Yes, depression can have a genetic component. Research shows that if a close
family member has depression, your risk of developing it may be higher. However,
genes are only part of the picture. Life experiences, environment, brain chemistry,
and stress also play major roles.

Just because depression runs in your family doesn’t mean you will definitely
experience it. Many people with a family history never develop depression, and
others without any family history can still be affected.

Understanding both genetic and environmental factors can help with early detection,
treatment, and prevention. If you're concerned, talking to a mental health
professional is a good first step.

This thread makes me depressed, thanks for making my life worse. I come here
for the relaxed chat, info on pizza with pineapples and the occasional questions
I ask like "is super glue bad for bricks".

Briefly, it started with a young woman’s sentiment towards her father at the
start of the 20th Century here in Washington. She got the idea of a day of recognition
for Fathers after hearing a Sunday sermon, wherein the preacher spoke on the
topic of Mothers and the virtues of motherhood. This woman being close to her
father, asked the preacher afterwards, if he’d consider giving a similar sermon
on the virtues of fatherhood. Anyway, the strength of her idea and her tenacity,
led to her eventually campaigning for it to become an actual day of celebration.
First locally, then statewide, to eventually being Federally recognized sometime
in the 70's by Congress for national celebration.

Today’s Father’s Day sprang from the love one determined daughter had for
her father. Pretty cool...

Got a “Happy Father’s Days” on my workout at the shore today, from a woman who
also shared with me that although her father is no longer with her, she still
celebrates the day by sitting under a particular tree overlooking the shore where
her father would enjoyed spending time with her and her mother. Just sit and
think about her dad. Told her I thought that is a very nice way to remember him.
If he’s still around, give your dad a call or just show-up. If he’s not, maybe
find your metaphorical tree

Thank you for sharing! I’d forgotten today was that day and I’d never looked into
its origin before!

Hope you had a wonderful Father's Day, Jason. Whether you're paterfamilias
yourself or with your father. Either way, carpe dies patris

i told my father several days early by mistake

glad to hear!

I did hoping they come to PAB so i don't have to pay $80 for them. I did
just buy 10x of the bright light blue torso on bricklink.

In my old Lego I found this "Train Level Crossing Gate Type 2, Crossbar with
Red Stripes Patter" with wrong molding axle hole.
Unfortunately the quality is low due to my young teeth , but I would like
to know if this molding error is quite common.
Thanks.

Do you think Is a rare or common case of wrong molding ?

My name is Andreas, and I’ve developed a free app for LEGO enthusiasts called
BrickInvest, available on both iOS and Android. The app helps users track, assess,
and manage their LEGO collections using real-time market data and historical
trends.

I can already track my collection using other software or by looking at it on
my shelves.

I cannot see how this helps me assess my collection, or manage my collection.
Real time data is just sales data and I'm not selling my collection, so for
my collection it is useless.

Thanks for feedback. This is not the feedback i have gotten from everyone. Multiple
users have talked about liking to track in i mobile format. 100% fair that you
dont find this useful.

While it's useful for those interested in the investment side of LEGO, it’s
also being used by fans to value entire collections — including for insurance
purposes — and to help price sets when buying or selling used bricks.

It seems likely that it is really only for investors and there are already tools
for tracking the market value and ROI performance for LEGO sets. For setting
the prices, there is sales data on Bricklink and ebay, where I can see raw data
for specific areas.

In my experience, insurers wouldn't be interested in the value given by an
app based on worldwide data, they'd want to see real examples of value based
in the correct market. And for anyone using it for valuing their stock in case
of a claim, then they better make sure it was proper business insurance they
had and not home insurance. And as it was for a business, then the insurer would
likely only pay out on actual costs of stock and not the perceived value based
on sales made by other people.

In my experience this is wrong. In my country a person insurance will ask if
you have a home worth x amount - and you can declare being a collector of differen
items. And they have to pay what the collection is worth based on market value
and NOT time of purchase. This also includes art, collection cars, furniture
or even LEGO.

A major update is coming soon with even more useful features, and I’d love to
hear your thoughts on how the app could be improved to better serve the LEGO
community.

To be clear: this is not a promotional post. I’m simply looking for constructive
feedback and suggestions from experienced LEGO fans who might find the tool helpful.

You don't seem to be a seller or a buyer or have any footprint to show you
are part of this "LEGO community" that you want to help (or make money
from). And you don't seem to have done market research about what is already
available. Presumably there is some financial reason for developing it and then
promoting it both here and at Eurobricks where you joined just to promote your
app even though you say you are not promoting it.

I dont sell LEGO. correct. Im just interrested in it, build it and own it. I
am really seeking feedback and this was the best way i saw fit.
To be clear, that app is not something i am profitting from. And i dont see i
ever will. I work as a software engineer and really just care about building
something useful as a hobby. The app has a few expenses and i currently dont
foresee income matching expenses.
While i could just not make a post in different places, and ask people what they
think - i do care about what i have build and like to seek feedback.
I asked in another post, without mentioning the name of the app, to ask for permission
or "ideas" how i could ask feedback. And was let here.
I also have not mentioned the name of the app on Eurobricks - to not promote.
To ask permission before doing anything.
I dont know about you, but i like to live in a world were its okay to ask politely
if people want to give feedback. And i fully expect people to decline giving
feedback, or not like it or get mad.
But again, thanks for the comments!

Best, Andreas

Before downloading the app I have a few comments.
I would put your description through some AI or a professional copywriter as
it could be much more punchy. Avoid the use of so many exclamation points!!!
😁

On the concept as a whole it sounds a bit too much like Brick Economy and while
I enjoy doing a lot of my mobile or tablet, I am not sure I would see it as the
medium to catalogue my collection.

There are unspecified in-app purchases showing. As a rule I would never bother
with an app that stated in app purchases but made no indication of when these
would be required. Is it to remove ads, is it to have more than x sets, etc,
etc.It would be helpful if that was clear.

Since downloading the app I can see that there seems to be 3 different in app
purchases. Two of which would appear to be free on Brick Economy, which would
not encourage to go further, especially where it is locked to a signal currency,
that is a red flag. The most expensive one is ad removal which would be another
red flag for me personally.

While there is no login, I am presuming the data is stored only locally on my
device, which would suggest I would need to add my collection on all of my devices,
and maintain them across all of my devices. That agin will limit it’s use.

The Ui is ok, basic but sensibly laid out. I always suggest to people to look
at the competition and see what your application’s USP is in comparison.
Apologies if these seem overly negative, but a 25 year veteran software engineer
I am being as direct as I would be at work 😁

Thank you for the feedback. Negative or not, its indeed useful.
Regarding the IAP - there is some ongoing server costs, developer fees and currency
rate cost that i had to factor in to keep the app alive - i also see brickeconomy
has premium membership with a yearly price. I wish i could do everything for
free, but that is just not possible.
The data is stored only locally on your device, i have been looking into import
/ export features, as well as icloud backup or an optional login. This is gonna
be a thing at somepoint - but SOLO dev with full time job and other projects,
i had to limit myself somehow

And 100% agree that the app store description should be optimized, will add to
my todo list!

Again thanks for the feedback - really.

Parts: Train {White}

In my old Lego I found this "Train Level Crossing Gate Type 2, Crossbar with
Red Stripes Patter" with wrong molding axle hole.
Unfortunately the quality is low due to my young teeth , but I would like
to know if this molding error is quite common.
Thanks.

I only have 2 of that part. I just checked mine, and they are both like yours
on the left. (I assume the left one is the "correct" type.)
