields
available.

Based upon the message posted by;

Re: I am falling off the list -- here's why - legoman77

A forum where you cannot be banned. You can speak your mind, argue like an idiot,
mock people, attack people at will, be a jerk, be a jack wagon, or whatever else
you wish.

THIS WOULD BE AN OPT IN ONLY with an adult warning on it!

Think it would be fun.

This forum would NOT be listed on the forum post stats! And it would be a no
man's land for banned and unbanned people alike.

If it gets out of hand NO SUPPORT AT ALL BY MODS/ADMIN/G-D.

Since it would be an opt in ONLY, just do not go there if you do not wish to
be offended!

Great idea.

I would like to see it called THE WILD, WILD FORUM (with a cowboy and Indian
as the icon's for it).

I would like the ability to not "Ignore" but "Shun"

When someone is being a Troll, or even being somewhat unhelpful, and also posting
on the wrong thread...

Shun, not block, just list in red. That way, I know he's being a "Troll light."
Posting relevant comments, but in the wrong thread...

Or, Reconnect would be good... Remove the posts from Brasletty's post, and put
them where they belong...

Or... Posters could bother to rename the thread (lazy BrickLinkers!)

There may be an action for this that is similar and I don't know about it, but
here is my random suggestion anyway.

I operate out of two locations, one location has my personal collection (home),
and my apartment has my store. I commonly visit home and need items from my store
at my apartment. I believe it could be nice to have the ability to shop in your
own store and place an order with your self, that way you have a nice record
of everything you want to take from your own store and it would remove it from
your own store in one action. OF COURSE!! you would not be able to feedback
yourself, and this transaction would not effect the price guide, it would have
to be a separate system. For example, you build your cart in your own store,
and on the check out page select "personal order" so that your "order" is not
technically a Bricklink order. I hope this makes sense. And if something like
this exist, please let me know because I will use it like crazy!

I would like to suggest that you can choose to 'save' a cart on BL, and that
i kept for, eg a week. At the moment it isn't kept after you log off, so if I
want to place an order tomorrow, I either have to do it today or copy & paste
into word, then go to the trouble of finding all the items again. Thoughts?

Based on the discussion of this post:
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=599326

A formal suggestion to update to the Help Desk to include:

"BrickLink is fully committed to fair and honest competition among all sellers
who use this site. Compliance with applicable laws is the best means by which
to ensure that such competition is fair and honest. Although it is not BrickLink's
job to police or enforce those laws, for the benefit of the entire BrickLink
community and to put into practice the commitment noted above, we reserve the
right to take action against any members we reasonably believe have violated
any laws to gain an unfair competitive advantage over other members. Such action
may include a warning, temporary suspension of site privileges, or termination
of membership for repeat offenders. We believe a clean honest marketplace best
serves the interests of BrickLink and all its members. If you cannot play fairly
with others, you may be asked to play elsewhere."

In addition, add "Buyer requested customs fraud" as a reason for sellers to cancel
an order AND to remove feedback (but, for feedback removal, only if the request
is made in the Order Comments or via a BrickLink message which can be easily
confirmed by Admin, or if undisputed by the buyer).

I propose that the Forum rules that outlaw discussion of Religion or Politics
should be lifted in times of

"Extreme discourse".

We could have a pre-set background colour change as the discourse becomes more
extreme.

The Green background could turn to Yellow if discussions are ongoing about items
for sale --
Chrome bricks, custom parts etc.

The background would then turn to RED if discussions are ongoing about individuals
and ethics/morality.

When the Yellow background is up - members would be encouraged to post OFF TOPIC
items, jokes, links to cute videos etc.

When the RED background is up - free for all -- anything to change the subject
-- Dirty Jokes, links to "other" videos, Religion and Politics discussion --
EVEN posts to e-bay LINKS selling LEGO instead of just posting all the info necessary
to see it without a simple one click solution !!!!

My solution shown here. Hey new Admins, please consider adding this feature.

My suggestion: stop purging data.
It's the 21st century, mass storage is cheap.
There's no at all reason to purge data ever.

Are suggestions still worth making. I ask as none have been implemented since
September.
Without sounding rude..... the reasons are known to all of us why, but no suggestions
have been implemented since September so is the new Admin going to do them or
is Bricklink now running as good as it is ever going to run with no more implemented
suggestions?

The responses to this got me thinking:
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=498526

Would committees be a good thing for BL?

I suggest a committee of 3 people for Listing violations: Have the problem reports
sent to 3 members (maybe even conceal the store/user name) and let them vote.
2 votes and the listing gets removed.

I'm sure we would be able to find members for a committee of 3 or maybe 5 very
quickly and that decisions on listings would be decided very quickly.

Obviously Admin and/or the CO would be able to appoint/remove those committee
members and Admin and maybe the CO would also be able to overrule them.

Ok, I have two different ideas to solve the problems with wanted lists timing
out. Here is solution one, solution two will follow shortly, please just vote
on the one you think might be the best way to address this.

So, when a seller uploads a large number of lots, and then attempts to notify,
the system can time-out due to too many emails being sent. When a seller tries
to send the notifications, a certain number are sent, and then the system stops
them from being sent. If the seller tries again, the same number of notifications
are sent, and then the system stops them at about the same point. This appears
to the buyers that have received multible emails from said seller, that the seller
is trying to spam them, when in fact they are just trying to send out notifications
once. Here is the real problem, this seller can no longer send out correct notifications,
because the original notifications remain in the system as "unsent". If they
add more lots, and try again, it repeats the cycle shown above, sending the same
people notifications.

Please allow sellers to "clear notifications", so that if they have too many
lots to notify, they can start over, and continue to add notifications at a later
date, only for new lots.

Again, please check my other suggestion, and vote on the best idea to solve the
problem.

Thanks so much,

Darren

Please add a "reccommended maximum lot addition" that will fall within the limitations
of the Bricklink system, to the help section on mass uploads. This would require
the help of some sellers, perhaps keeping track of some uploads, and notifications.
the info could be used to come up with a realistic number of lots that most likely
would not time out.

Again, please check my other suggestion, and vote on the best idea to solve the
problem.

Thanks so much,

I have some ideas on how to fix this problem.

Put a limit on the number of transactions allowed for new sellers.

One per day or 3 per week until established as a seller.

That would limit the damage done by a new seller.

I feel for the buyers that are not familiar with feedback system to spot these
styles of fraud.

Hello,

Love the wanted list, but a few things are hit and miss. I think one of the misses
is when browsing a store with a large wanted list, you often get multiple hits
for items (new & used) so I figured why not choose which you want to see when
you get to a store.

Here's what it could look like.

Thank you for voting,
Eric

I do know 'pending items' are pending for a reason: no one offically has them
yet, Lego has not released them for sale or display. However, I'm assuming the
people who add certain 'pending items' to the catalog have inside info that the
general population doesn't have. Please let me know if I am wrong, but items
that are currently pending have a high probably of officially being released?

My suggestion would allow items pending on Bricklink (i.e. soon-to-be-released
sets) to be added to an individual's wanted list now. That way someone could
be notified as soon as someone else on Bricklink is either selling the set or
inventorying it.

Example: I'm very interested in set 8110-1 Unimog U400. When will it officially
come out? Either I have no general idea, or I've missed a thread somewhere giving
these details. Or maybe I suck at Online researching. What better, and more lazy,
idea than to let Bricklink's wanted list notifications send me a message?

Just throwing another suggestion on the table for ya'! Thanks for reading,

- Chris

Color selection when adding an element to the wanted list:

"All colors EXCEPT xx colors"

This may have ben suggested before...if so, please forgive. I'm not sure how
such a thing could be implemented with the current pull-down interface, but MAN,
this feature would save me a lot of time and wanted list clutter.

Thanks for considering

We need publicly visible Wanted lists!
I think that would be better for the trading on here, so that you don't have
to poke around trying to find what someone wants...

My first suggestion. It probably won't be implemented, but it's worth a shot.

Let's say I'm looking for one of these:

Set No: 7595 Name: Army Men on Patrol
*
7595-1 (Inv) Army Men on Patrol
73 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2010
Sets: Toy Story

I add it to My Wanted List as a "New" conditioned set. I also want it to be
"Complete" or "Sealed". There is no option for this, so when I look for the
set through my wanted list, I see new sets, but not necessarily complete or sealed
sets.

I have to manually check the shops to see if it's not just the "Jeep Only" or
something like that.

Do you think that we could get something that would add a sub-condition to the
filter for wanted lists?

If there is something like this already, please reply with a link and let mods
cancel the thread.

Thanks in advance,

--JDB

I would like to recommend that after placing items in a shopping cart, my wanted
list gets updated to indicate that the item/quantity that has been allocated
for purchase (in x shopping cart at y store for example).

The justification is that I frequently find that not all my wanted list items
are satisfied by one vendor so I end up exerting alot of effort to manage what
I've allocated and what's remaining.

With this feature it could be possible to better determine the full actual cost
of the wanted list collection before committing to a purchase - which would be
the case today. This feature would allow shoppers to maximize the lowest price
or most convenient approach to purchasing parts before making any actual commitment.

There should be an option to get both the "Cheapest Match" and "Close Match"
for your Wanted list.

Cheapest Match Idea: This would compare stores that have all of your wanted
items and meet the minimum quantity needed by total price. It could calculate
the total cost to buy all of those items at the minimum quantity from each store
within the results and compare them in order to provide the cheapest store with
the best overall price. I have seen stores that have all my items charging $600
for the parts and then seeing another store with the same parts charging less
than $150. It would be nice to know which store is the cheapest for my particular
wanted list right off the bat rather than sifting through and filling 100s of
carts with items just to find out manually.

Close Match Idea: For example if you have 3 items set with a minimum quanity
of say 30x, there could be a store that has 30x of two items wanted and only
29x of the third item and because of that the store won't show at all. When
in reality it would be helpful to use that store if there is nothing better just
to minimize the amount of separate orders needed to fulfill your needs. If it
showed close matches it would not only offer more options but would eliminate
the need to keep changing your wanted list quantities trying to find a store
that carries all of your items closest to the quantity you need. So you could
get 29 of that item and know that you only need to add 1x that part in another
order to complete your wanted list.

So you would have the following filters:

Exact Match - The current feature that will only show stores with all your wanted
items that meet the minimum requirement set.

Close Match - This would show stores that have all of your wanted items but a
few of them do not meet the minimum requirement. It could maybe calculate that
at least 90% of the items wanted meet the minimum requirement OR it could calculate
whether all of the items meet at least 80-90% of the minimum requirement. Whichever
produces the best results.

Thanks for reading.

Dear Admin,

When viewing "Items On My Wanted List" in a store it shows "xx Lots Found".
The Wanted List quantity is not shown.

Please add the option to remove "(Ignoring My Wanted Qty and Price Criteria)".
The system would display the Wanted quantity per List as on the "By Shop" tab.

This option makes it easier to see how many wanted lots remain.
This new option could be added as checkbox on this page: http://www.bricklink.com/wantedSettings.asp.

Thank you for reading.

Not sure if this has been suggested before but I didn't find it in a cursory
search.

It would be nice if you could mass-select the Notify checkbox for all the items
in the edit view of a wanted list, just like you can do with the Move, Delete,
and Query Shops options.

For instance, I uploaded an XML wanted list (omitting the NOTIFY tag) - now I'd
like to change them all to NOT notify without having to select each item's checkbox
individually.

I could be missing a setting that dictates the default value for NOTIFY when
uploading items but this would still be a useful addition I think. Thoughts?
