If the logo is on them, they're real (the converse is not true, of course).
But:
- they could be cellulose acetate (CA) - old bricks
- they could be Samsonite (Samsonite made Lego bricks under license and they
used the "open O" logo on them - sometimes you'll see bricks with upside-down
or sideways logos on the studs)
- they could be one of the newer plastics used by TLG

| I've been collecting/buying Lego for the past 20 years and I sometimes see
such differences between seemingly 'identical' parts. It could be mold
wear, but most likely parts made at various plants, and the molds do not always
have the same 'finish'. Also, in the past many parts were shiny, but
it seems lately Lego has switched to more 'matte' parts are those more
robust to scratches.

I got a batch of wide treads (part 42479) on Bricklink that do have the LEGO
logo on them, but are definitely fake (see picture - real on left). They are
shiny, not matte. I have the same part from a kit I bought at Legoland, and they
look totally different. I'd really like to know what to do next; should I
contact the vendor about it? Report it to someone on Bricklink? Post about it
and identify the vendor for everyone to see? This is my very first post on Bricklink,
so any guidance is much appreciated!

OK this is it!
On some pictures the viaduc isn't impressive due to the camera distortion
of the lengths...
We arrived from the North, somewhere here:

I didn't upload the movie, because it's a bit long and boring (3+ minutes,
you can't see through the fences).
Pics from December 2009 including our wonderful technological Camping Car - which
had a satelite Internet antenna to process orders and manage the shop while we
were traveling.
One of our cat, Saï Saï, is seen on second picture I believe
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gb16ovlf5tunsfd/AABBFkqsszjkKJAAF5jrXn-0a?dl=0
The price to use it is impressive also
Around 17€ in summer for a camping car, for a couple of minutes.
Voilà.

Sad but true, something I’ll never get over.
This obviously prevents me reaching the top of high rise buildings which would

the Washington Monument to become the tallest human-made structure in the world,
a title it held for 41 years until the Chrysler Building in New York City was
finished in 1930. It was the first structure in the world to surpass both the
200-metre and 300-metre mark in height.

And the thousand feet mark (that was its ‘goal’ for the 1889 Universal Exposition).
Funny that the EN wikipedia doesn’t say that.

I only recently learned that the Statue of Liberty was designed by the same person

Yes, the Eiffel Tower was named after the name of the Author: Mr Tower!

Yes, the same designer as the most famous bridge in London, also named after
this same author.
There is also a smaller version of the Statue of Liberty in Paris.

the Washington Monument to become the tallest human-made structure in the world,
a title it held for 41 years until the Chrysler Building in New York City was
finished in 1930. It was the first structure in the world to surpass both the
200-metre and 300-metre mark in height. Due to the addition of a broadcasting
aerial at the top of the tower in 1957, it is now taller than the Chrysler Building
by 5.2 meters (17 ft). Excluding transmitters, the Eiffel Tower is the second
tallest free-standing structure in France after the Millau Viaduct.

How it was built is very interesting too. (Up-up-up for the pillars, push-push-push
for the deck(s) )
As for the Eiffel tower, it’s built on a swamp. They used caissons. It was
one of the first use of compressed caissons with some subway lines under the
Seine river.
First decompression sickness cases too.

Maybe it depends on how you build it.
Analogy (not sure if the story is true, but the phenomenom is real):
When the Japanese built the lines for the Shinkansen, they had trouble with the
catenaries. It appeared that there was a resonance because the length between
pillars was too regular. They solved the problem by specifying different lengths
between the pillars.
No proplem in France with the TGV lines. No specification needed
So maybe you need to not be too precise in building the model and the problem
doesn’t appear

Hmm, a brick is 0.96cm. Multiplied by 220 it’s 2.112m. A basket ball team?
If you take an average adult human at around 1.6-1.7m, that’s 0.72-0.77cm at
1:220, so 2.3-2.4 plates.
A stud is 2.5 plates. So I’d use transparent 1x1 tiles with pictures on them.

Ah yes, I estimated on a stud 0.80 cm, but the height is larger...

To complement the other answers: it’s not even ‘trophy’ scale.
would be a 4m tall (13 feet tall) giant.

| Thank you so much to everyone that responded. I really appreciate all the part
identifications and creative suggestions. This gives me some awesome ideas to
make a really good figure for my son. He will be so excited!

No, it should measure 24' approx
Eiffel Tower is freaking HUGE.
|
From Wikipedia:
The tower is 330 meters (1,083 ft) tall,[5] about the same height as an 81-storey
building, and the tallest structure in Paris. Its base is square, measuring 125
meters (410 ft) on each side. During its construction, the Eiffel Tower surpassed
the Washington Monument to become the tallest human-made structure in the world,
a title it held for 41 years until the Chrysler Building in New York City was
finished in 1930.
My edit:
I was wrong on my scale post, it is 1:220 not 1:200

| No, too big and too expensive. My ideal pricing for large sets is about $200-250.
Occasionally, I will buy a $300-400 model like the Diagon Alley or Lion Castle.

| Might I suggest using the hip piece from this minifigure?
That way it looks more like boots instead of pants, without compromising on him
having a belt. Here's a list of all legs with Medium Nougat hips, but those
legs seemed to be the closest fit I could find.

it has a face on either side, so the back one will be showing with that hat.

An alcohol wipe can soon sort that. Or a wipe with an essential oil or alcohol
based hand sanitiser.

Here's a few to start:
Not sure if the head and/or torso are genuine Lego prints though
