Hi,

I sell items from Vietnam. Some orders sold to Germany
automatically added VAT.
How can I eliminate the VAT since it is
International sales?

Thank you!

Yes, it is official. However, we limited the scope of communication to members
who had initially shown interest in the development of this feature.

Hello Admin Russell,

I have in the past couple years sent a couple emails to the helpdesk requesting
this feature and have asked for the feature to be added on multiple occasions.
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1390647

I sent a helpdesk request under other issues.

Since I need to send in a couple pdfs, hopefully there will be an email address
to attach the documentation to.

Alex

Use the link in this Help page for the exact email address:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2467#exemptions

email address: bricklink@support.lego.com

subject line: US tax exemption

You should be able to send an attachment when using the email address.

Officially 2 weeks, but since we are focusing on this at the moment, it should
be considerably less.

Just BrickLink, and just for reselling. Non-profits like schools are currently
not covered.

Seems they added it to this page too:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2467

Maybe it is just implemented and want to verify a few users first to see it all
works good before a wide announcement.

I am new to Bricklink. I ONLY buy sets for use in livestreams and YouTube. I
am wondering how I can register my company name and VAT number somewhere to get
it on the invoices so it's easier to get the VAT back.

Any suggestions? I only seem to find answers about SELLERS adding their VAT info,
not about buyers.

Be aware that not all sellers here will charge VAT, or be able supply a VAT invoice.

It only shows if the list is not empty.

So if you filed your latest orders (and ‘filed’ are filtered out by default)
or haven’t ordered for 6 months, it’s not there 🤦

Hello,

I’ve purchased an order from overseas and had it shipped to Australia. My total
order value including shipping fees was below $1000AUD. Therefore I have paid
10% GST to Bricklink as per Bricklink’s terms.

My package was held in customs after they inform me the order had a declared
value of over $1100AUD (more than $200AUD over the actual value I paid). Customs
has sent me a bill of over $200AUD for GST and duties fees as a result. I have
sent customs my invoice and proof of purchase to verify my order was under $1000AUD
and they have verified that there was an error and have refunded the GST fees.
However they are saying that a $115AUD duties fee is non-refundable as that was
charged for the inspection process. This fee would not be attracted if the order
was correctly valued at the amount I paid for it.

The seller is claiming they’ve followed all processes correctly and attached
the necessary forms. They have said that Bricklink has automatically generated
the invoice on their end that shows the order value of over $1100AUD. So it appears
there is an error with Bricklink’s generated invoice system, as the invoice I
have as the buyer was completely different in value to the seller’s invoice.
Bricklink have not responded to any of my requests for assistance.

What is the best course of action for me? Has anyone else in Australia had a
similar experience and how was it resolved?

Many thanks

so bricklink calculates everything including added fees (postage, paypal, etc..)
is that right? (I didn't read anywhere in the help that it would only be
the price for the goods) So I will also count everything the same as last year,
thank you for the answer

In Taxes, SylvainLS writes:

I don't want to become a payer because of the added bureaucratic burden,
so I'm keeping an eye on it. I would like to know what exactly I should monitor,
last year I monitored everything including postage and paypal fees, but I read
somewhere that they do not count towards the limit, so how is it really?
thank you for the answers or the correct direction to the help where it is written.

The €10k threshold replaces the previous by-country thresholds for non-domestic
sales, so it works the same way, and that’s the same way as domestic sales: it’s
your total sales.

BrickLink and PayPal fees are parts of your costs, exactly like buying the LEGO
you sell.  You don’t remove your costs from your sales when you consider your
total sales.

Postage is a cost too.  There’s rare cases where it can be excluded but they
don’t apply on BL.

No. But hopefully when the birdbrain arrives, we will be. I see potential in
he and I getting drunk together

Public embarrassment maybe?

Hopefully, if things go well

Other than that you will have to register for VAT if you think you will earn
more than 10.000 Euro (not 100% sure on the number) in 12 consecutive months.

Great, thanks for the info ! By the time I move, get a place to live, get my
stuff from Canada (by boat of course so it will take months), it will take at
least a year or two before I will be able to reopen my store.

Thanks for the info about the threshold amount as well. I'll try looking
on Internet to confirm it but so far I haven't found anything.

That threshold is for intra-EU sales excluding domestic.  So all of EU but Spain.

Otherwise, each EU country has its own thresholds and procedures and statuses.

The domestic VAT threshold can go from €0 to €90,800.  AFAICT, Spain’s threshold
is €0.  So every professional should get a VAT number in Spain.

Searching “EU VAT thresholds” leads to that page: https://www.vatcalc.com/eu/2023-eu-vat-registration-intrastat-thresholds/

Searching “VAT registration Spain” leads to that page: https://administracion.gob.es/pag_Home/en/Tu-espacio-europeo/derechos-obligaciones/empresas/impuestos/IVA/registro-pago.html

(Note that many EU countries have governmental pages in multiple languages… except
France 🤷‍♂️)

But as you’ll have been in Spain for many months before opening, you’ll have
time to ask a real local expert

Wow amazing!! Thanks a lot. It will be a good start for me. Getting an accountant
is also a very good idea. That’s probably what i will do. I’m so unfamiliar
with all this since i didn’t need to register here in Quebec as i didn’t reach
the threshold.

I’m really looking forward to moving. I spent 15 years in Quebec. It was great
but now it’s time for something else! I want to get back to my roots, probably
spend a bit of time in France while looking for a place to live in Spain. It’sa
good thing i still have my French passport. It will make things easier!

A few years ago the threshold to register was if you surpassed the annual minimum
salary amount, nowadays its 15.876€

Good luck on the move, see you under the same sun!

Thanks ! I'm so looking forward to moving to Spain. It will most probably
be on La Costa Blanca either Alicante or Valencia. Let me know if you know the
area. We could chat via email.

I'm in the process of listing everything that must be done first. So many
things to think about it's almost overwhelming ! The administrative part
will be the most tricky (transferring Canadian and Quebec pension to Spain while
closing everything here and finding a place to live in Spain, etc.).

Sounds as if you've embraced "carpe diem" Not many of us do...

Not Spanish, but have lived and worked (operated) abroad for many years of my
life. My advise is to learn Spanish (Castilian) well, make the effort. Having
command of the native language is fundamental in opening prospects in your new
cultural home.

Thanks for the advice. I actually took Spanish classes in high school when I
was in France and in University as well. So I'm still pretty good at reading
it. But I lost the "talk" so I'll definitely get some classes for
that.

Good idea.

First place I landed abroad, I was required to take a submersive language/culture
course, 5 days a week/8 hours a day. Felt like brainwashing, in that I literally
could not stop processing (turn off) the language or absorption of my surroundings
vis-à-vis advertising, etc. that I was surrounded by on the subway home or elsewhere
on the town. Crazy stuff... But it did definitely paid off for me, being immersed
so completely into the culture so quickly.

Thanks in advance for all the information you could give me.

Is it really that bad over in Quebec?

I'm actually French and feel like coming back to Europe. I chose Spain
for the number of days of sun and for the health system (among a lot of other
things).

Oh I'm jealous now, ah Jamón Serrano!

Yummy!!!

Oh yeah we love it here . Its so easy to see wildlife everywhere, lots of national
parks that are easy accessible. Also I'm earning more than I did in Belgium
and have to pay less taxes here

Great to hear!

There are some downsides though, you need a car to do basically anything,

interesting! I've heard in Europe things are generally closer so that would
make sense

almost all stores/ restaurants are chains and groceries are pretty expensive.

Yeah it can get quite expensive if you shop at metro, loblaws, etc but even so
I still find my local freshco, food basics, no frills, etc to be decently aforadbale.
i can get 4 pounds of ground chicken for $10 (its normal price not a sale price)
(which for those curious is about 7.37 USD)

Hmm, here at no frills a log of baloney is up to $40

When moving to a different country be aware that you'll need to keep everything
you bring into the new country for at least a year otherwise you'll have
to pay a bunch of extra taxes & fees.

Other than that you will have to register for VAT if you think you will earn
more than 10.000 Euro (not 100% sure on the number) in 12 consecutive months.

Yeah I moved from Ireland to Canada last year

How has the first year been?

Its been great so far, met a bunch of new people, saw a bunch of animals that
I only saw in a zoo before (and some that I've never seen in real life before)
and its so easy to go to a national park and leave the city behind for a few
hours.

I take it you like nature
I think where I live we have to much of it!
E.g. Bears breaking into peoples houses. A few years ago one ripped the door
off our shed!

Price of living in the worlds second largest country

There are a few things we didn't expect:
- The amount of wildfires that happen

Blame arson

   - the size of the country (My home country Belgium literally fits between Edmonton
& Calgary)
- Seeing a Tornado in Alberta
