All Tires in Bricklink have the same problem now:

1) When mated to a Wheel, the tire always ends up on a corner of the "contact
patch" (the greenish box showing the size of the tire, rather than staying
on a side.

2) Any attempt to rotate the tire to a side results in all three rotation arrows
activating, and cause the entire model to rotate, regardless of which arrow is
used.

3) It is impossible to screenshot any of this, as any attempt to screenshot results
in the arrows being switched off.

This needs to be fixed yesterday.

You can use the WASD keys (configurable; step depends on the Grid; direction
depends on the camera angle), or the arrow keys in the Translation tool (https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5411126626199-Translation-tool
).

That being said, the dedicated forum for Studio and PartDesigner is https://forum.bricklink.com/
(hover over the red Studio icon on every page, then click “Studio Forum”).

Please search the forum for your question before posting a new one (the search
box is in the very dark grey banner).
There’s indexes of known bugs and suggestions that you can browse first:
Studio: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5579
PartDesigner: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5589

And read/search the help pages: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/

Thanks, don't mean to spam the forum, just usually don't build larger
things on Studio and am kinda overwhelmed

I have been dealing with this problem since the past year, and I hoped it will
be fixed by now, but unfortunately, it remain unsolved.

Could you please advise on this matter?

Hi,

First, the dedicated forum for Studio and PartDesigner is https://forum.bricklink.com/
(hover over the red Studio icon on every page, then click “Studio Forum”).

You can search the forum for your question before posting a new one (the search
box is in the very dark grey banner).
There’s also indexes of known bugs and suggestions that you can browse first:
Studio: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5579
PartDesigner: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5589

Then, there’s been a few bugs with the COLLADA export but, AFAIK, they have almost
all been fixed.

One thing that may happen though is a problem with submodels: it seems the submodels’
positions are not always understood (by Blender for instance).
The main thread is here: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6159
(And people alluded to it a couple times… but without specifics.)

So I would first try to release all the submodels before exporting.

Anyway, note that the COLLADA format doesn’t pose any problem to Eyesight (it’s
the same as the DAE sent to Eyesight, the Photorealistic renderer, based on Blender’s
Cycles).
Also, as you can see, the afore mentioned thread is short and has had no follow-up,
so I’m not sure it has been fixed and came back (doesn’t seem so but I don’t
have all the infos on the bugs) but what I’m certain of is that no one bumped
it.
I’m not saying that bugs always need to be bumped to be solved but it sure helps
to know people are interested in seeing them fixed

My younger brother built it about a year ago.
This is the 4th revision.

I just wanted to test the ability of studio, so I used this as a test.
Was very pleased with the results.

I tried, good for simple short shapes.

bend it nicely (no noodle), then export as .obj, then import in PD, then studio...

Yeah, and that’s a lot of steps.

Apart the time to bend the hose how you wish, it takes an extra 30 seconds, bof.

I use LeoCAD for huge building, for those bent parts, or more often for placing
things Studio refuse to, while legit and constructible of course...

I'll try with studio, but with LeoCad you can do very nice curves adding
as many "handles" (don't remind the term) to make as many curve points
you wish...

Yep, just like the BrickLink we wish.

But then one in the Forum will say "We need a MOC Shop" (or such idea)

So, no, you can’t import an LDraw file with flexed parts made in LeoCAD.  You
indeed need to go through another format to force LeoCAD to write the triangles
of the part when flexed, and then use PartDesigner.

“Studio can flex it” = https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/6481921905303-Flexible-parts

“…hahaha” = the part actually becomes an overcooked noodle, it’s stretched, and
it goes every which way but the one you want.

“importing the straight LDraw part” = if the hose is XX and you import a file
that just uses XX.dat, then you’re importing the unflexed part.  And, AFAICT,
LeoCAD doesn’t bend parts in its LDraw files.  It uses the part (XX.dat) and
adds a comment to tell itself how to bend the part when it will reload it.  That
comment is obviously not interpreted by PartDesigner or Studio (or LDView or
other LDraw tools).

So, no, you can’t import an LDraw file with flexed parts made in LeoCAD.  You
indeed need to go through another format to force LeoCAD to write the triangles
of the part when flexed, and then use PartDesigner.

(
I think something similar happens with LDCad, but with its own syntax of course.
LSynth ‘correctly’ uses subparts to make the flexed parts… but then it has
no UI.  And so you can keep everything in the LDraw format.  But you also end
up with multiple (sub)parts and no relation to the BrickLink part… so you generally
also go through PartDesigner to add that.
  IINM, MLCad uses LSynth.
For LDD, you can use lxf2ldr(.html), my converter(s), that generates() LSynth
commands (so you need LSynth too).
)

BTW, I just spent an hour on this, if you import an lDraw file containing a Hose
rigid 3mm in PartDesigner, then when you export to Studio it shows an "empty"
(void) part.

Same if directly importing a Hose rigid 3mm in PD and Export it to Studio.

Hmm, it must be because the part is flexible in Studio.  But that’s weird.

The exported part simply says “use XX.dat,” where XX.dat is the 3D model for
the hose.  So Studio sees it the same way as the flexible part… well, I’m not
clear on why that prevents Studio from showing it but that’s the only lead I
have

The only way it works is:
* create or import the lDraw in Leocad,
* export as Wavefront (.obj),
* import in PD,
* export to Studio.

In that case, you’re exporting a new 3D model, not linked to the part’s (file)name.
So Studio doesn’t have it in its database.

Maybe it could also work if you simply fed PD the XX.dat of the part but under
another filename.
(Studio doesn’t have the subparts/primitives u9053.dat (end) and 77.dat (hose
section) as parts and even less as flexible parts, so there should be no need
to do the rename dance further down the hierarchy.)

Or, depending what's your doing, simply opening the lDraw in Studio, copy
this part(s) and past if (them) in Studio.

Or just directly use the part that’s in Studio, no?

It seems to me like the amount on Stud.io is less than it used to be.

I don’t think so: Studio never removes parts just for the fun of it   But I
also haven’t memorized all the decorated parts.
Oh, I just remembered I have a file with all the minifig parts for BDP4… and
they are still there.

So maybe you’re remembering wrong or you’re filtering by colour or in the wrong
palette.
See the help page: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/8117942037911-Missing-parts
or the Parts FAQ https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6368 for more
info about that.

I was probably just remembering wrong. Thanks!

Well, the Faun/Animal legs aren’t in Studio now and they weren’t there as of

There were ugly converted-from-LDD 3D models and those were cleaned and made

IDK about Mecabricks but LeoCAD can’t create it for you if you don’t download

If you’re going through PD, there’s no reasons to go through a .obj file: PD

Not available in the free version.  (Clearly shown by the comments under the

It’s either the Pro version, a fake, or a (very complicated) trick made by adding
hidden parts and universal joints.

See https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/99684-working-gears-in-ldd/
(First video isn’t there any more but the LXF file still is.)

and connecting pins, axles, Technic bricks and liftarms was easier (IIRC).

Sort of.  It had fewer possibilities for placement, so it made it easier.

   But
yeah, it was a looooong while back, so I might indeed be wearing a shade of pink
in my spectacles.

As for flexible things - I didn't test too many options BITD TBH, but what
I needed worked and worked well. I don't recall having crashes,

I do.

but I probably didn't strain LDD too hard.

I didn’t.  Just flexing a hose or two.  I learned to save my work before doing
it

Also, I can’t find the posts on Eurobricks right now but I remember that, in
the last couple updates, it had weird glitches with some 3mm hoses: triangles
all over the place when you flexed them.

It certainly never stuttered or glitched like Studio,

Well, it certainly didn’t like big models.  Two modulars together was hard for
it.  (And that was the 1000 parts modulars of the time, not the last 4000 parts
ones )

however I do prefer Studio to LDD; especially the colours - I will never,
ever get used to Lego's naming convention for the colours (which always looked
awful in LDD too).

LDD (Lego Digital Designer) was pretty good for simple technic mechanisms

Functionnal: Only hinges, never gears.  And it sometimes crashed when you tried
to use a hinge.

Building: It had hinge-connect: to automatically hinge multiple connections to
make triangles (or polygons).
It had a tendency to also move the ends / anchors, so that you got your triangle
but it was not sitting right any more.
It also tended to crash when doing that.

(and other things that Studio is rubbish with, like flexible parts)

YMMV.  It had bugs with some flexible parts too.

   IIRC.

It’s called the ‘Good Old Days’ syndrome

   It's
old and very outdated, but there are some unofficial mods that you can add, so
you can update the partlist significantly, but these probably aren't necessary
for your needs.

If you’re on Windows 10/11, it’ll be necessary to look into the Eurobricks forum
though because the last version (4.3.12) installs but doesn’t work and the previous
version (4.3.11) works but needs some tricks to be installed.

Gears worked in LDD - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQ5jiikMJoQ

and connecting pins, axles, Technic bricks and liftarms was easier (IIRC). But
yeah, it was a looooong while back, so I might indeed be wearing a shade of pink
in my spectacles.

As for flexible things - I didn't test too many options BITD TBH, but what
I needed worked and worked well. I don't recall having crashes, but I probably
didn't strain LDD too hard. It certainly never stuttered or glitched like
Studio, however I do prefer Studio to LDD; especially the colours - I will never,
ever get used to Lego's naming convention for the colours (which always looked
awful in LDD too).

There was SR3D but I don't know if this still works...

See here:

Apart this, Fusion 360 or such generic parametric CADs, but then it'll REALLY
be a huuuuuuuuuge task.

I've added an inventory tracking tool to the web-portal that can be used
when you run BLS Manager or InSpaceSync locally or hosted. It tracks items added
or removed manually or from orders. The data can be exported to Excel including
lot data, segmented by day, week, month, quarter, or year. This will help you
track growth and rediscover what you uploaded 5 weeks ago.

BLS Manager can be downloaded from: https://inspacesoftware.com/blsmanager and
is free to use with InSpaceSync in ReadOnly mode. FullSync is a paid service.

Or open it in LeoCAD or mecabricks,

The problem is “it”: the file is not in LDraw, so you need to get it from Digital-bricks.de.
IDK about Mecabricks but LeoCAD can’t create it for you if you don’t download
it first.

Ah didn't know it wasn't in the cad lib!
Sure then...

save as .obj, and import this is Part Designer,

If you’re going through PD, there’s no reasons to go through a .obj file: PD
can import the LDraw .dat file.

Yep, apart if you wish to modify it, like bending a Hose.

  Sounds like a mathematician’s solution:
Problem 1: You a match, a pot.  How do you make boiled water?
Problem 2: You have a fire, a match, a pot full of water.  How do you make boiled
water?

Then you must be a maths teacher!

Unless you’re talking about using an LDD/LXF file with that dolphin.  That would
mean you need LDD to make that file first.

And then:
1. I still don’t see how LeoCAD could import it if there’s no LDraw file for
it on your system first.
2. Studio can also import LDD files and has some of Digital Bricks’ files to
do that even when the parts aren’t in its Main palette (but not that dolphin).

Sounds like a mathematician’s solution:

Problem 1: You a match, a pot.  How do you make boiled water?
Solution 1: You find wood.  You arrange the wood to make a fire.  You light it.
You find a source of water.  You fill the pot with water.  You put the pot on
the fire.  You wait.

Problem 2: You have a fire, a match, a pot full of water.  How do you make boiled
water?
Solution 2: You empty the pot on the fire.  You’re now in the same situtation
as problem 1.

it'll make a Custom part - IIRC, didn't do this for a few months

I'm looking for a specific dolphin part (Item No: 33499pb01) that is in the
Bricklink marketplace and in a new Lego set (60438). However, I can't find
it in Bricklink Studio, even though I've searched for it and checked the
filters. I also tried to import it from LDraw, but they don't have a 3D model
for it either.

This part is essential for my project, and I don't want to use any other
dolphin parts (such as Item No: 13392pb01). Is there any way to get this part
in Bricklink Studio? How can I solve this problem?

Hi,

First, the usual note: the dedicated forum for Studio and PartDesigner
is https://forum.bricklink.com/ (hover over the red Studio icon on every page,
then click “Studio Forum”).

Please search the forum for your question before posting a new one (the search
box is in the very dark grey banner).
There’s indexes of known bugs and suggestions that you can browse first:
Studio: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5579
PartDesigner: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5589

There’s a subforum, aptly named “Studio Parts,” to ask for parts: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewforum.php?f=6
And there’s a nice “I can’t find this part” FAQ https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6368

Then, there’s a 3D model on digital-bricks.de, a raw conversion from LDD,
plain/no decor.  You can import it in Studio through PartDesigner.
(And it even doesn’t look as bad as LDD models generally look )

Or open it in LeoCAD or mecabricks, save as .obj, and import this is Part Designer,
it'll make a Custom part - IIRC, didn't do this for a few months
