Set No: 42080 Name: Forest Machine
*

and according to the inventory, the black and

Clearly, people were not supposed to peel off the
sticker from the sheet and rotate it 180 degree in order to correct it as per
instructions.

The set instructions are not meant to be definitive?

Also the way it is printed on the sticker sheet make more sense.

. . . than the set instructions.

"The stickered brick .... is applied as it appears on the sticker sheet but the
instructions and box art show it applied upside down. Since both ways are correct,

If both ways are correct, how should the stickers for this set be applied?

Part No: 1256stk01 Name: Sticker Sheet for Set 1256 - (22648/4129816)
*
1256stk01 Sticker Sheet for Set 1256 - (22648/4129816)
Parts: Sticker Sheet

In exactly the way they are oriented on the sticker sheet or the way they are
shown being applied to LEGO parts in set instructions?

Must there be a third entry or keep it as it was?

Part variants are a contentious issue right now. I've added an additional
note to this part:

Part No: 4066 Name: Duplo, Brick 1 x 2 x 2
*
4066 Duplo, Brick 1 x 2 x 2
Parts: DUPLO, Brick

and added it to our extensive list of unsplit variants:

You're welcome to submit a comparison photo of the two different undersides.

I'm hoping that when you rename things you will take in to account sorting
alphabetically by part name.

I absolutely do take that into account.

Here's the problem: standardizing the catalog would result in changes. The
site believes that changes frighten people. Therefore, changes are sometimes
met with resistance. Some changes that have been made were reversed by the site.

it clearly wasn't considered with this change.

It was considered. An appearance of incompetence on our part doesn't equate
to actual incompetence. Other factors are involved.

I won't even get in to why bricks and plate are 1x4 (smaller number first)
but slopes and wedges are 4x1 (larger number first).

Because BrickLink dimensions don't always make sense. The catalog team does
not have the liberty to correct these kinds of problems at this point in time.

thanks for all your hard work. I'm sure it's not easy when people gripe
at every turn.

I don't consider discussion to be griping. Feedback is important and an
ongoing conversation between members and the catalog team is greatly welcomed,
even if we can't always agree on everything.

Keep in mind, though, that every public expression of discontent reinforces the
site's belief that members abhor change. Contacting us privately with dissatisfactions
is preferred. We will respond.

  When did this happen?

June 1st, 2020.

I see that the change logs are updated sometimes with Name changes and other
times not.

Changes to item titles are only logged when we go through the change request
form. To learn more about logged and unlogged changes, see this page:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=519

hopefully they will be more consistent with it when they update things
in a week or two.

All changes in item type and category are always logged. And to answer this
question you posted in another thread:

Are you planning on posting a list of the changes?

Yes. Not only will they be logged in change logs, but a separate dedicated page
has been created as a quick reference guide:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2487
