In this suggestion I'm suggesting a simple link at each set's page (probably
the better function would be a button). Clicking on it would provide the same
function as navigating through Market Price Guide entering the set's
number, then clicking "Get Value". It doesn't need to be information saved
on the page, but if I'm looking at a set on BL and wondering what its part
out value is, I should be able to find out quicker than taking the above steps.

I'm not an expert but I think this would be too heavy for the website. Even
asking 1 part out value the system needs to process all priceguide data of all
parts in that set. If a totally random user would be browsing through 10 sets,
that whole process has to happen 10 times. It's only useful for sellers and
only at those moments that they want to purchase something, so I think it would
be an overkill of constant processing on the server for a small advantage.

I think each fig should, at the very least, include in its title the exact phrasing
that is given it on the LEGO S@H website (English), where possible. I'm
not sure if that's done now as a standard now on BL, but S@H is a good place
to start for standardization. Added details, such as cowl types, torso descriptions,
printing distinctions, etc. are fine.

Random example:

Set No: 60200 Name: Capital City
*
60200-1 (Inv) Capital City
1158 Parts, 13 Minifigures, 2018
Sets: Town: City: Building

On the website you can see the following in the set description:
Includes 13 LEGO® minifigures: a hotel bellhop, hotel customer, bus driver, ice
cream attendant, skateboarder, street musician, city traffic cop, 2 construction
workers, tourist, IT businessperson, kiosk attendant and a museum caveman.

The minifigure listings on BL should include those words in their respective
titles. This way, if someone is looking for the bus driver, they can type "Bus
driver" and it will show up. If the word order gets complicated (..."Driver,
Bus"...), it may not show up in an otherwise no-brainer search.

I would only want to see set numbers in the title of a minifig if the minifig
appears in one unique set only. Once it is released in a second set, I'd
like the set number removed from the title.

In catalog, StormChaser writes:
First, let me thank you all for your assistance with these projects. Thanks
to your hard work and discussion we have completed four projects within the last
month and three are ongoing:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2473

The seventh project consists of moving every 47th item in the Set item type to
the Gear item type. This is necessary because the Set item type just seems larger
than the Gear item type. When these items are moved, perhaps we can also give
them funny titles.

On a more serious note, this project actually consists of standardizing
whether set numbers appear in minifigure titles. Here are some examples of different
ways set numbers are included or not included in minifigure titles:

Minifig No: twn215 Name: Balloon Vendor
*
twn215 (Inv) Balloon Vendor
Minifigures: Town

Minifig No: env002 Name: Coast Guard Captain - White Hat, Torso Sticker with 4 Buttons and Badge
*
env002 (Inv) Coast Guard Captain - White Hat, Torso Sticker with 4 Buttons and Badge
Minifigures: Town: Classic Town: Coast Guard

Minifig No: twn019s Name: Patron - Black Suit with Two Buttons and Red Tie (Torso Sticker), Black Legs, Black Cowboy Hat
*
twn019s (Inv) Patron - Black Suit with Two Buttons and Red Tie (Torso Sticker), Black Legs, Black Cowboy Hat
Minifigures: Town: Classic Town

Minifig No: pln115 Name: Plain White Torso with White Arms, Red Legs, Red Female Hair
*
pln115 (Inv) Plain White Torso with White Arms, Red Legs, Red Female Hair
Minifigures: Town: Classic Town

Minifig No: tech027 Name: Technic Figure Orange/Black Legs, Orange Torso with Silver Pattern, Black Arms, Black Hair
*
tech027 Technic Figure Orange/Black Legs, Orange Torso with Silver Pattern, Black Arms, Black Hair
Minifigures: Technic: Competition

Minifig No: frnd102 Name: Friends Stephanie - Dark Pink Shorts, White Top with Stars
*
frnd102 (Inv) Friends Stephanie - Dark Pink Shorts, White Top with Stars
Minifigures: Friends

Minifig No: bob034 Name: Flying Dutchman
*
bob034 (Inv) Flying Dutchman
Minifigures: SpongeBob SquarePants

I realized that standardizing this would be as simple as a single sentence added
to the appropriate section of this page (which hasn't been updated since
2010):

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=179

But before we change anything, let us discuss. Do you want minifigure titles
to include set numbers? Do you find set numbers in minifigure titles useful
or can you live without them? Once we decide and get written policy in place,
then we only need to examine the titles of all the minifigures and adjust as
necessary. If we go with including set numbers, then the format would be this
(with the words Multiple Sets instead of individual set numbers for figures that
appear in more than one set):

Minifigure Name (Set 1000-1)
Minifigure Name (Multiple Sets)

If we go with not including set numbers, then we just need to remove existing
set numbers from titles. I don't have a preference either way on this one.
Thoughts?

The 18 Juniors Cars "minifigs" are an experiment. You are correct that another
type of item would ultimately need to be created, but for the time being we are
using the minifig type because the different partout values (assembled/broken)
can easily be seen.

I would like to hear from people who are interested in listing larger assemblies
like this. I would also appreciate hearing from those who think it's not
a good direction for the site to take.

I would like to suggest that when viewing a set's inventory, an icon be displayed

set. In the event a new set is inventoried and contains a previously unique
element, the icon disappears.

Thanks for your consideration.

BL should create a uniform fee disclosure template that will appear on each seller's
Store Terms page. It should be the same format for every store, and once sellers
enter the various fees into their store settings the chart would automatically
populate and appear on the seller's page.

ONLY fees that are clearly disclosed on the chart could be included in an invoice,
and a buyer would have the right to cancel any order when invoiced with undisclosed
fees, without fear of receiving negative feedback. Same for sellers who cancel
orders when the buyer cancels over fees that were validly charged.

Here's an idea of what a chart COULD look like; anything clear and uniform
works, not unlike the fee disclosure information that must be included with credit
card and home mortgage offers in the US:

In BrickLink, can't you just hit the back button on your browser from a timed-out

I get an unexpected logout before completing a task. Then I just open a new

I would like to suggest the "Sort by" function add "Last 6 Months Sales" as an
option. This could be used when looking at a Wanted List, a set's Inventory,
and anywhere else with a Sort By feature (applicable to sets & parts).

I think it would be very helpful to arrange items on my Wanted List by Last 6
Months Sales averages, or to see which items in a ses I am parting out are most
expensive, without doing exhaustive research.

Perhaps 3rd party software has these capabilities, but I'm not interested
in those.

Thanks,

K

PS - I don't know if this has been discussed before (A quick forum search
reveals nothing). Sorry if it's been brought up already.

I would tend to agree with this opinion. I wouldn't touch an entire marketplace
website, let alone a store within the website, if the top of the page reads "Possible
scam activity occurring right now" in a red box.

I think more can be done to quietly prevent scamming, though, such as putting
caps on a new seller's transaction activity for a short period.

K

In Suggestions, picabo writes:
  In Suggestions, blackballoon writes:
I propose an advisory system be implemented to issue notice of heightened risk
for scam and fraud sellers, as well as fraudulent and non paying buyer activity
on the site.

If Admin has the power to prevent even just one scam transaction from occuring,
then it is worth it in my opinion. Not everyone files disputes and not everyone
remembers to follow through with disputes, and some new honest sellers even ship
before getting paid, so scams do often result in real lossea for members.

I propose some kind of scam alert level, similar to the terror advisory color
levels that some developed nations now have around the world to combat global
terrorism.

During times of heightened reported or anticipated sitewide negative activity
(as measured by suspensions, NRS/NSS activity, negative feedback, etc) (or during
media events like the recent Lego Movie, or during holiday times) there could
be banners on all or some pages of the site, with a corrsponding color to indicate
the severity of the threat.

When such activity returns to more normal historical levels, the advisory notices
can be removed.

Advisory notices could be issued with various buying and selling recommendations,
for example to raise your store minimum, or do not transact with members with
X number of feedback, or do not transact with members or a particular country
or join date. Email notices, messages, and forum posts could be issued depending
on the threat. These are just a few basic suggestions.

Of course with such a system there may be the risk of alienating otherwise good
buyers and sellers, but one can always bypass recommendations and proceed with
caution. The benefit of the advisory hopefully will outweigh the risk.

I am open to other ideas or suggestions relating to this concept.

While I applaud your reasons, I vote no. Simple reasons really. Banners across
the pages would be a business killer.

People need to read store terms.

If it's too good to be true.....

No one here likes it when a buyer gets taken advantage of. People on this forum
are pretty savvy and are excellent at weeding out the "takers".

It could be problematic due to some sellers selling multiple lots of the same
part. I know you can already sort by unique lots, but even then some stores
who list multiple lots of the same piece are high on the List.

If you can get the function to only count the lowest price if there are multiple
lots of the same piece then it might work.

What about used vs. new (if you don't specify in your WL)? Does it default
to used, if a store has both conditions of an item?

Despite all this nay-saying, I like the idea, and hope it could one day be implemented.

K

In Suggestions, redmission writes:
I think it would be a good idea to add a "Total Cost" column to this page: http://www.bricklink.com/wantedShop.asp

This column would total up the cost of what it would be for the desired qty for
all the items wanted in the store. That way, you could see which store has the
most number of wanted lots at the lowest price. The min buy is helpful, but
knowing how much all the stores would cost for all the wanted quantities would
be more helpful instead of having to click on all the stores and doing calculations.

any and all fees that will be added to the order. This is NOT about calculating
shipping. It is about calculating only fees. As such, it should be much simpler
to code. In their Store Settings, each seller will be free to set their own parameters
regarding any fees they may or may not charge. If the fee is conditional and
something like a fee of "up to $1.00" for orders "less than $10.00", this can
also be easily coded, input by the seller in their Store Settings and automatically
calculated by the BrickLink system at checkout. If a fee is not shown on the
checkout page, it cannot be charged later by the seller.

So, on checkout, the page could begin by reading something like:

Order Amount: $88.50
Shipping: To be determined
Packing and Handling Fees: $1.00

OPTIONAL additional line items can include State Sales Tax (if any, for US sellers)
and VAT (if not already included in the prices). Although this option is NOT
part of this suggestion and can be discussed and added later.

Second, the Store Terms page... Information about any and all fees should be
required to be clearly stated at the very top of that page with a minimum of
text (maybe 80 characters or less) to explain it. Information about fees should
not be buried deep in the text of long terms and conditions.

Anything that more clearly shows up-front the fees a buyer may have to pay should
be good for everyone. And, as a seller who does not charge fees on most orders,
I like the idea of my checkout page saying: "Packing and Handling Fees: $0.00".

I anticipate someone will ask how BrickLink will be able to code all the different
fees charged by sellers. First, for this suggestion to work, BrickLink needs
to limit the fees that can be charged. I would include the following as permissible
fees:

1. A simple fixed fee on all orders, or on all orders below a certain amount.
E.g. $1.00 fee on all orders, or $1.00 fee on all orders below $10.00.

2. A variable fee *UP TO* a certain amount on all orders, or orders below a
certain amount. E.g. UP TO $1.00 fee on all orders, or UP TO $1.00 fee on orders
below $10.00. The seller will need to set points where this variable fee changes.

3. PayPal fees (in countries where they are permitted). E.g. 3.9% plus $0.30
for all orders being paid via PayPal. Since most sellers that charge PayPal
fees base it on the total payment amount including shipping, and since shipping
may not be known in advance, sellers will just have to slightly increase the
percentage of the order amount to compensate for the fee portion on shipping.
BL will also need to limit the availability of this fee only to sellers located
in countries where PayPal fees are allowed to be charged to buyers. Thus, this
fee would NOT be available for US sellers.

4. Lot fees. E.g. $1.00 fee if there are 50 or more lots in the order, or $1.00
fee if the average lot amount is less than $1.00, or $0.10 fee per lot for all
lots after the 50th lot.

I know some here do not like lot fees, but BrickLink has allowed them for 14
years now and they do serve a legitimate purpose. I ask that you do not let
your aversion to lot fees (or PayPal fees) cause you to vote against this suggestion.
Instead, consider the entire package and the fact that this suggestion will
make fees more clear and obvious to you and all other buyers.

You're right; that last part wasn't clear.

I do not favor the rewarding system. I was merely imagining the reward I'd
enjoy most if the system were implemented. I still prefer it not be implemented.

Sorry to be the only voice of dissent so far, but I am going to have to vote
"no" for this one, and it's not just because I haven't yet contributed
anything to the catalog.

No need for a sorry, free speak, free thought

I would also not be so interested in accepting "points" as payment, because my
fees aren't too high to begin with, being a small store. Points for free
sets, though? That I like.

So, basically you do favor a rewarding system, but don't agree on the reward?
Confusing.... You can not be pro another reward and be anti the rewarding system.
That doesn't add up.
