I was made an offer from a user that is currently not a seller. I am considering
it but want to make sure everything is done in a manner that is not going to
anger the admins or violate policy.

A simple transfer of my account would mean they do not have to upload the inventory
all over...so that seems easiest to me. Then I got to thinking maybe that isn't
allowed and maybe there is another way to go about a transfer.

I'm going through the TOS now and I may come across the relevant answer but
I figured someone has to have had a similar situation before and maybe they can
offer an answer that will save me time and keep me from violating any rules.

ima message 1001bricks real quick since he can probably explain it better

lol

As the "seller":

* simply close your shop (or make impossible orders like with no shipping method
or $99K minimum)

* then download your Inventory file invxml.txt here:
https://www.bricklink.com/invExcel.asp

Be sure to check XML and "Include My Stockroom Inventory" (to be sure).

Transmit this file to the buyer, e-mail or wetransfer.com...

Buyer then can download BrickStore (free, open-source), import this file, check/change
prices, whatever and upload to his shop.

Warning - one should upload by batches of maximum 300 lots maybe.
It's not a BrickStore problem, but BrickLink / the browser won't accept
too big uploads.

You can also inmport your bricklink inventory straight into brickstore (and send
that file to the buyer). No need for the invxml

Yes but he's the seller, he doesn't need a program to download his inventory.
The buyer does.

no. accounts cannot be traded or sold. you can sell the inventory but not the
account. you can help the potential buyer out by downloading your store inventory
and then giving them the file

I should dispute the overcharge for shipping with my credit card company.

What would you be complaining about? You were told there was a service charge
for shipping and handling and decided to go ahead and pay. Just because it cost
the seller less than you paid is not grounds to complain to the payment provider.
You agreed to the full price when you chose to pay, to later expect to be able
to reverse the payment because you feel you overpaid on one aspect of the transaction
is not really fair. And you might get stoplisted by other sellers if that is
your attitude towards sales made here.

I agreed to pay shipping on two separate orders that then got shipped together.
The total shipping charge for those two orders was nearly $24. The seller shipped
via a method that cost $5. If the seller was going to combine the two orders
into one shipment and still charge $24, then a faster shipping method should
have been used that reflected the $24 charge. It's very clear in the invoice
that there was an additional $3 charge assessed to each order. I have no idea
what that charge was for, but I'm not disputing that charge. That's
probably a handling charge. $6 for handling is more than fair.
It's VERY clear that this seller was listing things for an extraordinarily
low price to be at the top of the list and to avoid BL fees and then making money
on the shipping of the items. I have no problem paying a reasonable shipping
fee, with even a few extra dollars charged to cover shipping supplies, etc.
But to refuse to group items into a single order and then charge about $18 more
than shipping actually costs is shady. I'm ok if sellers with this business
practice don't want to sell to me.

What has any of yhat got to do with trying to get a refund through your credit
card?

And it is not shady sellers that may stop you, but decent ones that see you make
credit card chargebacks for anything you disagree with once you receive an order.
If you disagreed with the costs once invoiced, then you should not have paid
but instead asked for a cancellation due to high shipping costs.

But to refuse to group items into a single order and then charge about $18 more

practice don't want to sell to me.

I don't know if it was instant check-out or you submitted a quote or you
just ordered and the shipping charges were added. In the latter case, if it was
added after you ordered, did they follow their terms? If so, then it does not
matter if the shipping charges were $24 and they paid only $5. They wanted, for
some reasons, to charge $24 for shipping costs but they were clear and transparent
about it in their terms (or instant check-out, or quote request....) In this
case, you have no ground to complain and how they did business is correct.

On the side note, the difference between $24 and $5 is huge and they chose to
do business in a way that does not help them.
I have had buyers who ordered from me multiple times, one buyer more than 10
times, and this is because they were happy with everything. I also ordered from
some stores multiple times for the same reason.

Overall, it is ok and there may be reasons a seller want to charge high handling
fees. In one case, a store wanted to charge $7 while the shipping costed $2.05
but I know shipping items for time are more time consuming than for me. They
explained the shipping charges in their terms and I may be happy to order from
that store.

If you just submitted an order in a store that do not have instant check-out,
do not have quote request enabled, and do not explain shipping charges in their
stores, then in my opinion you should not have ordered from this store.

P.S. I don't stoplist you and I think others should and can understand why
you are upset and don't stoplist you

I understand your frustration.

But yes, you may have read more carefully the Shop Terms - few do, I don't

On the other side, you complained, and for any reason, this shop is closed, fair
enough.

You paid but received the goods, IMO it's too late to complain about the
price paid, I wouldn't anyway.

Also note that shipping price has NOT to be equal to postal price.
I'd say it's often or the more often not the case.

+1 I do agree with this even if it was overcharged shipping it was still willingly
paid

I'm fairly new here, but is it standard practice to keep the prices REALLY
low to reduce the BL fee and show up at the top of the list, refuse to group
lots so that shipping has to be paid twice and then charge over 200-300% of the
actual shipping price to "make" money that way?

Report them to bricklink. Those stores often get shut down

As has already been said, no it isn’t.

This is why I always check both feedback and terms of the store I’m viewing,
these stores are immediately discarded as I don’t trust them.

No, it isn't. If a store does that then click on favorite stores at the top
of the page, then bookmark, then the down thumb. If you make sure you exclude
least favourites from future searches, then you won't see that store again.

No no, not this link - I guess the (duplicate) question hasn't been understood?

Ah I see not a duplicate.

But you can't contact BrickLink administration like this, in forum (except
cases where Russell reads...)

I'm not sure what the proper way to contact them, but I'd try:
https://www.bricklink.com/v3/help/contact.page

Or open a ticket here (opening an account with the same member name):
https://helpdesk.bricklink.com

You may expect a long delay unfortunately.

Ah now that is progress. Thank you so much 1001bricks, it is okay I have time.

Update: in fact he wanted to ask if it's normal that BrickLink seems to request
his ID Card copy to become a Seller. Replied that yes.

Ah, good that his question was answered. I suppose the next question will be:
How do I get a feedback?

Or "How do I unregister to BrickLink?"

Of course not; it's not your concern.
BrickLink *may* have it, but a buyer cannot ask for this.

I like boywithuke a lot, it might be the sad vibe, or the ukelele.

I just love the music!

He is decent but let's just say he has some "unique images" that were "interesting"
(On ig (alt account) I was able to get so many people angry at me on one of his
posts but it was so much fun )

We here decided that whatever the price of a part could be, we'll never set
it for less than 0.02€ (or 0.02$ if you wish).

Because as we don't have ANY minimum, even with a 0.02€ part and say a huge
margin, you don't pay the 30 seconds salary to pick this single part

maybe add a minimum? (or are you trying to keep a high order total )

We've bit extra added in the shipping fees for its packaking and base costs
(stickers...)

We've calculated (evaluated, say) picking as an average; no problem to take
3 minutes to make a 1 part order if you've also 30 minutes orders with 2000+
parts.

It's also hoping for the future.
Many new/recent buyers just take a couple of parts, but after a couple or few
order, they may end up with 100€+ orders when they feel comfortable.

Wow, your store has alot of parts!

Thank you

To get my store organised/stocked before opening I have been spending 14hrs a
day for about a month. So I can't imaginge how I will have time in the day
when/if I start making regular sales.

Yes, and managing at this level is not picking/packaging/shipping orders, especially
if you've no minimum buy or lot number

And I don't want to annoy older sellers and undercuts prices.

Oh you won't.

You'll just probably realize your prices are too low when you've forgotten
insurance, accounting, paper, packaging, zip bags, the whole furniture, internet,
bank cost, payment fees, lost orders cost, rental maybe?

G'luck!

FWIW that part was very rare before its inclusion in

Set No: 40521 Name: Mini Disney The Haunted Mansion
*
40521-1 (Inv) Mini Disney The Haunted Mansion
675 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2022
Sets: Disney

so if a store hasn't changed its prices since that set was released, the
price will be high.

Yes, I noticed there was only one other set that part came in.
But because the Mansion has few parts and alot of that part, putting such a high
price ruins the current part out estimate.

It's just a shame some sellers have made the current price average irrelevent.

Some concepts to understand?

In order to collect, manage and restock more than say 5000 or 8000 (different!)
Lots in a shop... it requires someone working almost 24/7/365.

It's a service, it's a full salary (much more in fact) to be paid, which
cannot be earned in a Technic Pin -20% off Avg Price Guide price, even sold by
100.

Price of parts reflect the cost.
It's both parts cost and the (managing) service.
The more you've lots the more the ratio shifts to service, which tends to
be far far more expensive than the single cost of a common part.

Which is also why Bulkers have few lots (like 1000) but high quantity and often
the best prices.

Wow, your store has alot of parts!

Thanks for the advice.

To get my store organised/stocked before opening I have been spending 14hrs a
day for about a month. So I can't imaginge how I will have time in the day
when/if I start making regular sales.

I got the impression from shop owners on YouTube that managing a rufly 6000 lot
store takes about 5-6 hrs a day ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've been trying to get more lots than bulk, I wouldn't even know where
to get bulk parts cheep enough to resell at a profit anyway. (I'm only selling
new parts)

And I don't want to annoy older sellers and undercuts prices.

So I just have a few minifigs cheaper with added accessories to get people into
my store but 95% of my parts are the average.

And later you'll discover that some Shops in BrickLink are roughly 20 times
more expensive than the one you're talking about

To give you a hint: the most expensive (in my estimate) is in France (not us!)
and the second one is in Portugal.

Some may see whom I'm talking about

And apart this, they're great great people both, by the way!
They've no intention to break the Price Guide.

Of course, there are exceptions to every rule...

When trying to figure out why I noticed Brick Takeover has priced Aloy hfw001
at $1510aud, which makes the part out value way out of reality.

Brick Takeover also charges way too much for the Sand Green Plate, Round 1 x

Is this accepted/normal?

Regardless of what other sellers are doing, I would use caution in parting out
any set with high amounts of sand green (or other uncommon colors).

The prices are often quite distorted, and will quickly crash as more sellers
add inventory.

Oh, thanks for the tip

Take sand green studs for example. Only made in one set in 2002 with a quantity
of two. I think the average was $5. Then the new disney haunted house came out
and it had over 50 in it. Looking at the part out price showed a crazy price
of over $300, yet people were already starting to list the studs for under $0.10.

First of, why would you spend so much money on LEGO and secondly, the incorrect
data is your own fault.

on incorrect* data. Who the snip* prices a so so minifig at $1500aud, it just shows
no repect for everyone else on this site.

You can list anything at any price, that is totally up to you.
Maybe use the “sold” list instead of the asking price…

Good luck,

I was wondering whether it is allowed to pass on the bricklink fees on an order

I was under the impression that this is absolutely not allowed, but I can't

Does anyone know of this or where I can find it.

find ANY reference or mention of charging BrickLink fees to buyers.

It may have been in the seller terms of service at some point in time past, but
I did not find anything about it today.

So, the answer to your question is actually,

That there are NO written restrictions on BrickLink about charging BL seller
fees to buyers.

If you wish to charge BL seller fees to your customers, BL does not prohibit
this.

NOTE: I am not a lawyer. Nor a representative of BrickLink and its parent company
The LEGO Group.

____

I don't think it has ever been in the terms, probably as it is not enforceable
since sellers could just charge 3% extra for unspecified reasons if they want
to avoid saying it is for fees. Free market forces are more effective, buyers
being able to least favourite stores that charge extra percentage fees is possibly
more powerful. If large numbers of buyers avoid stores that do it, stores have
a reason not to do it.

I was wondering whether it is allowed to pass on the bricklink fees on an order
to your buyer?

I was under the impression that this is absolutely not allowed, but I can't
find it in the bricklink terms.

Does anyone know of this or where I can find it.

Greetings Dave

You cannot do it explicitly and define it as BrickLink fees.

You must build the fees into your inventory prices or as part of your shipping
charges to buyers.

____

I understand but can it be found somewhere in the bricklink terms that this is
not allowed

Factor all of your costs into your pricing, additional fees will drive away customers.

Don't sweat the nickels and dimes.

Speaking as a Lego buyer and a small business owner.

When trying to figure out why I noticed Brick Takeover has priced Aloy hfw001
at $1510aud, which makes the part out value way out of reality.

Brick Takeover also charges way too much for the Sand Green Plate, Round 1 x
1 ($48aud) in set (40521) also skewing the value massivley.

Is this accepted/normal?

This really should have been a private conversation instead of a forum post.
None of us should be commenting publicly about another sellers pricing (or in
this case pricing process).

FWIW that part was very rare before its inclusion in

Set No: 40521 Name: Mini Disney The Haunted Mansion
*
40521-1 (Inv) Mini Disney The Haunted Mansion
675 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2022
Sets: Disney

so if a store hasn't changed its prices since that set was released, the
price will be high.

I'm just angry* because I've already spent 2/3 of my life savings based
on incorrect* data. Who the snip* prices a so so minifig at $1500aud, it just shows
no repect for everyone else on this site.

The data is not incorrect. It is a perfect record of what other people have priced
their currently unsold items at. Using unsold prices without investigating them
is dangerous, especially if you are investing a lot of money into a decision
based on that data alone.

When trying to figure out if you want to part out a set, why don't you use
"Last 6 Months Sales Average" instead of "Current Items For Sale Average" in
"Default prices to"?

This should get you a more realistic price for the parts.

I will be doing that ....now.
It's just a shame some sellers have made the current price average irrelevent.

True, there are some shops where you think that their prices are defined for
selling the sets in about 30 years xD

Haha
That's fun to think our Lego would be worth 30x one day...

Sellers can set whatever prices they like. If you believe that they are breaking
any rules, you can report individual items.

You are asking for trouble if you are automatically basing your pricing on other
people's prices for items that have not sold. Prices for items that have
sold are more realistic although can be over-estimated for new parts/figures.
If you want to price based on current items for sale then it pays to check each
one, so is often only worthwhile for more expensive pieces. Especially for you,
you might find you should only be looking at other Aus seller's prices so
you can price for the domestic market rather than based on worldwide averages.

I replyed but it seems you can't say swear words lol.. not at you I just
said snip* would you put a price that high 30x the next higest price unless you
don't care about this site funtioning as intended.

*=Edited, again.

Ok, good to know I'm not the only one to notice.
Still it's ridiculus, If they don't want to sell it just make it the
highest price obviously.
It's just realy anoyed me because I have bassed a lot of my purchases on
the part out value and now I no it can be very very inacurate....

This is a good practice to have. Its a practice we go with and stick with it
even when orders get big. Too much restrictions veer off new customers.

There's no minimum buy or max buy. No minimum lot or max lot. No limits or
restrictions of any kind in my store. Buy as little or as much as you want.

I had an order (I refunded it and cancelled) since Bricklink allowed a minor
to register. Now I am out the PayPal fee, fortunately it wasn't a high priced
item.

I want to let it go, but the principle of it just irks me, PayPal also allowed
this minor to register and they get to profit from it.

Can someone please talk me down

Did you also report to PayPal, as they should block the account until an adult
confirms they have changed the password.

According to this young lady, it is her PayPal with permission/support from her
parents. I looked on their help site and it seems they can indeed have a PayPal
account with parental approval. Oh well, it is what it is.

I'm confused, did she not pay you or are you stuck on the principle?
