No, distant selling isn't a game anymore; just talk about this with PayPal,

So, you think paypal will tell me I "have to get my money back"?

you think any government would say "that's not a right you can choose
to use or not"

Seriously?

If I want someone to ship without insurance, I'm going to benefit from that
and if it doesn't work out, I'm going to hold THEM responsible for my
choice?

All this would do is dry up the sellers willing to ship to save me money

... Ssssooooo... If it's seller responsibility should the seller foot the
bill for mandatory insurance?

Depends on your risk management strategy. I charge insurance on orders over
$50, I will replace or refund all orders lost, and we have decided that we can
handle the occasional $50 or less "loss."

We have an order out right now that appears to be lost that has 10 rare items.
So, I just took another 10 out of my inventory as insurance for the buyer in
case it is indeed lost, it will be a minor hit, but the customer service, in
my mind, is worth it.

I believe that Bricklink should null and void all of the "I am not responsible
for your order once I hand it off to the shipper" nonsense. IMO, this only
encourages bad selling practices and unhappy customers.

If you are a seller, you are bound by the same contract that your buyer is agreeing
to upon submission of their order.

Hi,

You should be able to find a part by its LEGO Design ID here because BrickLink
uses it as a base for its IDs.

The differences are:
1. Some parts have multiple Design IDs for LEGO but are “bunched” together on
BL.  In that case, the BL parts has the other Design IDs as “Alternate IDs” and
they are searchable too.
2. Some parts have one Design ID for LEGO but are deemed different on BL.  In
that case, the BL parts IDs have a letter or another suffix.  For instance,
3001 = brick 2x4, 3001old = the older version(s), without inner supports.
3. On BrickLink, decorated parts (print or sticker) use the plain part’s ID,
with a “p…” suffix.  For instance 3005p04.
4. Some parts are a composite, an assembly of subparts (either sold that way
by LEGO or assembled afterward but difficult to disassemble).  Those parts have
a “c…” suffix.

For 2, 3, 4, you can find the part by adding an asterisk (*) to the ID: searching
“3005*” will give you all the decorated 1x1 bricks (3005).

You should also be able to find a part by its LEGO Element ID (called PCC, Part
Colour Code here) too.

That being said, 3895 doesn’t seem to be a LEGO design ID.
Does it have a LEGO logo somewhere?  (Not all LEGO parts do but when they have,
we are sure they aren’t clones )

Could you post a pic?
That’s the ultimate solution when you can’t find part: use the community

Regardless of the rights of the buyer in the sellers country, you can 'have'
a right and not exercise it.

if I'm holding the seller responsible when I'm trying to save money,
the seller may simply choose not to give me a choice in the matter the next time.
And I will always want the right to choose.

I would reply, thank you for the offer of the 50%, but I took my chances in sending
it uninsured. That's just me though

If the seller paid insurance, which they should have on an order over $10 usd.
They should be reimbursed the full cost. You should too. We've had 2 orders
lost by usps, one was delivered 3 months later. Refund was issued prior, all
good. Cost of doing business.

And only 1/1000 have actually been lost or stolen.

Agree on approx this number; in short, it's very small.

Much more, if a seller pays for insurance, imagine what's the cost on 1000
order... Refund from time to time may be cheaper.

But of course it's a bit more complex, there's tracking which may not
be provided without insurance (depending Country/postal), and other legal concerns...

I've never had anything stolen, just a few hiccups on the road. About 4%
of my mail is not delivered. They're almost always waiting for pick up at
the post office. A tiny percentage are sent back. And only 1/1000 have actually
been lost or stolen. I completely gave up on an order once, and it was delivered
7 months later.

You're justified for a full refund, but I'd err on the side of optimism
and eat the costs.

Absolutely not, 100% refund is.

A couple months ago we've a 250+ € order lost, and discovered even with the
proper insurance rate, French Post Colissimo only refund private customers to
100% - but 70% to professionals

In short, we lost the order, time to pick/prepare it, ship it, and 30% of the
value.

But still of course we've refund 100%.

Also, sellers: read *well* your insurance terms especially for pros

It's completely the seller's responsibility. If he chose not to do tracking,
that's on him to accept the risk.

Which settings are you talking about?

1. Icon My BL »» Settings »» My Wanted List Settings

There’s a “Save Settings” button at the bottom of the options.

2. On the Buy Page (icon Want »» Buy), you have Store Filters (see pic).
Those should be memorized, by preference cookies.
So maybe check that you accept those cookies: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/cookies.page
But even if you don’t accept cookies you should be able to change them (and
you would have to, each time, because without preference cookies, they revert
to the defaults… but that doesn’t prevent you from changing them, just from keeping
them).

Or other settings I forgot about?

IOW, more info please

Was the shipping a priority service, for example, air, or was it sent by some
economical shipping service, for example, surface or economy air?

Definitely ensure both you and the seller check the shipping agencies responsible
for handling the parcel in both countries. Both you and the seller should also
check with the Customs agency in the respective country, perhaps it was delayed
there?

Sometimes packages show up late because they went to an unexpected destination.
You might still get your package, although as you state, there is a large possibility
it was lost or stolen.

The package should have had a Customs form, sometimes they can track it via that
number, if you or the seller have it. In some cases they use a declaration sticker
but if it's for goods nowadays, it needs to be a properly filled out Customs
form for the relevant country.

Cheers ...

Hello all. This may be my first post here.

In the listing information of a set, there are two sections at the bottom that
I don’t understand. What are “alternate parts” and “counter parts?”

Thanks,
- Rob

See https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1562

Alternate is for instance when some copies of the set contain a brick with solid
studs and other copies of the same set have been found with this brick with open
studs.

Counter parts is for instance a wheel and a tire listed each separate in a set,
with the combination of both in the counterpart section. Similarly for unstickered
parts + sticker sheets in the main section, and the stickered parts in the counter
parts section.

counterparts are for things like stickered parts or part assemblies like a
turntable where the base an top are connected. alternate items is for when 1
part is found in 2 different versions or moulds in a set it gets added to alternates
or if a set is redesigned during production but stays as the same set then then
new parts get added there

Hello all. This may be my first post here.

In the listing information of a set, there are two sections at the bottom that
I don’t understand. What are “alternate parts” and “counter parts?”

Thanks,
- Rob

Which colour of chrome? There is chrome gold, silver, antique brass, black, blue,
green, and pink.

Chrome silver like an old bumper I want to use them as exhaust pipes

Is this the piece? https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=71075&colorID=22&in=A

Thanks for the help, yes I came across that one too but I'm thinking it might
be to long but if I order some and they don't work they just go into inventory
so win win. Thanks again.

If you go to the parts page for the piece that you are looking for an click the
"Color Info" tab, under the Known Color, you can click the color of the
part and it will show you all the available sets that it came in.
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=4073#T=C

For 1x1 round plate, it only came in

Chrome Antique Brass
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=4073&colorID=57&in=A

Chrome Gold
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=4073&colorID=21&in=A

Chrome Silver
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=4073&colorID=22&in=A

Thanks for your help, I went through the part and color search for hours but
I found a substitute

The recent Skyline GT-R has a couple pieces, one in paticular is used for exhaust
tips.

Has this for NOS tanks

and this for exhaust tip

Need help to confirm I have a complete set of part bags for this set. The instruction
manual shows 13 numbered bags but does not specific how many of the mini bags
with same number should be included.

I have main bags 1-13 and mini bags 4, 6 and 11.

Need to know if I am missing any.

Thanks in advance!

It should be second line from the bottom on the left in the "order summary"

Found it, thanks

I found this in a garage sale and I am trying to estimate it but can't find
the reference in the bricklink catalog.

Has anyone more info about it or if the reference does exist could you let me
know where?

thanks

PS: the mechanism still works fine with the key to rewind it.

Seems now it only lets you put items in Known colors, and as this part comes
in set in another part it might be a technical error indeed.

1. Use your own pictures, not stock photos.
2. List everything that is not perfect with your sets and the boxes and bricks.
3. Keep your terms simple and easy to read and figure out what it means to the
buyer. Terms is not a way to get more money from a buyer.
4. Check the listings of what is for sale and price accordingly. Price is dependent
on condition and how quickly you want to sell your item.
5. If you put the item as complete, make sure. I inventoried or built all sets
months before I started selling.
6. Ship very quickly. You have their money, they should have their items quickly.
7. I used minimum purchases. If any asked me to go under the minimum I took
their order. If someone needed one part, I sent it for free. That is better
than all the advertising you can do.
8. Treat your buyers like you wanted to be treated, or better.
9. You will not become rich because of Bricklink, just picking up a few bucks
here and there.
10. Leave feedback once the order is paid. That is the quickest way to build
your feedback history.
11. If you have a sale make it a real sale. Don't flood the forum announcing
your sale.
12. Work with your buyers. Never get angry, just go by the facts. Be polite
even if a buyer has screwed you somehow.
13. Package very well, in a way they will be your items forever. Don't
let "your" items get damaged in transit.
14. Have fun and enjoy the people you come in contact with. Bad sentence (Churchill
said "Ending a sentence with a preposition is something I can not up with
put."

Hope this helps a bit,

Hi,

There is the “Apply Order” feature (but there’s caveats).

It’s a button on the top row when you visit a Wanted List (WL).
Click on it, it’ll show a dialog to choose an order.
The “application” will change the “Have” fields.
The “Want” fields will stay unchanged.
The progression percentage will change.

BUT
1. You have to be careful because you can apply the same order multiple times,
even on the same list.  It doesn’t remember what it did.  So if you have several
WLs, and they share some parts, it’ll let you think you bought everything when
you might not.
(E.g. you have 10x Red 2x4 bricks in WL1 and WL2, so a total of 20x, you buy
15x, you apply the order to the two lists, and the two lists have a “Have” of
10x.  Not good.)

So it works well when you have only one WL.

2. The “Want” fields are unchanged.  AFAIR, the “Have” field is not used consistently
everywhere: sometimes it’s the “Want minus Have” quantity that’s used (good),
sometimes it’s “Want” and “Have” is disregarded (bad).  It’s generally an option/filter.

(And there might also be problems with lots in the colour N/A (means “any” in
a WL).  I’m not sure how Apply Order handles that, whether all coloured ordered
lots match a wanted N/A lot, or only one (which one?) or none….)

So, we do it with searches, lot per lot, and “order-lists”:
— make a WL from your order (you can do that from the cart, just after checkout,
or from the order details page),
— search your order in all your WLs (you can do that in the Search page for WLs:
menu Want | Search),
— all your WLs will be searched/shown, including the “order-list,”
— you can directly edit your WLs from the search results.

For instance, if you want item X in WL1 and WL2 and if you bought that item X,
the search will show lines for item X: one for WL1, one for WL2, and one for
the “order-list.”  So you’ll easily see how many you wanted and how many you
bought.

Note though that the N/A colour is still a problem here (you ordered an item
with a colour which is generally not N/A, so it doesn’t match the colour in the
WL).

(BTW, it’s not because an item has been ordered that you have it; wait for it
to really arrive before deleting it from your WL )

Yes, unless the order has passed the 6 month limit. IF an order exceeds 6 months,
it gets purged from the BrickLink database.

Cheers ...

  Dear All

Recently, I bought a Sw0308 Saesee Tiin minifigure from set 7931. The minifigure
is in a really good condition with no loose body parts or cracks. I wanted to
change the white arms with dark brown ones however I've heard that dark brown
torso pieces from 2010's are usually fragile and easy to crack and I don't
want to crack the torso. Taking out the white arms won't be a problem but
placing the new arms is risky. What should I do ? Should I still remove and change
the arms or just leave it as it is ? Is there a safe way to change the arms without
breaking the torso ?

There is a video on YouTube that shows the removal of arms with a separator tool.
Since I watched that video, I have not broken the arms or cracked a torso. Putting
the arms back in is a tricky business though.

Good luck!

It should be second line from the bottom on the left in the "order summary"
area when you open up the order.

3. How do you ship sets out? I don't have any idea how I would get the boxes/packaging

IMO, shipping is the most important thing to get right. I recommend you get
an account on Pirate Ship or something similar, it's free. You will get
a discount on USPS rates which makes shipping cheaper for your buyers. Also
get a scale with enough accuracy to show you ounces. You need to know the weight
of the packages you are sending. Pretty much all of my boxes/packaging are re-used
from items I receive. Also, having Lego bagged in sealable plastic baggies is
pretty standard on Bricklink. I've gotten sets bagged up by color and others
that are all the pieces in one bag. I've been fine with either. Good luck!
That first sale is fun and exciting!

Honestly if they aren't in boxes that makes your life 1000 times easier.
I would just keep the cut up boxes and sell them in one lot on ebay.

Since you are new, I would sell the cheaper stuff first. Expensive stuff brings
out both scammers and very picky buyers.

Also inventory you sets, not once but twice

I sold my Dad's star wars collection in 2015 from that era. You couldn't
pay me to do it again.

  1. I'm somewhat concerned about getting a positive feedback as a buyer.
Is it standard to give positive feedback to anyone who buys, or will it take
a few tries. I'm also not sure why a seller would give a buyer a negative
feedback. I'm not sure what purpose that would serve.

The feedback system is used to build trust and to warn others about potentially
problematic members, both buyers and sellers alike. If you pay for your order
within a reasonable amount of time and don't cause any problems, you will
almost surely receive positive feedback. Some sellers are better about giving
feedback than others. The one positive feedback requirement to sell also gives
you a chance to experience what it's like to be a buyer which helps make
you a better seller.

  2. What are some good resources for getting started at the level I'm on?
Most articles online are about becoming a sort of Lego mogul selling all sorts
of new sets rather than just selling off your old sets.

If you haven't done so already, I recommend using BrickEconomy to track the
market value of your collection. This forum is also a good place to start and
there are help pages that explain the buying and selling process in detail.

  3. How do you ship sets out? I don't have any idea how I would get the boxes/packaging
equipment, or how to label everything right before sending it out. I actually
used to work at GameStop so I know how they look when you send them out, I just
don't know how you go about doing that on your own.

What condition are they in? If they are used sets that have been built already,
they will most likely need to be disassembled before shipping and the parts will
need to be packed into bags. You should also check the set contents against the
BrickLink inventory to determine whether or not it is complete. If the sets are
still sealed then they can be shipped as is or without the set box in order to
save space.

Most office supply stores (Staples, Office Depot, etc.) sell basic shipping supplies
like boxes, clear tape, bubble wrap, etc. You can also buy this stuff from Amazon
or Walmart. The post office also has some free shipping supplies.

You can buy postage at the post office, but if you have a printer, you can save
a lot of time and money by purchasing and printing postage at home. If you accept
payments via PayPal, then you can use PayPal to generate a shipping label. You
can also use Pirate Ship or USPS Click-N-Ship. To print the label, you can either
use a standard inkjet or laser printer or a special thermal label printer just
for printing shipping labels.

  4. How do you determine the price of your sets? I was thinking of targeting
the average price you see on the BrickLink market.

It depends how fast you want to sell. In general, the lower you price your sets,
the faster they will sell.

  5. How does one anticipate the rising or dropping of the price of sets?

It is rare for retired sets to go down in price. You can use BrickEconomy to
track the current market value of sets and see their predicted value. You can
also track the value using the Price Guide here on BrickLink.

  6. I also have the fronts and backs of the boxes for these sets, can I throw
those in as well?

Yes, you can include the box. Some buyers want it, but others don't because
it adds volume to the order and increases the shipping cost.

There are reasons a buyer can get a negative feedback: sometimes buyers place
orders and don't pay, for example. Admittedly there are reasons that aren't
always so good.

  2. What are some good resources for getting started at the level I'm on?

Ignore anything talking about becoming wealthy selling Lego on BrickLink or anywhere
else.

I don't really sell sets but it's going to depend on a number of factors:
for example, do you have the box? Then you have to put the box in a bigger box.

If you have a printer, definitely create a Pirate Ship account so you can take
advantage of commercial shipping rates.

Invest in a cheap postal scale.

The prospect of selling them is appealing, but there are a lot of hurdles to

This is totally coherent.

It serves a couple purposes. 1) It validates your address. 2) You see what the
buyer experiences.

If you buy and pay, you will likely get a positive feedback.

Look at sellers feedback left for others to learn if a seller even leaves feedback,
very FEW don't.

  2. What are some good resources for getting started at the level I'm on?

By diligent observance.

I am not sure I know what you're asking. Can you include the picture of the
box in the listings? Yes, with some guild lines.

If there's any other essential information I need to know, please let me
know.

Never stop learning. Some learning is inexpensive, and some is costly.

id double check the weight but normally used lego WITHOUT minifigures is about
$5 a pound so id check the weight and see what you are priced at compared to
the market average

Image appears if you click more.

Couldn’t really say on price, all down to the individual buyer.

Whether something is suspicious should be down to the seller, the one that actually
looses out if the buyer is a scammer. Remember sellers do not get to choose buyers.

And of course it could be monitored. I would not expect a seller to need to use
it very often.

Then maybe just adding a provision for these situations for feedback removal
would be simpler (especially to implement on BrickLink).

Cancel -» no feedback -» nothing to do.
Cancel -» negative -» bring up your suspicions to be evaluated for feedback removal.

If cancelling for suspicions already doesn’t happen often, a negative feedback
resulting from such a cancellation would happen at most as often

Indeed, it is one of those things that shouldn't really matter, but as we
know a lot of emphasis is placed on negative feedback. For a seller to go ahead
with an order because they feel pressured by feedback even if they feel it is
a scam seems wrong.

But yes, removal of feedback if you can show you had reasonable concerns (whether
that was intended by the buyer or not) then feedback removal would possibly
help.

Ah, un pouet.  Comme polésie, je préfère :

J’aime ma maman,
Elle est pas dans la marine
En ce moment. »

Well, that would only be for good sellers of course!
Because, you know, there’s good sellers and bad sellers.
And the difference is that, the bad seller, he has a shop.  And when he sees
a suspicious order, he cancels.  Every time.  Doesn’t fail.
While the good seller, well, he has a shop.  And when he sees a suspicious order,
well, he cancels, yeah, right away, every time, but that’s not the same!  Because
he’s a good seller!
People need to know the difference between good and bad sellers.

That's clear!

Do you have family in the Bouchonnois too?

And I can see now the difference between a selling seller and a non selling seller.

I’m a non-selling non-seller!

Alert!

Does anyone know what this is? I believe it to be some kind of Bionicle part

When I first found it, it had Zamor spheres in it, hence why I think it is a
Bionicle part. I am wondering if it is maybe storage for extra spheres? If it
is not lego, does anyone have an idea where it came from - like could it be Megabloks?
