It is actually up to the buyer to provide the correct information, but buyers
are rather limited by BL's way of doing things.

It would be good to have an extra step, showing the buyer exactly how their address
will appear to sellers with a check box saying that they agree it is in the correct
format.

I once had a buyer that was along the lines of:
A Name
1 Street Name
LONDON
LONDON
London AB1 2CD
United Kingdom

I think they lived in London! I missed out two lines of the address and the parcel
still got there fine.

With international addresses it sometimes is not clear what is the city, what
is the region, what is the streetname, etc.

Use the UPU tool, then it is easy to see:
https://www.upu.int/en/Postal-Solutions/Programmes-Services/Addressing-Solutions#scroll-nav__5

And even with national addresses it is not clear. I just had somebody with two
streetnames and numbers. This is probably the address 1 streetname, number and
the optional address 2 streetname, number. But when shipping I can only use one
address. When would I as a seller use the optional address, how would i know
to use it?

The buyer should tell you, surely?

And it would also be useful if the address is filled out in 'english'
(i.e. no chinese, russian, israelian characters that are not always available
in shipping label apps)

For international orders there are countries which require addresses to be written
in national alphabet. It would be better if the information is actually available
in BL as it is required by the buyer's postal system as it is a pain to get
the required information after the fact from buyers.
https://www.upu.int/UPU/media/upu/documents/PostCode/Universal-POSTCODE%C2%AE-DataBase-specific-FAQs.pdf

Oh dang, yes. I kinda can read greek and a bit of russian but chinese and hebrew
are defintely beyond me. Some countries have a weird postal adress system. But
it would make things easier if I have some clear idea what mean what in the adresses.
At least I won't have to google what is what so often.

This would help everyone involved.

If you prefer shops from Western Australia, go to:

https://www.bricklink.com/browseStores.asp?countryID=AU&groupState=Y

and add each of the shops in your region to your list of favorite stores. This
might help you to filter.

This was a feature at one point. I think it got mixed when they did the overhaul
on the site. Not sure why, but it needs to come back.

The worst part is, this used to be a featured. Not sure why it got nixed, but
it needs to come back. I used to use the feature frequently for buying. The sellers
will often times meet up instead of shipping it to you.

I apologize for no pictures. I was so excited about the dark nougat bar that I forgot I had other undetermined pieces. When I set out to sort out the set I dumped all the bags and then started to find variants when it was too late.

The 4032/4032b is an improperly split variant. Due to this, the 4032 currently
in this set are masquerading as undetermined entries. Since you have definitive
proof here of 4032b in this set, I will make the 4032b the regular items and
remove the 4032 entries.

Randy

I got the x variant in my set. These sets came out before x was recognized in the catalog. I do not believe the set ever came with +, but perhaps someone will be able to put it back if I am wrong.

how do you list this for sale? Being that I'm based in the US, most would

don't want to deal with a language mix up. Thoughts?

Hello dear community,

I wrongly got a dog from Lego with the design number 69662. I did some research
and found this dog in the Lego set 60291 Modern Family House (My City), which
is probably intended for the first half of the year. Can you tell me something
about that and can the part already be listed on Bricklink?

best regards

Patrick

Hi, just opened one of these sets and both the extra part as well as the minifugure part are the standard visor in trans dark blue and not the scuba visor. this is also clearly visible in the image of the model.

The instructions for the set also show a normal visor. This would mean that the
minifigure associated with the set

Minifig No: alp017 Name: Dash - Mission Deep Sea, Trans-Dark Blue Scuba Mask
*
alp017 Dash - Mission Deep Sea, Trans-Dark Blue Scuba Mask
Minifigures: Alpha Team: Mission Deep Sea
Marked for Deletion
is also incorrect.

Would you be able to submit a new minifigure to the catalog to correct the inventory?

very nicely! Thanks!

Here is a link to the relevant inventory guidelines:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1562#regularItems

Parts on Sprues - Complete sprues are included in this section unless
some parts from the sprues are used in minifigures. In that case, the parts from
the sprues that are not used in minifigures are included in this section.

"This section" refers to the Regular Items section of the inventory.

Please verify, i'm sure.

On top of the 2 corner plates from step 11?

Looks like a 1x2 and a 1x4 plate.

Yes, on top of the 2 corner plates from step 11.

I was wrong, sorry. From the low resolution pdf they looked just right other
two 2 x 2 Corner.

6034-1 (Inv) Black Monarch's Ghost
36 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 1990
Sets: Castle: Black Knights

* Delete 1 Part 4502a Red Minifigure, Plume Feather Small
* Change 1 Part Red {4502c Minifigure, Plume Feather Large to 4502b Minifigure, Plume Feather Triple}

Comments from Submitter:
It can be seen on the pictures as well as in my instruction that the knight has the 4502b Plume Feather Triple on his helmet. Nothing else.

The large and small feathers came with the set (on one sprue with the triple
feather), and are therefore needed for the complete set.

The triple feather is already included in the minifigure inventory:

Minifig No: cas172 Name: Breastplate - Armor over Black, Black Helmet, Dark Gray Visor, Red 3-Feather Plume
*
cas172 (Inv) Breastplate - Armor over Black, Black Helmet, Dark Gray Visor, Red 3-Feather Plume
Minifigures: Castle: Black Knights

I see. But wouldn't it make more sense then to move the large and the small
feather to the inventory of the minifig? So all feathers are located at the same
spot?

No, because the minifigure doesn't need the other parts. The situation is
not ideal, but the admins wanted it this way to indicate that those extra parts
came in the set, but they are not loose extra parts like other extras. When one
item from a sprue is removed for a minifigure, the other parts become parts of
the set, even if not needed for the build.

They came all together in sprue
[p=4502c01]

No it doesn't make sense because the minifig does not have those feather.

The current inventory as it is now does not make sense neither. The inventory
admins and catalog admins and contributors (like me) know this but there is not
any good solution for now.

The whole sprue cannot be presented like this set

Set No: 6057 Name: Sea Serpent
*
6057-1 (Inv) Sea Serpent
105 Parts, 5 Minifigures, 1992
Sets: Castle: Black Knights
becuase then, one sprue would have quantity 2 (one one the sprue and one with
the minifigure)

We've been successfully trading on here for 15 years and have seen, commented

In all that time we've never had or even felt the need to have a sale.
Like everywhere else some sales are genuine opportunities to get a bargain but
most are not. I don't think it is possible without removing aspects of the
free market to regulate sales or descriptions of what constitutes a sale here,
there are too many variables. I think the vast majority of BL buyers are smart
enough to watch out for the small print as they have to with or without sales;
I think it is some of the ridiculous add-on charges themselves that are the problem
rather than the sales here. Complex fees are a turn off to buyers and maybe it
is many of those stores that resort to them that need to have sales to offset
the negative effect of them on orders. I'm not sure a fix is needed here
but if it is then perhaps the easiest way would be simply to remove the sales
feature altogether but I'm not suggesting that.

Plus individual buyers will see different things from sales posts. I often look
at them and I reckon I end up least favouriting more stores than I actually buy
from after following a "huge sale" link.

When sales and promotions posts are made on the forum, please have sellers disclose
all of the fees and additional charges as part of the forum post.

It is presumably also an unfair business practice in other economies to not include
important information in a promotion. Negating a discount through fees is sort
of important information.

I'm not sure I understand... if all fees are disclosed on the store terms
page, why does a quick 5% off post need to have the fees included in it?

See below

Are you included shipping charges in that statement?

@Jean: Good relevant request even though personally I structurally ignore all
those sales posts.

@Firestar:
Because in at least one of the world's countries it is illegal not to explicitly
disclose this essential information in the advertisement itself. https://www.reclamecode.nl/nrc_taxonomy/algemeen/
#8.4 Disclosure of full address and all costs are deemed essential for distant
selling advertisements.

And indeed, if you advertise 5% off on everything, that must include the same
discount on shipping unless specified otherwise. If the discount is on the products
only, the sale post is in fact misleading,

which is illegal as well. That means that the majority of sales posts here on Bricklink are in fact breaking the ToS to comply with the applicable laws.

No offense, but...

The global stage of commerce is not mandated by the EU nor by any other specific
region in the world!

How can any rational thought expect all of the world's economic laws and
regs concatenated, be adhered to in a single transaction? If such a thing were
actually attempted, it would cripple commerce with conflation and disaccord

None of what was said is any way determined to take away rational thinking. If
sale terms specifically wish to exploit a certain loophole, then just say so.
There is nothing in any law which prevents a seller from advertising goods to
the exclusion of another region or a specific person.

My original post was for the site to stop a certain mercenary practice, which
you would think should be good sense anyway. Which is to give the customer all
of the required information upfront as part of the promotion.

Alternatively put, imagine if your local supermarket advertises with a mail shot
that all soap is 20% off terms only in store. Climb in your car, get to the store,
put the items in a cart when there are no specific terms mentioned on the item
shelf, walk to the till and then get hit a 25% surcharge for packaging on soap.
When you say, no this is not what was advertised, the till operator points to
a small sign next to the till which says this. And then refuse to cancel your
purchase and force you to pay before you can leave. And throws a hissy fit. And
bars you from ever coming back.

If this sort of practice makes sense, it would be understandable that one would
balk at the notion of actually giving customers all of the required information
needed to make a binding decision.

Many sellers absolutely cannot stand the thought of cancelling an order if a
buyer asks them to. I should like to think that sellers be allowed to set the
hook once a customer nibbles, provided the lure they hang out is not coated with
poison.

Who wouldn't want to hand their personal business decisions over to unelected
bureaucrats of other nations Let's not go down that rabbit hole of which
nation's law/regs are to be adopted and to what extent, not yet anyway!

Laws, regulations and taxes on this side of the pond, are created by those we
elect or have chosen to represent our interest. Hopefully it's the
same for you and others.

Politics - willingly giving some people permission to tell you what to think
and make you pay for the privilege.

My point is simple, be more reserved with such terms as "illegal" when applying
it to the actions other members, as some are wont to do here.

It's moot anyway, as the global path that BL/TLG takes and expresses in their
ToS contract, is what we've agreed to. It's the site that is threading
the needle, in other words.

-popsicle

Yes the ToS says a lot of things many sellers do not care for and actually do
not do or know about. So does PayPal's terms, so does every other commercial
entity. We can expect to self-police and be good at it as adults, but self-policing
(which is what I think you mean here, but I could be wrong) does not really work
- actually I've not known of any organisation which has tried to self-police
and be successful at it. If self policing was in any way successful, then feedback
would have been the most trustworthy aspect of this site.

You slightly misunderstood my shipping question (I do admit it is vague and not
well written). What I meant was, when OP is talking about disclosing fees, does
that include shipping fees? As in, would he want me, on a 5% off sale post, include:

An order weighing x weight to x country costs $x to ship

And then repeat that 50 times to cover every weight bracket and country I ship
to?

And to you directly, so because only one country (that you know of) requires
that information, everyone regardless of what country they are situated in, should
be forced to include that information? Any BL sellers from that country should
abide by that law but not the others. Please, less restrictions and rules on
the sellers.

Being honest here, if a buyer isn't going to check the store terms for fees,
he's probably not going to even read the sale itself, just the title.

Sellers could at least follow the laws of their own countries.

I'd much rather the limit on "sales" post be enforced.

1 post per 24h is not a hard rule but we do try to explain and enforce it.

Now, if high-feedback sellers and buyers could explain to them that it’s not
very useful….

It is presumably also an unfair business practice in other economies to not include
important information in a promotion. Negating a discount through fees is sort
of important information.

I'm not sure I understand... if all fees are disclosed on the store terms
page, why does a quick 5% off post need to have the fees included in it?

Are you included shipping charges in that statement?

@Jean: Good relevant request even though personally I structurally ignore all
those sales posts.

@Firestar:

Who wouldn't want to hand their personal business decisions over to unelected
bureaucrats of other nations Let's not go down that rabbit hole of which
nation's law/regs are to be adopted and to what extent, not yet anyway!

Laws, regulations and taxes on this side of the pond, are created by those we
elect or have chosen to represent our interest. Hopefully it's the
same for you and others.

I'd much rather the limit on "sales" post be enforced. You can't dictate
pricing but you can limit access to the forums for repeated, redundant sales
posts. But that doesn't cure the phony sales posts. One thing that might
help is having the country of the store shown on the subject line or by the
user name. Right now I am not ordering internationally and would like to be
able to ignore all notices that I am not interested in.

You can enforce it yourself. I have about a dozen or so stores that are both
least favourites stores and also on my forum ignore list due to excessive and/or
fake sale posts. And a lot more least favourite stores for fake sales. If someone
advertises a sale here and their prices are still above average for common items,
I add them to my least favourites. Chances are I wouldn't but from them anyway
but at least adding them stops them coming up in wants list searches.
