except the October 21, 2021 date at the top. And while it states that the "changes

Is it October 21, 2021? (NOTE: I mistakenly read October 21, 2020 when I initially

The page is going to be a record of changes that _will_ be made on October 1.
If you go to the list of Catalog help topics at

you can see the messages for the prior two sets of catalog changes that occurred
on October 1, 2020 and April 1, 2021.

Gear items do not have box entries, so there is no way to add it as a box. What
I have done is added the image as an additional image to the item and credited
you with it.
All of this will be changing soon for these Game sets, though:

Without having both on hand, is there a way to know which variant one has?
|
All 24424's have the number molded into the bottom of the part, so it is
easy to know you have that version. If it isn't molded with the number 24424,
then it is a 6183.

My daughter got them as part of a DOTS make and take event well over a year ago

The version with tan printing is
It was released in 2010 and has a Design ID corresponding to that time frame

The version with white printing is
It was first released in 2014 with the old mold number. Then, the mold was redone

All this to say, there is no way that the tan version would have ever had 47566

Thanks for the info. Customer seems to think there is a third color print of
light gray and that the 47566 always has the light gray and the 87568 always
has the white. I asked for a picture of the piece I sent him next to the figure
he has but he never did.
|
Oops. My bad. I read "tan" in your original message instead of "light gray" since
I had just dealt with these parts a couple weeks ago.
The only thing I can think of is print density, then. The color white *is* printed
on dark bluish gray, so it will look light gray if not printed thick enough.

- recombine them how they shall be
- find out what sets the came from
- get missing parts from BL
Trouble is that the category "minifig-torso-assembly-decorated" has 4k items.
There is no option to SORT by COLOR, even this data is in the database of BL.
When not knowing the origin of the item, the basecolor (of body and arms) is
the only thing I know for sure, so I would like to narrow down the list by this,
then look over the pictures until I find which one it is.
Tried this in Brickstore, it also does not allowing sorting this category by
color. Also same in add-brick in rebrickable.

(1) Start at the Color Guide: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp (You
can get to this page by hovering over the "Market" image in the site header and
choosing "Color Guide" under the "Catalog: REFERENCE" section.)
(2) Find the base color you want in the list of colors and click on the number
hyperlinked in the "Parts" column.
(3) Narrow down to the "Minifigure, Torso Assembly" categories if a summary screen
comes up.

Unlikely. This has been mentioned several times over the past couple of years
with more colors than just the tans. It causes problems for sellers when packing.
It is clearly not a high priority for BL. 🙁

To clarify, it is clearly not a high priority for the *users* of BL.
Images are submitted by individuals. Some of those individuals (myself especially
included) spend a considerable amount of time to adjust the colors of the images
to make things better. Other individuals submitting images do not care.
I don't think people complaining about this issue actually know how hard
it is to standardize the tens upon tens upon tens of thousands of part images
one by one. It is a monumental task.

I only have the part in Fabuland Orange.
I agree that I am not certain that the part exists in Fabuland Brown. The set
images clearly show the part in Fabuland Orange.
In both inventories, the parts were originally listed as "brown" and changed
to "fabuland brown" later (2005 and 2008). This probably followed the introduction
of Fabuland Brown in the BrickLink catalog in 2005. Fabuland Orange was not known
in the BrickLink catalog yet at that time, that was introduced in 2012.

Not that I know of. Instructions are not a type of item; they are attached to
a set entry.
I believe what would need to happen is that any instructions for sale on that
set would need to be moved over to the book entry because the xref does not handle
this. This will require someone to contact the one seller who has it listed for
sale to see if they would move it over to the book entry. If the for sale items
were moved, the image could then be removed from the instructions entry and the
number of instructions for the set changed to zero. Then the book could be added
to the inventory.
Once again, I have too much going on right now, so if you and Reza want to see
if you can get it worked out, go for it.

helps to keep the eyes aligned properly:

Comments from Submitter:
Another user contacted me that they had flat silver in this piece and I rechecked mine. It is not the modern flat silver that I am best used to, but I do accept that it is old flat silver. Not pearl light gray. I have other pearl light gray from the set and it looks different.
|
Is this part made out of soft plastic?
|
No
|
Mh, okay.
I'm not against approving this, but I don't know if it will be helpful
in any way. Right now we have this part in flat silver in 7 sets from 2004-2010
and in pearl light gray in 11 sets from 2002-2010. I would assume they are all
the same color, just in different shades. (Fifty shades of silver? )
And as far as I know TLG did not differentiate between pearl light gray and flat
silver anyway.
|
It is no problem approving it now, but all of this might be for naught. It will
hopefully be going away in the next year or two if we get to the project to eliminate
pre-2010 Flat Silver as a thing. It is one of my top goals to get to, and it
will simplify so many entries and inventories in the catalog.
And the axle connector with tooth is made out of a different plastic than ABS.

Comments from Submitter:
SW1005 should be removed and added to 75188-2 as it was a limited release with different box and instructions. Other early sets with different box and instruction releases have also gotten separate entries, such as 4502-1 blue box and 4502-2 original trilogy box
|
As long as there is no second entry for this set, these requests cannot be approved.
And from what I see it is unlikely there there will ever be a second entry.
See https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1125322
If you want to have a second set entry, you will need to convince the catalog
side, not the inventories side.
|
I am pretty convinced. If the packaging is different, and the sets can be distinguished
that easily from the outside, then I see no reason not to have a second set entry.
But I have too much to do as it is, so someone else would need to get the ball
rolling on it to make it happen.

How can you see that it's [P=32064b,7] and not?

The history of the 32064 is pretty much as follows:
- First version: 32064c (in sets until about 2007)
- Second version: 32064b (in sets from about 2004-2010)
- Third version: 32064* (in sets from about 2008-?)
- Fourth version: 32064* (in sets from ?-current)
The last two have not been split because they are pretty much functionally identical
with the Technic hole and underside.

If there is a true functional difference, then possibly, but not right now.

Basically, does the inside of the bottom of the torso assembly you have look
like the image under "Short Ribs" or the image under "Long Ribs"? The "ribs"
are the four inside supports inside each torso. Earlier torsos had the four short
supports, and newer torsos have the four long supports that almost form an 'X'
in the bottom of the torso.

Comparison image, from DeMartinet: https://brickshelf.com/gallery/DeMartinet/Colors/img_2465.jpg
Pearl:
189 Reddish Gold (alt. named Gold Metallic) - Used most notably in Knights'
Kingdom II, but also for Krana-Kal/Kraata in BIONICLE. Like the name says, it's
a reddish gold color, somewhat similar to pearl gold. Replaced by Pearl Gold
in 2006. The minifig sword in the image.
139 Copper - Used most notably in Exo-Force. Kind of brown in color. The
2x2 dome piece in the image.
346 Copper Metallic - A much more orangish color, used between 2017 and
2020. The action figure sword in the image.
Metallic:
300 Copper, Drum Lacquered - Like 139 Copper, but "metallic". The axe-head
in the image.
Personally, I think these are distinct enough to warrent individual colors.
There's of course, the BIONICLE copper masks of victory (which use 176 Red
Flip/Flop) and golden masks (178 Yellow Flip/Flop) (also sold as Metallic Gold)
but given the very limited usage, a unique color is not needed there. Ditto for
the Pohatu/Pahrak canister lid, ofc.

In Suggestions, ProneToDrift writes:
| Bringing this back, since the issue is coming up frequently for me again.
Dear BrickLink admin folks,
It would be greatly appreciated if a different system for listing Kraata (and/or
other dual color molded parts) could be implemented. BIOSector has detailed descriptions
of each Kraata color pairing, which in theory should make it easy to create a
drop down menu based on the head and tail colors.
As an example:
Say I have a stage 1 Kraata that has a metallic green head. I select “Stage 1”,
then “Head Color: Metallic Green/Lemon Metallic.” (Listing the most common name
for the color and then the official LEGO name for that color). Then I click “Tail
Color:” and am presented with a short drop-down list of possible tail colors,
which in this instance are “Lime/Bright Yellowish-Green”, “Dark Green”, “Metallic
Blue/Sand Blue Metallic”, “Red/Bright Red”, and “Dark Grey Metallic”. (These
are the only 5 tail colors that are paired with a metallic green head.)
The final listing title would look like this:
“Stage 1 Kraata: Lemon Metallic Head, Bright Yellowish Green Tail”
Implementing a system like this would ensure that sellers clearly disclose both
colors of the item before posting, rather than being able to list only the stage
and head color and ignore the instruction to “describe the rest.” Many Kraata
listings do not describe the rest of the item; in fact, many of them leave the
description blank, making their listing functionally worthless. Unless I contact
each and every one of those sellers to ask about their one specific item, there
is no way for me to know if it is an item I am interested in.
As a result, a great many items that people have listed in hopes of selling get
passed over and ignored, due primarily to seller error, but it would be really
helpful to us collectors and customers to be able to get a clear and standardized
system in place to help us make informed purchases.
Thank you for reading!

I'm sure that's a really simple exercise for you, but when some of my
parts are counterparts and some of my parts are regular parts and some of my
parts are alternates, there's probably a step I'm missing when I just
look at it.
And when I'm aggregating all of my sets to see what I have and what parts
I still need to add to a wishlist, it's even more muddled. Perhaps you can
share a little more detail of the steps to take to make sure I have all the
parts of a set?
|
The first step on an inventory page, such as
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=4789-1
is to click on the "Break Minifigs" link near the top.
Now you will have a complete list of every part you should have in the set.
If you have an assembled Counterpart, take it apart into its constituent parts
and use those to compare with the parts in the Regular Items section.
If you have a stickered part, pretend it does not have a sticker and see if it
is in the Regular Items section.
Easy peasy.

| In Catalog, Bricklanta writes:
| I noticed in set 10740-1 (Fire Patrol Suitcase) that two of the three counterparts
are redundant. In the regular set inventory are parts for a motorcycle sub assembly.
That subassembly (52035c03) is listed as a counterpart for 6 regular parts -
1x Red fairing, 1x Black chassis, 2x Black tires 50861, and 2x Red wheels 50862.
However two wheel & tire subassemblies are *also* listed as counterparts - 2x
50862c01, which comprises the same two tires and the same two wheels as the motorcycle
subassembly.
|
Wheel and tire assemblies are always listed as counterparts in an inventory separate
from any larger counterpart assemblies that may contain them. This is standard
catalog practice.
| I feel this is redundant and causes confusion - a single individual regular piece
has two counterparts. Since counterparts are barred from having MatchIDs, this
is really confusing and trying to do something like finding out if i have all
the parts of a set is complicated.
|
You only need look at the Regular Items section to see if you have all the parts
of a set.
| I don't know if there are any guidelines on counterparts - but it's clear
to me that putting sub-sub-assemblies in the inventory isn't standard, otherwise
we'd see torso assemblies in counterparts to minifigures.
|
As mentioned above, it is standard. Torso assemblies are not included in counterparts
because torso assemblies come assembled in a set and are only listed in the Regular
Items section.
| Can we at least have a guideline that a single regular part should only have
1 counterpart listed in the inventory? Or move the wheel&tire to be a counterpart
inside the motorcycle assembly?
|
I am sorry, but no.
