Hello, is this sticker in the catalog somewhere? I cannot seem to find it. It
was a Star Wars promo in 2010.

For those that don't know, Bret (starbeanie) is what I consider our resident
expert on Lego stickers. He long ago started specializing at it (don't know
if you still do, Bret) But I couldn't find this item either and thought about
asking you. Glad you showed-up here to answer both the OP's my curiosities.

I'm guessing heat? I've run into this 3 times now one the lots also had
heat warped baseplates. I've never seen it on my own/original lego which
has never experienced a hot garage.

Are they trash? Can I clean them?

I believe Lego uses Styrene-Butadiene Styrene (SBS rubber) for their tires. Pretty
much the same material used on your sneakers like vans or converse. The edging
around the bottom of the shoe, if you’ve ever had to clean them. Also used on
many of today’s automotive parts such as rubber molding, trim, etc.

Knowing this, you should be able to determine what products you could use to
clean and/or treat the tires, to stay stoked

Remembering the proclamations you made of placing me on your ignore list, if
you've actually done so, I guess this advise is for naught and I'm spinning
my wheels here

Maybe another can pass it on.

in light grey and was pretty stoked (only came in 3

want it to be a total loss. The weird color on a common part is so neat in person.

Thanks everyone

Has there ever been a spot for custom minis? Any way we could add
a spot? Mainly MOC out of existing parts that are out there. Not hand made or
painted parts. Thanks.

I’d support it. I’s been put forth and discussed from time to time, but never
implemented.

As long as all the parts are genuine Lego, I vote yea.

But then again, I have skin in the game: https://store.bricklink.com/popsicle&itemID=132920648

Sorry for the late response, Mark.

I do truly enjoy your comic creations, they're superb satire. You sir, have
a gift, no doubt!

For the life of me, though, I don't understand this comic strip?

I see clearly Russell with his hair-on-fire, but don't get the storyline
or understand whom the others are? To be completely honest, I feel kinda stupid,
if it's a given for others!

  Hello everyone,

I'm very pleased to announce that we have appointed longtime member BricksThatStick
to the Catalog Associate position. Paul served as the site's 4th Inventories
Admin during 2010 to 2011 alongside Emma (SimplyBricks). He effectively replaced
Dan Jezek, the site's founder, who had a special fondness for inventories
work and who of course left very big shoes to fill.

If you take the time to scroll through Paul's 900+ inventories changes:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvChangeItem.asp?chgUserID=44744&v=3

...you will notice a sea of green, followed by a sea of blue, followed by another
sea of green. This means he continued to contribute to the catalog after having
once been an admin, which is (unfortunately) something rather uncommon. But it
demonstrates a great and correct attitude, the kind of attitude we wish to model
for all of our other contributors out there, especially the ones still cutting
their teeth.

Paul has, over the years, been very active as a seller and many of you will know
him also from his activity in the Forum. We look forward to his practical insights
and we are confident he will play a vital role in our growing catalog team.

Please welcome him back!

Welcome back, Paul.

And thank you. If you need any consideration from our store please let me know.
It would make me happy to be able to pay-it-back, what you and the others contribute.

Sorry, but I must say that I take offense at this statement. You are passing
judgement on the previous admins and their reasons for leaving the site. You
are implying that the 'correct' attitude would be to maintain one's
dedication to a site even after you may have had a bad experience.
You don't know how they were treated by the management and members of this
site.

I think you make a valid point, I felt so when I first read Russell’s statement
yesterday. But if you’ll allow me just a moment of open mindedness to express
how I reasoned through that portion or Russell’s post…

Simply put, the 'attitude' Russell speaks of, and what you've taken
umbrage with, is for lack of a better term, site first. That is the idea
of BL, not any given people of it - at any given time. Yes, it’s a for-profit
venture, but it’s inception and all important developmental years, were steeped
in the idea of a site that is community for AFOL, according to what is now doctrine
but simply was what Daniel expressed.

I think Russell (understanding he’s partially responsible for the current direction
of BL) to use a metaphor, is attempting to correct course of the ship we all
have boarded

You were as dedicated a BL Inventories Admin as any, I thought. We never met,
but I think I remember you from the Seattle Round Table, sitting across from
my son and I. You’ve given a lot of yourself to the site and should be shown
appreciation, along with the several others that have given selflessly to better
our catalog, including the many non-admin contributors. Catalog is what makes
this site, IMHO.

All that being said, I understand Russell’s statement.

As to your statement "how they were treated by the management and members
of this site" you're no longer an admin, express yourself! I don't believe
unpaid positions are subject to the same enforceability of non-discloser agreements,
if any If you want people to understand the concern that you've taken
the time to post, you'll need to add more context.

Forum participants are less than a percent of the overall site membership, but
the percentage of those that read the forum is far greater.

Take your time, but tell your story, Jen. That is, if you haven't already
somewhere here in the forum.

A type of reverse want list. That is, a way that sellers could peruse the current
want lists to specific buyer's needs, to then as a seller, proactively engage
members like Wayne with offers on items they have on their want list.

Kinda like amping-up the want list and selling process, by getting the sellers
more involved in increasing their sales by actually selling

It's just a rough draft of an idea. Limitations, restriction and other refinements
of the idea, expected.

But hey, BL shot-callers, it speaks directly to upping the sales numbers!

I need some help identifying the color of the Bionicle mask on the right. It
is part #32573. It came in a large lot of used Bionicle parts, so I don't
know what set it came from originally. Supposedly, it only comes in Black, Blue,
Dark Gray, Light Gray, Lime, Medium Blue, Orange, Tan, Yellow, Copper, and Pearl
Light Gray.

As you can see, this is not any of those colors. I have photographed it with
a copper part next to it, so you can see that it is not copper. The closest
I can figure is that this is chrome pink, but there is nothing chrome about it.
It is more like a pearl dark pink color.

What color do you think it is?

I appreciate your help.

Stan.

The set in which this part appears (bilmasks-1) was released in 2001, while the
Exo-Force robots were first released in 2006. Colours (particularly Pearl-type)
tend to change somewhat over time, and the description for set (bilmasks-1) specifies
that the colour is dark Copper:

Set No: bilmasks Name: Special Masks! - 2 Bionicle Copper Kanohi (Legoland Billund)
*
bilmasks-1 (Inv) Special Masks! - 2 Bionicle Copper Kanohi (Legoland Billund)
2 Parts, 2001
Sets: LEGO Brand: LEGOLAND Parks

I think I've expressed this before, but it's worth repeating: Impressive
catalog command!

Although I’m usually clueless to the subtleties here in the forum, I don’t get
the “Inviting trouble” title. I can’t see how. I assume it’s referencing your
second comment of not having an issue if someone “takes the initiative”, as in
inviting competition for you and goatleg.com?

Regardless, it’s good to hear from you again, Mark.

What a beautiful story, Cory. Sounds like you gave that badger biter the time
of his life.

Before moving, I'd visit a humane society that served as a hub for all shelters
in the valley. I loved the high-energy kennel with the biggest dogs you're
allowed to walk, but also walk the smaller dogs for a quick bowel movement in
parking lot bushes, a block or two. This fat roly-poly kinda thing caught my
eye one day, and we'd walk a little longer every time I stopped by. I guess
he was too fat, because one of the vet-techs told me he'd been put down not
transferred. What a crap day. Sometimes think about whether I would've been
allowed to start a 10 day-hold and other what-ifs. At the end of the day it's
easier just to shrug and say "damn you, world!"

To lighten the mood, here's a few satellite photos of a wild tribe of wolves
-source unknown

I'm tired. Going to bed, see what dreams await me.

Thanks, Caleb. You're a good man.

At the time we were asked to take care of him, we were living in Southern Utah
in and around Zion National Park. Our lives during those years were, to say the
least, adventurous. We were trekking, hiking and climbing just about every area
we could reach. Our friends knew this, when they asked us to care of Oscar. I
told them I would think on it. I worried a dog would just not fit our adventurous
life style at the time. Certainly, such a small dog could not hang with us on
our back country treks, I thought.

But, we really wanted to help Jim and Gloria out, and didn’t want to see Oscar
spend a year in doggy prison (hotel) so we agreed to take the responsibility.

Well, it turned out that Oscar with his stubby legs, was one hell of a adventurer!
He hung with us EVERYWHERE. When it came to climbing, his shape fit perfectly
into my climbing-pack with just his head sticking out, and he didn’t seem to
mind just enjoying the view while I struggled

He was overweight when they left him with us, and by the time they returned they
had half the dachshund they had left us with. Oscar really got into shape that
year! He simply loved the outdoors life!

Now here’s the sad part. When Jim and Gloria returned, we left to spend a year
in Stockholm. They told us that Oscar would go everyday to the front door of
our cottage and sit, waiting for us to open the door for him. I guess it’s true,
dogs don’t have the same concept of time, because we were told he did this throughout
the entire year my kids and I were gone.

It remains one of the saddest thoughts in my long life thinking about this. Even
as I type it, tears flow. Silly!

This is not a pic we took. It is the last pic of our friend, Jim and Gloria took
that they sent to us a couple of years later, just before he passed away...

Captain Q approves.

Here are two kittens I am keeping of a 4 kitten litter I saved from living a
life as feral cats; named Tenshi and Quark. I found them while feeding some
feral cats. They were too young to capture right away, around 5 weeks, so I
pre-socialized them on the outside with wet food and playing with a cat favorite
toy, the fake bird on a string and stick. Had to do it at night as apartment
management disapproves of feeding the feral cats. Took some night vision video,
that I have not gotten around to editing yet.

Just noticed that the picture is rotated the wrong way, will leave it as is,
because it amuses me.

Regards,
Captain Q

Looks like they've got a good life, now.

How you brought them into your life. I gotta say you're a very patient man,
Quinton

Very cool names, too!

She's lovely!

I think Stray is as good a name as any other. It's a reminder of where she
came from, and your role in taking care of her

Thanks, Stu

I would really like to see more pics of our member’s pet. What do you think about
showing or introduce your animal companion to the BL membership here on the forum?

I suggest a new forum subtopic, under Off Topic: Pets

Anecdotes and/or pics of your pets? Maybe of interrupting your lego work or other
mischief. Or just an introduction of your nonhuman companion, new or old. What
your pet did today

Even though we don't have furry companions (son's allergies) we really
enjoy animal pics and stories. Think most do, evidenced by it's popularity
on youtube.

What do think? Think there is enough interest to warrant a sub-topic in the forum?

I think it's a great idea! I love my fur family, which has grown into 6
dogs and 1 cat, all rescues from terrible conditions. The only place off limits
is the Lego room, otherwise they rule the roost.

Awesome! Much respect Darcy, for taking-in and caring for so many rescue animals.
Placed your store on our favorites list, I like to support people such as yourself.

I've gotta know, though How does the lone cat fare among the 6 dogs?

BTW, I really like your store's Splash page, beautiful!

-Cory

Thank you Cory! LOL, as for Kita Kitty, if anyone ever told him he wasn't
a dog, he'd probably be devastated. He's been with dogs since he was
a few hours old, vet said he'd never survive and the kindness thing would
be to euthanize him, yeah, wasn't happening. While we humans did the feeding,
dogs took care of the messy part. Now he's a healthy adult and a full blown
member of the pack. Uses the doggy door to potty, no kitty litter here ewww,
and doesn't leave the fenced yard. Fears no one, except my 4 lb, Chi, but
everybody fears him, so no surprise there

A beautiful cat. Great job saving his life. Never give up on saving a life.
I got a kitten at one day old and saved her.
John P

Is that her in your profile pic? Looks like she feels very safe & content, thank
you for saving her. Wish more people would realize their lives have value and
learn to be more responsible.

Animal rescue has become very important to me, especially with the shelters being
overwhelmed and the number of healthy animals being euthanized every day. Not
to mention abuse cases/dumping happening in record numbers. Personally, I know
I can't afford to take on anymore and still give them the proper care they
need and deserve. So myself, and a bunch of others in the same situation donate
each month to pay the fees for at risk animals in a local kill shelter. Once
the fees are covered they become eligible for free adoptions or to be pulled
by a rescue. Not ideal by any means, but we're able to save some. Just
a thought to anyone who might read this, there are ways to help, you can advocate
to raise awareness, donate to your local shelter, foster, if you see something
say something, adopt don't shop and above all else spay/neuter. Now that
I sound like an infomercial I'll stop talking.

Darcy

All good points, Darcy.

John & his wife, have been committed to helping the homeless cat population in
his area for some time now. He is what I would call a warrior of that cause.
For cats anyway.

Okay, I think I understand you both. You're referring to when you land on

In which case, a very good and useful suggestion! Voted yes

Kinda like amping-up the want list and selling process, by getting the sellers

But hey, BL shot-callers, it speaks directly to upping the sales numbers!

I assume you meant tinted or colored (not tainted) material. If so, astute. Good
point.

these are the trans light blue ones which makes the minifig the sh517a version.
Please have a look at the photos along side 1X2 trans light blue plates to see

My camera is not great at close ups so hopes these are discernible.

Thank you! That's exactly the thing i wanted to say.

A little more complicated, but without the intense spamming:

BL builds in a kind of public tender system.
Buyers can then issue a tender by adding their WL (or parts of it) and defining
how long the sellers can participate (5 days, 30 days...) and who can participate
(worldwide or just particular countries, only sellers with minimum 99% praise
and so on).

Then the sellers have the possibility to add items to their offer (from their
inventory and/or by adding it "manually") and to adjust the price if they want
to. Until the offer is accepted/rejected by the buyer or cancelled, all items
in the offer are "locked".

Good input. Great thoughts!

(sorry for the bad English)

Your English is very good, Phillip. Impressive, in fact.

Cory,

I have read through this thread and it appears that there is lack of transparency
for sellers on what parts buyers need, what parts sell well and so forth. Personally,
I have a lot of wanted lists that I have no intention on fulfilling. Many of
them are remnants of what I was interested in at a given moment and I personally
just have not gone to delete them for various reasons, mainly being a low priority.
This problem alone would create a lot of dead end work for the seller trying
to fulfill a wanted list that the buyer has no intention in fulfilling. There
are many other practical reasons for wanted lists that buyers use them for, to
serve as a reminder of parts to look for in stores when they need to pad their
cart to meet minimum, but not necessarily an critical item they need to buy.
Those could be just nice to have parts if an opportunity arrises, so as not to
pay additional shipping just for those part(s).

Having been a seller, I understand the frustration of what to stock up on, and
I know the main advice is quantity, variety, highly desirables and high turn
overs. The problem is that Bricklink attracts people from all sorts of corners
of the world with wide range of needs.

The other problem with Wanted lists and stores is that even though the Wanted
List search function looks for stores with say most unique lots or a combination
search, the buyer is still tasked with trying to find a combination of stores
with best value (cost of parts vs cost of shipping). BL used to find stores with
cheapest cost, but I believe that was removed soon after it was implemented,
as in a long term it was causing price erosion for sellers, which is a valid
concern.

All in all, it's a balancing act of sellers and buyers doing their part,
with the sellers obviously carrying the financial burden of cost of inventory,
time and labor. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into it. I have carried
the burden for about 2-3 years, and I got burned out.

I think seller's tools would be very welcome for sellers in understanding
what parts sell well in their store and what parts are up rising/falling in demand.
Obviously with such tools, it would create more fierce completion amongst sellers
to provide best selling inventor, which in turn would change the behavior of
buyers and ultimately the demand of parts. Essentially what Youtube is currently
doing by changing their algorithm, which is changing what people watch and changing
the game ever so frequently.

I no longer have much at stake in selling, but as an infrequent buyer, I still
use this site and change is needed to keep up with expectations of both buyers
and sellers.

Good read, Miro. Astute.

Thanks for your well-thought-out input.

Kinda miss your voice around here. Your posts are infrequent nowadays, or maybe
I'm just not looking in the right places

Let's leave it at that. Speaking as a buyer, I am all for hanging up a WL
for a month to see higher quantity listings.

"The mark of an educated mind [is] to be able to entertain a thought without

Can't go wrong in quoting Aristotle.

In fact I think the phrase should be adopted as a motto of the forum, to be hung
across the top of the page. It would be a beacon of idea, for forum users. Sadly,
I don't think many of the "regulars" would embrace it as their credo. For
too many of us, the guiding beacon is 'being right' or more succinctly,
'not to be perceived as being wrong'

I will say after reading your posts for some time, you don't seem to suffer
the same frailty of character. I think I posted some time back "who is this masked

Trolls are misunderstood creatures. It’s just not acceptable to use their identity

Sorry, just an attempt at humor

As to the name calling “troll” I don’t mind that you do so, Crystal. Nor did
I mind when Sylvain replied to my posted suggestion, by opening-up with the signature

In my opening statement

Sylvain’s opening statement in reply:

You may have noticed (that is if you haven’t overly used the ignore feature)
that all the others that posted their honest thoughts and critics, received only
honest, positive replies, or no reply from me. I try to be positive and build

I don’t mind the banter, and I still enjoy reading your inputs. I am sorry you’ve

To those that have no problem using the ignore feature, I would encourage it

Yet another good point.

What is a brain-fart that is not bonafide?

I guess school is back in session for popsicle. Not a great time to be sober

gallic friend, as a non seller and not much of a buyer (it
would appear from your history here) I really don't know if I'll take
your advise on this particular question, as earnestly as I would some
others here. You've got no skin in the game, as they say.

You’re talking about sellers reaching to buyers. I’d have thought buyers’ opinions
would be of interest to you.
But maybe it’s a cultural thing. After all, EU is opt-in while the USA are opt-out.
Recipients like to be in the loop here, not treated like kettle/cattle….

Besides, if you only consider sellers or very frequent buyers then I don’t understand
why you linked the message of a zero feedback buyer as a motive for your idea.
Or is there a “too much but not enough” range of buyers you’re excluding?

But I am glad you came out to play with me again

Make up your mind: you just said you don’t want me and my kind on the field

"you and your kind?" Feeling persecuted, are you? No, my dove. To me you are
one-of-a-kind.

Once again, make up your mind.

You said you didn’t want to consider my opininon because I’m a non seller, neither
0- nor “enough”- (whatever that would be) FB buyer. I thought that applied to
all non sellers, neither 0- nor “enough”- (whatever that would be) FB buyers,
or even all buyers-only.
Doesn’t that fall under the phrase “me and my kind”?

Sorry my pet, I don't know what you're babbling about here in your sleep
deprived state

Here is what I actually said "I really don't know if I'll take your advise
on this particular question, as earnestly as I would some others here. You've
got no skin in the game, as they say."

And now you’re saying I’m alone. So it’s only my opinion you don’t want to consider?

Alone As stated clearly, it's opinion from those that actually "have skin
in the game" (something to lose or gain) and experience that I'll take more
earnestly than your opinion, in this matter. If by alone you mean the only one
that fits the aforementioned description to reply to the post, then yes, I guess
you are alone, for now anyway

So, either you don’t want me-and-my-kind’s opinion or you don’t want my opinion.
That’s not my feeling persecuted, that’s your dismissing my opinion.

It’s your right not wanting to care about someone’s opinion but, besides being
inconsistent with first having asked everyone’s opinions, you can’t both say
you don’t care about someone’s opinion and then deny you said it.

And, by the way, stop giving me names. I’m not your pigeon or any other pet.
That’s condescending.

So it's over between us then

But why all the hostility, are we not best of friends

Seems to me your best friend is liquid and bubbly.

If you're referring to booze, unfortunately no longer considered a friend
of mine. Stopped even my occasional beer consumption. Nope, this is sober clear-eyed
popsicle speaking. I actually think I'd enjoy your witless repartee better,
if I were a few beers into what is a boring convo.

You used to be fun, my fine forest creature. What happened?

It's the middle of the night for you in France. Try not to dwell on thoughts
of me, and what I think. Get some sleep...

Don’t mind my sleep, I sleep like a baby: I wake up every other hour and I cry.

Or maybe this one: I sleep very well, some nights I even sleep more than once!

No, no, you tempter

You have me to a tee

I won’t ask if it felt alone in there!

I don't see how? There are plenty of personalities up there to keep any visitor,
company

A type of reverse want list. That is, a way that sellers could peruse the current
want lists to specific buyer's needs, to then as a seller, proactively engage
members like Wayne with offers on items they have on their want list.

Hmm, let’s see if I understand correctly.

Now, the buyer can search the stores that have the most items for their WLs.
They need to actualize their search from time to time to see if new sellers /
better matches appear.

And you’d want that search to be automatized so that the buyer receive a notification
for their whole WL?

If that’s it, when will that notification be sent? When the WL is X% fulfill(able)?
— If X is too high, many WLs will never have such a notification.
— If X is too low, that could make for a lot of notifications.

Or do you just want the search to be reversed, that a seller actively search
for WLs they can fulfill with their inventory?

Here again, percentage of fulfillment could be what makes it useful or spamful.

Anyway, I’m not sure it’s very different from the already existing WL notification
system except it would be for several parts at once, not one by one.
I rarely use that, indeed because that would cause too many notifications for
common parts and it doesn’t tell me if the seller has other parts, so adding
that multiple parts feature could be interesting. Though I’m not sure I would
opt in: it’s as easy to make a search from time to time.

A related question: Can’t sellers easily see on how many WLs their parts are
so that they can decide when to send notifications?
I mean, do you have to browse all your inventory part by part to have this info?

It's sounds like you've been working on it, keep it up!

But, my beautiful gallic friend, as a non seller and not much of a buyer (it

As long as I could opt out of it, I would be all for it. I don't need sellers
spamming me with offers of things on my want list.

Of course, always the ability to opt-out, I agree.

Very good input, Randy

I think it would rather be on an opt in basis, because doing it by default would
be privacy violation.

Agreed.

Reminds me of the trouble Amazon is in over looking into its sellers sales data.
Frickin Bezos!
Anyway, not a bad idea, when it's based on buyers explicitly choosing to publish their wanted list.

Again, agreed, Great idea.

Anyway, seller tools was cancelled, so there's not much chance for this
or any other smart suggestion over the past years to see the light of day. Better
to try it over at BO, they certainly like to discuss such ideas and look into
options of implementation.

Well....I don't know BO, but I do know Law. Let's just say, you should
take it up with him, he'll hear it coming from you more than from me

absence of such a category.

It’s as Michael (Hurt) posted, with missing print. I don’t think it’s “worn off”

I've noticed their ink often doesn't take to their bendy heads. 9 years
of bustling between bricks and it's gone completely. If you look at the listings,
you'll see it's a common issue.

Whoa! That house elf appears to have suffered a stroke.

3. light orange B (medium yellowish orange)
4. bright light orange
5. medium orange
6. orange
7. dark orange

I'm surprised others haven't answered your question, we've got some
very smart and catalog savvy members here in the forum. So I'll chime-in
with my piteously limited catalog knowledge

There are more "orange" colors including trans-colors, displayed in the two screenshots
below. But if you're asking about available orange colors for the part shown,
I don't know without spending time in the catalog researching it. Of the
top of my head and IMO, Medium Dark Flesh falls within the orange spectrum, and
is available in part displayed.

We watched that movie soooo many times that we became really good at memorizing

I can see a contemporary Thomas Aquinas type applying that statement to movies,

We're talking about adopting a dog, as my son has out grown his allergy.
If we do, what do you think about naming our new pet, Peeve?

But seriously, it makes sense what you're proposing

Oh, my gosh. Get a lab! I had German Shepherds for over 30 years, and we finally
let my son, Daniel, have a choice. He wanted a lab, so we found someone with
lab puppies and he chose a yellow one and named him Archer. He has been with
us almost 4 years and he is the happiest dog I know! I take him to the dog park
almost daily (it is very close to the post office!) and I love to watch him play
with other dogs, or just to play with me: he loves tennis ball, frisbee, tug
toys, etc. A really good, friendly family dog! (and doesn't have the double
coat shedding that the German Shepherds have!)

Dogs ARE the best, especially labs

My son, daughter & I like all dogs! But we did grow to LOVE a certain Dachshund
that was in our care while the owners were out of country. Hung with us on all
of our back country hikes in Utah, if you can believe that. So, any dog that
needs a home, but if we stumble upon a Dachshund, well you know...

I think this is a great suggestion, Mike. Dynamic and pragmatic, with little
to no downside as proposed.

Reoccurring ideas such as this, come to mind when I receive orders with shipping

I assume, given initiator of the site-suggestion has a IT background, it must
be doable?

I would add that eBay has had something like this in place, for some time now.
I've taken advantage of it a few times.

Here is an example, my numbers are random and not the persons actual feedback.
I even put the feedback that is less than 100% in red as a warning.

Which by the way, I don't understand the point of the colored brick, yes
I understand it relates to the amount of feedback but I can see that one persons
feedback is large and one is smaller.

The idea of quickly knowing the seller's feedback while shopping the part,
may have some merit, I'm undecided on that. But anything less than 100% in
the warning color of red, I don't feel is right. I know so many fantastic
BL sellers with less than 100% that I've spent large sums of money with over
the years, it just wouldn't be fair to them. In fact, I'm of the crowd
(very small crowd ) that feel that too much emphasis is put on a member's
feedback rating.

But keep the ideas coming. There's always way to better the site.

It is in progress according to the roadmap:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2453

There was a fan made app for iOS which was advertised not long ago in the forum.

Correct, it's a Bricklink store managing app that was announced and
apparently who's latest update has been approved by Apple. Windy's husband
(iOS dev) developed the product......

But, Speg might be asking for a site offered app, serving android as well.

As the others have stated, it's in-place already.

It's the "more options" link just below the "Search" tab on the right-side

However, if you go to your "Search Settings" page you can check the box shown

by UPS...stickered the tracking labels directly to parts of the box...and then
the box was torn and a lot of smaller parts lost.

As a collector of MIB or MISB sets you can believe I was upset...

Happened on Fleabay though...not here thankfully.

Now, that's hard to hear, Larry. What a shame that fate, for what I think

Parts: Panel

from a 5000+ feedback seller. All 24 of them were thrown into a Ziploc baggie
and that baggie was crammed, along with the other lots in the order, into a flimsy
bubble mailer. Well, you can imagine what the surfaces of those panels looked
like after be squished and tossed from conveyor belt to conveyor belt as they
made their way across the country before being shoved into my mailbox. If they
had been shipped in a cardboard box they wouldn't have received nearly that
amount of abuse.

Therefore I suggest we force all sellers to ship orders in cardboard boxes.
Some orders, such as one or two figs, would probably be fine in a bubble mailer,
but rules are rules and we must enforce them uniformly and without mercy. We
must protect the entire community from the few sloppy sellers that are out there.

If a buyer receives an order that is not in a cardboard box, he must send a picture
of the package (with mailing label visible) to Admin. Once Admin approves the
picture, the seller will receive a non-negotiable negative feedback. If three
such feedback are received then selling privileges are revoked.

I ship 99% of my orders in a box already, so I don't see why this would be
such a big deal.

(yes, I'm making a point but I'm not making up my experience or my store
practices)

Then you might have sellers shipping in the original box with no outer box when
a set is bought. And the shipping label directly taped to the box.

Automatically will have the Quote option enabled.

What is the harm in that?

I voted No. On the surface, I don't really care if sellers enable the Quote
function, but I don't want to see it become a mandatory part of my shopping
experience. I have zero interest in Instant Checkout. If someone doesn't
have one key element that is the only reason I placed the order, I'd rather
be able to just cancel out of it without having my money even get involved, much
less having to wait for refunds to clear (something which can take a few weeks
if PayPal flags the refund for investigation like I've had happen a few times
in the past), where IC forces you to pay up front and hope your seller has their
inventory locked down.

For Quote, my main concern would be that if everyone is forced to have it turned
on, and sellers start getting thoroughly sick of having quotes auto-cancel because
elements end up being short due to other orders coming through during the turnaround,
we might see stores restricting sales to quoted orders, preventing me from being
able to just place my order and be done with it.

I'm looking at the amounts you're talking about, and in the one example
all I can see is maybe a $2 difference. I'm not big on just throwing away
money, but I've run into stores where simply placing the order could cost
$20-50 more for very basic parts. $2 extra in shipping costs seems like a bargain
at that point. I've placed orders where the cost of the parts was less than
1% of the invoiced total, not because the seller decided to rake me over the
coals on shipping, but because the order was for maybe $0.25 in parts. Generally,
that would be a very cost-prohibitive way to order parts, but sometimes I find
that there's literally only one store without a massive minimum buy that
has something I need for a MOC, and they have absolutely nothing else I want
to buy from them. So, I can either suck it up and pay shipping on maybe one
or two pieces, I can scrap my plans and see if I can come up with a new design,
or I can play the long game and hope someone else lists that part under more
favorable conditions...and probably cut my output down to nothing in the process.

I should of made it clearer but everybody seems to be missing that fact I'm
only saying it quote should be 'offered'

Buyers do not have to use it.

If you don't care about all the fees, or which shipping charge you will get,
and you want to guarantee the parts are yours, fine you can check out as normal.

I'm just saying Quote should be enabled if your fees and postage are not
calculated (by instant checkout) before being legally obliged to pay

I agree with the suggestion but note you are not "legally obliged" to pay for
an order online if you change your mind and no longer want it. The only problem
here is those sellers that try to enforce you to pay for all those add-on fees,
won't let you cancel and give you an NPB saying an order is legally binding
and their fees were stated (or hidden) in their terms somewhere. Although those
sellers are the minority that is why your suggestion gets my support.

Robert

So you are actually OK with allowing a few bad sellers to dictate terms to the
rest of us? Why is that it OK with you? I find it unacceptable. This is just
totally backwards! Why can't anyone think of a way to penalize the FEW bad
sellers instead of the MANY good sellers?

Where does it end? Will you be as supportive of this attitude when you are forced
to ship every order with insurance or tracking because of a few untrustworthy
buyers? I don't particularly like receiving large orders in bubble mailers
because the mailers are prone to damage and the pieces get scratched; I think
every order should be shipped in a box. In fact, I think we should FORCE every
seller to ship orders in boxes because that's what I do for 99% of my orders
already--no skin off my back! That's not a big deal, right?

We just HAVE to get away from this one-size-fits-all make-everyone-conform mindset.
This attitude is why most all of our governments are bloated and ineffectual.
I will again put forth the idea of a probabtionary period for new sellers and
problem sellers (an idea that actually addresses the root cause!) Once you've
shown you are a good actor, restrictions are lifted. As for the rest of us,
please just leave us in peace and let us run our stores as we see fit!

Again, well put. +1

Fully supported. I have had the Quote function enabled since it was first introduced,
and have no intention of ever screwing myself and my customers over by implementing
that goat rodeo called Instant Checkout. Sellers should be obliged to offer the
Quote Function if they opt not to use Instant Checkout. The latter must not be
made mandatory though. If it does, I and a large number of other sellers will
leave.

That said, the Quote function must be improved. Instead of an obfuscated tab
at the very end of the checkout process, it should be the fork in the road right
at the start.

Nothing should be mandatory as far as this goes. You have over 11,000 unique
sellers on this site and they will all have an opinion of whether they want to
offer quotes or instant checkout - leave it that way and you may end up filtering
out the 'damaged goods sellers' that seem to happen - this is really
odd, I must say all this talk about sellers not responding etc.

I am convinced there is a lot of exaggeration in the forum as people struggle
to make their points. ONE person has to file two NPBs in a month and suddenly
it's, "WE need to do something about ALL of these deadbeat buyers!!!" ONE
person comes across a couple of shops with shady terms and then, "OMG ALL the
sellers on BrickLink are trying to rip me off!!!"

I have no doubt people experience frustration with a small group of buyers or
sellers and rarely someone may have a string of bad luck, but those are all anecdotes
and not indicative of the general atmosphere on the site.

Wow....this is the best, succinct wording of what is seldom spoken of but is
a fundamental truth about the BL forum. It frankly worried me when back during
the takeover, the new owner's admins who were new to the site, jumped in
and were taking much of the hyperbole on the forum as being indicative of the
overall site's issues and concerns. I believe I even posted my concerns about
it, when it was taking place. I also believe the admins understand now, that
the forum's anecdotes are not always the best place to evaluate or discover
site problems.

I understood why the new admins were going to the forum, not really knowing where
else to turn, to better understand the site, it was expedient. I worried, as
I've seen the effects of taking exaggerated cases as the norm, in-the-real-world.
It NEVER leads to solving problems (often imagined) but does create a whole new
batch of actual problems.

-Cory

  We have been
buying for a very long time on this site and have never had a seller not respond
to any query we had pre, during or post sale. Most of them are happy to get their
orders in and process them and certainly do not want to turn away business. Maybe
people should name and shame them .

I believe you should know the cost upfront of your cart, fees and shipping before

I recently placed an order and again the fees and extra are so buried within
the terms the parts cost become 34% more! also I was invoiced for the larger
box option, and I know if using the instant checkout the parts would have easily
fit into the smaller letter rate. I read the terms 3 times and still some fees
were still easily missed.

This happens over and over again, its not a one off.

I think it should be mandatory by Bricklink that any seller not using Instant
checkout will

Automatically will have the Quote option enabled.

What is the harm in that?

Every customer can make a decision up front if the fees and postage are reasonable
and acceptable. When im invoiced a total random bunch of fees I am not entered
into the contact agreement before knowing them.

Why didn't you set the order status to packed after you set the payment status

I didn't know the "clearing" status had been born. But presumably they didn't

I still don't have "clearing" status. I would like to have it though.

Some valid points.

Would you allow me to "suggest" something?

Add a "suggestion" for the solution, in your post that's in the "suggestion"

Active vs, Inactive, is merely showing who has been on BL within the last year.

Scroll through the 36,000+ pages of registered members, you will see, especially
in the (0) and (1) feedback members, that signed up in 2003, 2004, 2005, and
so on, that have done nothing. Do you really consider these as "active" members?
I don't. I would call them in the "once and done" list.

Again, being inactive does nothing to the account, merely they would not be counted
in the recently active group.

Dave

It's interesting stuff, Dave.

Jennifer's post got me thinking. I don't see much value in knowing how
many have visited the site or even signed-up over a given timeframe. But I do
see some value in knowing member/site activity vis-a-vis the transactional activity,
either buying or selling transaction rate, it doesn't matter as one indicates
the other, exampled by Jennifer's transaction. But even more valuable information
is the $ amount transacted per diem or month or even year. Now, that would be
valuable info. and strong enough to make me rethink investing in the site, or
not

Another fantastic idea from StormChaser.

However, I think yorbrick has a point, in that newly signed-up members are often
those that are of need of help. We all know how it is when we’re new to something;
if it’s too troublesome many of us simply give-up on the idea and move on.

I don’t know what the current sign-up rate is, but I believe I read from another
post, it’s fairly high. Which would overly burden the volunteer moderators.
If it were me, I’d feel the need to offer compensation to said moderators, if
I were to ask them to take on the added role.

Maybe an amendment to your idea? Restrict new member's (however "new" can
be determined) posts to the “Help” topic only. At least until a level of activity
is reached by said member. This would restrict spam post somewhat, or at least
keep them confined.

Ryanme, also has a valid point regarding this issue. Why not let the mods use
a demarcation “Deleted” when dealing with such posts?

This means that if buyers aren't aware that this option exists, they have
to guess the weight, ask the seller continuously as they add batches, or request

Why force this upon ourselves when the website can automatically do it for us?

I suggest we allow sellers to show cart weights to their buyers, even if the

force buyers to see their cart weight in my store?

This means that if buyers aren't aware that this option exists, they have
to guess the weight, ask the seller continuously as they add batches, or request
a bunch of quotes.

Why force this upon ourselves when the website can automatically do it for us?

I suggest we allow sellers to show cart weights to their buyers, even if the
buyers haven't enabled that option.

Three more member votes, two of which are forum regulars that took the time
to vote in the affirmative for your suggestion, without putting their names to
it here in the forum.

In any case there are a few more that have yet to reply. I did what I could.
I can't spend anymore time at it, though.

Good Luck

I earnestly feel the new banner across the top of BL stores displaying the feedback
breakdown, should be altered.

As it stands now, a neutral will bring the percentile down. This, I believe is
misleading to potential buyers and somewhat unfair in nature. Many neutral marks
are received for perfectly satisfied transactions, as witnessed in the feedback
itself. This I think, is due to a general misunderstanding of the BL feedback
system. It is unlike many other site's feedback process.

I feel any neutral mark given, should be just that, carry no effect. Just
as it does with the numbers.

My motivations in bringing this up are unbiased, as reflected in our own banner.
I sincerely hope the Admins take this suggestion into consideration.
