I absolutely do take that into account.

Here's the problem: standardizing the catalog would result in changes. The
site believes that changes frighten people. Therefore, changes are sometimes
met with resistance. Some changes that have been made were reversed by the site.

It was considered. An appearance of incompetence on our part doesn't equate
to actual incompetence. Other factors are involved.

I won't even get in to why bricks and plate are 1x4 (smaller number first)
but slopes and wedges are 4x1 (larger number first).

Because BrickLink dimensions don't always make sense. The catalog team does
not have the liberty to correct these kinds of problems at this point in time.

thanks for all your hard work. I'm sure it's not easy when people gripe
at every turn.

I don't consider discussion to be griping. Feedback is important and an
ongoing conversation between members and the catalog team is greatly welcomed,
even if we can't always agree on everything.

Keep in mind, though, that every public expression of discontent reinforces the
site's belief that members abhor change. Contacting us privately with dissatisfactions
is preferred. We will respond.

I see that the change logs are updated sometimes with Name changes and other
times not.

Changes to item titles are only logged when we go through the change request
form. To learn more about logged and unlogged changes, see this page:

hopefully they will be more consistent with it when they update things
in a week or two.

All changes in item type and category are always logged. And to answer this
question you posted in another thread:

Are you planning on posting a list of the changes?

This is not something that the catalog team can do. It requires recoding the
website. But it has been suggested multiple times, as the above messages demonstrate.
