So I tried to print out a first class international label today. According to
my charts, pulled from the USPS website, the UK is in zone 5, and so a small
package should be $14.49 (commercial rate). Paypal had it as $15.44. So I cancelled
the label, and contacted Paypal to say their zone chart was wrong. They responded
that the rates are set by the USPS, not Paypal. So I tried to print out a label
through the USPS (a pain since I have to copy all the information for the buyer
address). Lo and behold, the rate they were charging me was the retail amount
for zone 9, or $16.25! So even though their chart says the UK is in zone 5,
why did it come out as zone 9??? No, I haven't contacted USPS, since I am
sure it will be a while until I get an answer from them. Just wondered if anyone
else came across this?

Lisa at Brick Dungeon

Yes, I noticed the UK switched zones (and to the $15.44 rate) earlier this year.
I found a chart somewhere that said they were now in Price Group 20 which looks
to be made up just for them.

Jen

Thanks, Jen! Good to know I am not crazy! (well, at least not in this instance)

As a seller, it doesn't matter to me if the numbers are in bold (showing
'paid' since I don't think it is paid until I check Paypal to make
sure it is in my account. (or received the check in the mail or whatever).
Like Scrooge, I don't ship until I have the 'cash in hand', so I
should be the only one to mark it paid. (or the Paypal link, that is fine too,
just not the buyer).

Lisa at Brick Dungeon

Regardless of weather this suggestion is accepted- there is a function that you
can use now in order to 'uncheck' and undo the buyer's action of
marking the payment as sent:
-Go here: https://www.bricklink.com/orderSettings.asp
-Check this box: Separate order payment status from order status
-Then go back to your current orders, the payment status will be separated from
from the status.
-Change the payment status from 'sent' to none
- voila, your order and payment status are reset and you can send an invoice
and the 'paid' box that the buyer checked falsely will be unchecked.

Big thanks to Brickwilbo who thought us this valuable feature which we use daily.

Taught lol

Thank you! I did not know of this feature either. Hey, I learned something today!

I'm pretty sure that's a bug.. buyers can't change the order status
to paid, only sellers or onsite payment can.

Why is there even the option for a buyer to mark the order paid?

So.. are you talking about the order status, or about the grand total showing
in bold because the buyer submitted the payment? You'd want to remove the
latter just because you don't need it? Well, I need it.. not everyone
works with PayPal. If buyers send me bank transfers, I need to see that so that
I can ship their order or verify the payment. It's a pretty important feature
to me.

Well, drats. I guess that isn't the solution either. But I have checked my
Paypal account, and there is NO payment from the buyer. And yet, since he marked
it paid, everything is grayed out and I cannot add a shipping amount or send
an invoice! Frustrating!! Okay, so a better solution may be that BrickLink does
NOT gray out the options!!

I would love to see tiles with stickers as a separate category from printed tiles.
I have seen this topic discussed on a few Lego Facebook Groups as well.

You can isolate parts with stickers from the search results by adding sticker*
to your search terms (to find only parts with stickers) or -sticker* (to filter
out parts with stickers)

You can also use goatleg.com as a shortcut

Yes, I use the above method as I am sure many others do as well. But the crazy
organizing gene in me thinks they should be in different categories. So I
vote for splitting out not only tiles that are stickered and printed, but ALL
decorated parts into stickered parts, and printed parts.

According to the catalog, this part comes in 5 sets in that color. All are Jack

USED! It doesn't matter if you never used this part to build the set, it

listing these types of parts?

Lisa

I have made this argument regarding boxes listed as new to no avail. I finally
gave up and listed most of my used boxes as new just like most sellers do.

Agreed. A box cannot be new if it has been opened! Now, if you have a sealed
box and you have magically transported the contents out of the box without opening
it, then I would make an exception and it can be listed as 'new'.

"Pet Peeve d'jour"

I'm sure you're not peeved daily, Lisa

We're talking about adopting a dog, as my son has out grown his allergy.
If we do, what do you think about naming our new pet, Peeve?

But seriously, it makes sense what you're proposing

Oh, my gosh. Get a lab! I had German Shepherds for over 30 years, and we finally
let my son, Daniel, have a choice. He wanted a lab, so we found someone with
lab puppies and he chose a yellow one and named him Archer. He has been with
us almost 4 years and he is the happiest dog I know! I take him to the dog park
almost daily (it is very close to the post office!) and I love to watch him play
with other dogs, or just to play with me: he loves tennis ball, frisbee, tug
toys, etc. A really good, friendly family dog! (and doesn't have the double
coat shedding that the German Shepherds have!)

No.

Upon reviewing instructions and building this set, it can be seen that the count of this part should be 7, rather than 6.

Indeed. Good catch.

The 7th one is kinda shy and is hiding out at the back left in step 5. This
change will align the set inventory to match that of its USA counterpart which
also includes seven 1 x 6 blue bricks.

Thanks!!

Funny thing, I had this set sitting here for a while. Long ago, I took inventory,
according to BrickLink, and noticed I had an extra brick. So I set it aside in
my 'old Pat Pend' brick pile. Then months later (today), I decided to
build it. Noticed I was short a brick, went to the pile and retrieved the brick!
Thankfully I hadn't sold it or lost it or something!

LOL!! I think it was meant that the CAPE looked like it was made by Lego, not
the hole.

Anyway, I don't know of any capes that would have that extra oval hole in

This causes a lot of issues, especially in the old 9V train stuff, since the
same sticker sheet was used across several sets too. I know it's been brought
up before, and they left things as they were

Drats. So what do you think of my solution for my listing problem: I list the
sticker under ALL of the catalog entries, but in my description, I state that
I only have ONE sticker, not 6 of them, and it can be used for any of the sets.

Take some images with your mobile device or a digital camera. If you show them

They'll be a lot faster to identify visually.

they do have a large plastic black clip inside. If there is any marking, it is
covered up by the clip and I can't see anything. Maybe these are some sort
of knock-off?

I also thought they were canister tops? But can't find anything there either.
Anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

Also: I have compared them to the actual masks that I have, and they are slightly
larger.

only mildly annoying, but now it seems to be in the lower right of EVERY screen

of every page, why do we need another one (that moves around no less)? Additionally,
I think I can manage manually scrolling to the top of my home screen without
the aid of a bow and arrow.

Is this a recent change or have I just not noticed it before? Do we have to
have these controls that hover and move around on the screen erratically? It's
especially frustrating on a small mobile screen--it's just clutter.

Can we drop them or at least have an option in our settings to turn them off?

BEWARE: RANT!!!

Once again, we have had a new feature FORCED upon us, with no way to turn it
off! I realize the development team is trying to be helpful with new, easy-to-use
features. *sarcasm* What good are all these trendy little add-ons? We need simplicity
for our new users, and even us older ones! BrickLink can add on all these new
useless things, and yet they can't implement a few roadblocks to curb the
new *sellers* (read: scammers), even after many, many suggestions on how to do
so?

As soon as you’ve messaged someone and they responded, or made a small order,
you have their e-mail address and everything you need to make any arrangements
you want.
Being in the same town isn’t necessary.

It is necessary if you are trying to save on shipping fees, especially for a
large, heavy order. We have filters right now in place that lets me filter out
other countries (since of course that is where shipping costs are a big concern!)
Why not be able to filter even further, and have it by city, or even by county,
and then a pickup order would be possible.

I wish this were an option as well. My guess is that it isn't an option is
due to potential fee avoidance. (just contact the seller and make arrangements

feature, where I can search on items near me, and it doesn't show what city
they live in, just how many miles distance from myself. So that covers the privacy
aspect when just doing searches. So if I buy something heavy, at least I know
the shipping is lower, and possibly could meet up with the seller to avoid shipping
cost.

I vote yes, with perhaps the limitations mentioned above?

Darren

Yes, the buyer can mark the payment as 'Sent: payment is on it's way.'
http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=121
Payment is 'Sent', not paid, until the seller marks the payment as 'Completed'.

What? I receive an onsite payment, and the order is marked paid automatically
by Bricklink. The only solution so far is to add an entire new column to my order
page, that is useless to me, and as far as I can tell, not seen by buyers anyway.
I'm only asking for an added order status of Payment Pending that blocks
order additions, so I can keep my orders page easy to use, and make it easy for
buyers to check the status of their order that was paid with an Echeck.

Darren

Darren's concern is real. It is an issue that should be addressed. More for
as Darren stated; for the buyer's ability see and understand clearly what
their order status is, as it concerns echecks and shipping wait-times.

Marc's also correct if you separate the the two, when the buyer pays via
onsite, it sets the payment status to "Received" I can then change the status,
as a seller to "Completed" if there's no echeck, or "Clearing" if you wish,
as I have it set-up now and using Chrome. However, as a buyer my view of the
order payment status is not as nuanced.

But I've also noticed different order status options using other browsers,
so I'm always a little uncertain of any given buyer's view of order status,
given the variables such as how they've set-up their page, which browser
they're using, etc.

As it is now, I simply ship the order (if under $100) in lieu of waiting on echeck
clearance, to avoid buyer issues. Because like I said: The buyer is often not
aware of their PayPal payment status. As it stands now, if the order value is
high enough to be out of the comfort zone, I'll send an message via the order
page, informing the buyer of the wait time and letting PP absorb some of the
buyers disappointment, as they should, IMO.

-Cory

The problem with this, is that Paypal will not release the address so that you
can easily print a label, before clearance. Have I sent before clearing? Absolutely,
when it is a known customer that I have shipped to previously. However, when
it is a new customer, I would rather wait until clearance just so everything
is documented, including the address from Paypal, so I am 'covered' by
their seller protection.

This particular case lifted a NPB, but the buyer has not paid. Now, if the e-check
bounces, I will have to start the NPB all over again.

Again, when people pay via an e-check, via paypal, using on-site payment, the
system automatically marks the order as paid.

Please fix this bug.

Thanks,

Brick It Yourself

If someone has no credit and no debit/credit card linked to their account only
a bank account, then there is basically a delay whilst paypal waits for the money
from the bank, they won't give you it until it clears so it can take a while.

I've only had it on one small order before and someone else said paypal onsite
was trying to send an e cheque until they noticed and stopped it.

I'm not sure if you can setup a paypal account to not accept e cheque at
all?

I don't mind accepting e-checks, nothing against this form of payment.

The problem is Bricklink saying an order is paid and removing a NPB when that
is not the case.

I agree with Ken. The order is not actually paid until the funds are in my account.
Also, Paypal does not provide you with the customer's address until the funds
are cleared. And if you print labels through Paypal, then you must wait. So perhaps
there needs to be another status in the drop down menu. Perhaps 'Payment
on hold' is too long....maybe "Escrow"?

Along with the other suggestion I made to Admin of this in the drop down: "Leave
Order Open". I get annoyed when it says I have orders pending on my "My BrickLink"
page, when the customer has asked me to leave the order open. I don't want
to set it to "Processing" so the only other option is to leave it at "Pending".
But that makes it look as if I have not acknowledged the customer or order at
all, and that isn't the case.

Admin: please add these two options to Order Status!

Thank you,

Lisa at Brick Dungeon

Just keep it 'Pending'.

Nope. To me, 'pending' means that I haven't looked at it yet. Then
I keep forgetting which orders I have that are pending are really ones that should
be "leave open". I guess I could always add a note to the order which would show
up on my order page so it sets it apart from the other pending orders.

Lisa

I use the grey color on my shipping settings to designate "leave orders open"
from regular pending orders. But I would prefer a separate status

-Ruth

That's a good way, too. However, both of our methods are unseen by the buyer
(aren't they?) and I really would like that option in the pull-down menu
instead, so the buyer knows I have acknowledged his/her wishes to leave it open.

Hello,
The item you are adding is already listed in this set. (The one with the Right
facing sticker.) The item with the Left facing sticker has yet to be added to
the catalog. Do you by chance have this item in hand and can upload an image
of it?

Thank you!
Jen

Hi Jen,

Yes! I do have it in hand and also have a photo of it. I tried to upload it,
but kept getting an error message. It may have been on my end, because I read
that it didn't need to be in the catalog yet in order to add the photo. But
since it wasn't in the catalog yet, I didn't know what I should call
this part. Should it be 87820pb05?

I was wondering if the Auction feature was simply turned off or commented out,
and if so would current administration be willing to re-enable it.

Auctions don't make a lot of money for the site, but it's often 'extra' money.
Auction lots tend to be items that can't be sold as regular lots or won't move
well like that. So an auction makes the seller money and the site too, and in
both cases more quickly than otherwise would have happened.

If the feature is re-enabled, consider that a test as to whether the feature
makes any sense for the new BL 2.0 site. Maybe we really don't need auctions-
but I think they are useful.

Thanks for your time.

Think it had more to do with the fight with eBay that then changed the site name
to BrickLink and got rid of auctions.

When I joined the site, there were auctions and it had been changed to brinklink
for many years..
I really remember it was for currency reasons

Could have been currency issues- yet that seems to be solved for the rest of
the site.
I don't know, that's why I posted the Suggestion.

Related- would y'all like to see auctions on the new 2.0 site? Or not?

My vote: YES! I think auctions are the perfect place for those one-of-a-kind
items, like misprints. Also, when there are other items that are rare or have
very little price history on BrickLink, an auction is a nice way to determine
what the market will bear.

Perhaps the seller, when listing the auction, would have a button to check to
be able to list in their choice of currency?

Apparently the need for a universal currency converter, (xe.com) was the reason
that auctions had to be disabled.

A lot of people really liked them, but it was incompatible with the need for
all currencies to be playing on the same field
