| To come back on the serif numbered bricks (3005pt{number}s) the variations in
print are due to the material (CA, ABS) and the mold pip (edge, side):
1. CA with old logo and edge mold pip (around 1958-1963). Old logo is wide straight.
2. ABS with old logo and edge mold pip (around 1963-1968). Old logo is wide round.
3. ABS with modern logo and side mold pip (around 1968-......)
See pictures.
This also explains the variantion in the print, which are in all the 3 cases
embossed. The 3005pt{number} is also embossed and the 3005pt{number}b has a surface
print.
In Catalog Identification, primadeluxe writes:
| Within the serif numbered bricks (3005pt{number}s) I found also some difference
in the print. See picture. For example number 6: right in the picture has an
old logo on the stud and the two on the left have modern and old logo on the
stud, but I think this are just variations.
So maybe a reshuffle of the images, variantions and sets appearing is in order.
Also looking at set 237, because the bold numbered bricks could not be a alternate
for this set. The bold numbers all have a modern logo (1968) and yet in 1966
the set 237 (1960) was replaced by set 437. So the bold numbered bricks could
be a alternate for set 437, but not for set 237.
In Help, primadeluxe writes:
| I think the serif number bricks (3005pt{number}s) should be appear in the 3 sets
487, 437 and 237 and not the ones which are know appearing (3005pt{number}).
Looking at the pictures of these sets, it would make sence, also because the
serif bricks have both the modern logo (appears in 1968) and old logo (appears
in 1958) on the studs.
The number bricks of my picture only have the modern logo on the stud and from
which sets they are I do not know. I have looked at a lot of pictures of sets
with numbered bricks, but did not find one with the bricks on my picture. So
they could easely be the 3005pt{number} bricks.

is the bold font (NL: 'vetgedrukt' ) as in the left in your
picture,
is the serif font (NL: 'met schreef' ) as in the right in
your picture.
is neither bold nor with serif, so must be the middle one in your
picture. It's image is a render, not a photo. This may explain why it looks
differently. Looking at the part numbering, it may have originally been intended
as the non-distinguished variety, but seeing your picture, it must be the plain
(thin) variety.
Can you upload your image as an additional image for these parts? I think it
is enlightening to see the bricks side by side for comparison.

* Add 1 Part 3188a Red Door 1 x 3 x 2 Right with Thin Handle (Alternate)
Comments from Submitter:
I am not sure if this set just came with these doors with thin handles, as the set has at least been issued twice (one with FTPine and one with GTPine). That is why I submit the doors with thin handles as a alternate, because these are in the set I bought as a child. Or was it a birthdaypresent? Hahaha!
|
Just like the other sets that have had the doors replaced, there is a very strong
possibility that this set never had the thick-handled doors.
Instead of adding these doors as alternates, I am going to put them in the Regular
Items section since they chronologically came before the doors with thick handles.
I am also going to remove the thick-handled doors from the inventory. If someone
can later prove that this set ever came with thick-handled doors, then those
can be readded as alternates to the thin-handled versions.
Cheers,
Randy

I built this set brand new from LEGO.com I double checked my extra parts and compared between Bricklink and Rebrickable.

I watched a real-time build of the entire set, and all of the extras listed in
the inventory on BrickLink were correct except for the four changes that you
have outlined here.
Requests accepted.

Beware with this feature: you can apply the same order multiple times, even to
the same list.
So an ordered part will be counted multiple times.
Also, do not take for granted that an ordered part will be in the package or
that you’ll receive the package. Most of the time, the part will be there and
the package will arrive, but there might be errors, missing parts, wrong colours….

| Hello
I would like the wanted list(s) to be automatically updated when i purchase certain
items that are on those list(s).
It would really save me a lot of time not having to figure out which items to
delete from the wanted list(s), and which ones to keep.
Kind regards

I'm amazed that, despite the head being rotated, it's actualy printed
level. That's gotta be a misprint!
|
It is interesting that all the colours are aligned correctly on an unaligned
part, so they must be doing "wet-on-wet" printing - printing one colour directly
after another without moving the part.

Follow-up from:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1207021
Peeron has the the earliest version, in which we can see white
and light gray
I do have another version with ID 120530, that has extra pages 16-17.
On the insturctions page 16-17, there are white
and light gray
and on the extra pages 16-17, there are light gray
and black
Question: in what set and which version of insturctions, light gray
is used?!
Answer: set
So TLG did a back and forth 6540a-6540b-6540a
Questions 2: Is there any difference between white 6540a (from 1994) and light
gray 6540a (from 1999)?
****************
There are 20 of black
used on both versions as follows:
2 page 12 step 14
2 page 20 step 21
2 page 24 step 24
4 page 36 step 5
4 page 36 step 6
2 page 37 step 30
2 page 38 step 31
2 page 42 step 7
2 page 43 step 8

Almost certainly a misprint but something that I think will be worth something
to the right person as its set at a nice rotating angle and whilst you can always
set heads at a full 90 degrees where its facing out from the side that angle
always looks a bit forced. I think someone would appreciate something like that
for a display scene compared with always having their astromech droids facing
forwards the whole time
In fact rather than re-releasing almost identical R2-D2's it would be a nice
touch if Lego intentionally made some like this to give a bit more variation
to what is otherwise a difficult minifigure to make look unique when compared
with other minifig characters.
I have lots of those heads and they look to all be facing forwards from what
I can tell
|
Of course with it being a relatively new set there is always the possibility
that someone doing the set inventory assumed it was the same version as what
appears in the other sets but given the Lego site has images of this minifig
facing forwards I can't imaging it to be an intentional difference?
