There are precious few fields that can be considered a primary key. Part numbers
can (and do) change, people's login name can (and do) change. There is no
way for us mere mortals to access the actual primary key info for these entities.

If you are considering keeping things like parts history, be prepared to either
set up some links from old part IDs to new part IDs, or update your old data
with new IDs (finding out what the new part ID is when you only have the old
part ID is fun - what is the new part ID of "372"? - most times, the
old ID is kept as an alternative on the site, so you can search for it, but not
from the API). Some parts keep flip-flopping IDs (like 6093/x104, 41669/x346
etc).

Some things that do stay the same are order numbers, color IDs, lot IDs.

Enjoy!

Niek.

Out of curiousity, I downloaded the codes mapping xml file. I guess element IDs
are only assigned to parts. I did find six minifigs in that download, but the
first one I checked was previously a PART.
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReqList.asp?itemID=147947

So I guess element IDs may only be useful for the parts type in the catalog.
Other catalog types need some other mechanism to track changes. With no changelog
endpoint or key in the item resource, I guess this will be fun to implement.

One thought I just had was that there is no guarantee that the underlying data
is stable within the various catalog related resources.

An obvious example is assignment of part numbers. Clearly, they may change over
time. When they do, are new element ids assigned or would the element id be a
reliable way to ensure data integrity?

Would it be wise to preserve the old part numbers in some way either with a soft
delete or some other kind of deprecation flag?

I think the same (or “I don’t think the same”? ).

I’d contact the Help Desk and try again a couple times, after 2-3 hours.  If
it eventually works, good, but that shouldn’t prevent them to investigate.

LOL. Not the first error I've found in the docs. Thanks for the quick response.

I've reported this, but no luck yet. There are more missing fields, incorrect
field types ed. Hopefully they get time someday to fix that.

Narrator: They will not.

BTW, Bricklink I would gladly help keep the API documentation Up-To-Date.

Same, I work with the API daily and wouldn't mind submitting or editing the
issues I find. Win-win for everyone.

Submit your findings to apisupport@bricklink.com and Russell states, in time,
they will probably, maybe, get fixed.

With the description he gave of the different "channels" I'm beginning
to think comic guy is correct in illustrating the BL IT having figurative trash
cans in their heads.

I don't know why I expect a subsidiary of a multi billion dollar company
to have a more coherent information system strategy. It's like they don't
want seller's to have the tools to make Bricklink money. SMH

Other than some unit tests, the only outstanding issue is working with the member
notes endpoint as documented at https://www.bricklink.com/v3/api.page?page=get-member-note

Get, create, update all give me 'INVALID_URI` I've checked to ensure
I'm using the link as documented.

e.g.

https://api.bricklink.com/api/store/v1/members/deaddrop/notes

I randomly tried member and note in the URI in case there was a typo in the docs
but same error. Get rating works fine and looks similar

https://api.bricklink.com/api/store/v1/members/deaddrop/ratings

I know my code is generally good because every other endpoint works which demonstrates
the requests are being generated properly.

Has anyone successfully used this?

I have it working, the documentation is wrong it should be members/deaddrop/my_notes

Order has 102 lots, deleted all of them from the invoice and the problem was
"Solved".
Tested several more, with deleting the last 10, 20 and 30 lots.
With less or equal than 70 lots the problem was "solved".
So is it a treshold, or could there be something wrong with a lot "description"!?

Looks to me, it is the same problem as addressed in Message 1394101 on Feb 16.
So could you please fix it (again)?

I just tried and can send invoices fine. Try to add a 0.01 as a credit and submit
changes, then again to remove it and try to invoice again.

I've tried you suggestion, even with severall different "Order Status"

What payment method has that order? Does the information in your invoice comment

orders up to zero, but the payment fails, the items will be returned to the warehouse
in 2x more quantity. In the last six months, I registered it for about 4 orders,
one of which had more than 200 lots :-/

To me it happened only the other way around, 2 or 3 orders got items subtracted
twice, some items being left as -X in stockrom if clearing the lot.

I do log all changes to my inventory and didn't notice what you describe
as of now.

Thank you for the answer, have you encountered the fact that the order was then
put back in stock twice when the payment was not completed? Sometimes it happens

If you just have your store only use two decimal places, you won't run into
rounding errors. Rounding takes place in different location depending on the
applications. Sometime this is before addition and sometimes after which is
likely to cause problems when multiple systems are involved.

Looks to me, it is the same problem as addressed in Message 1394101 on Feb 16.
So could you please fix it (again)?

I just tried and can send invoices fine. Try to add a 0.01 as a credit and submit

I've tried you suggestion, even with severall different "Order Status"

What payment method has that order? Does the information in your invoice comment
has links or email address? Does the order have Sales Tax?

It doesn't look like a rounding error to me - the sum is taken after
rounding on the order page(s), while the XML gives the sum without rounding.
I think the way the XML does it is not quite right - if you display e.g. additional
charges rounded, then those charges should be applied/summed rounded as well.

Now I think it is not rounding error exactly, just the way total is calculated,
the rounding is done good for 23,4048 to 23,40, but that is not what is used
everywhere else, the total in the other places is a sum of the already rounded
values which shows:

13,74 + 0,17 + 9,5 = 23,41...

9.01 - 33.00

I expected that this shipping option wouldn't be available for the buyer
and an other of my shipping methodes would be choosen.

Is this normal behaviour or an error?

I've done some testing. I've used:
2 x 824 Train Base 4 x 7 with Wheels Holder
7 x 737ac02 Plate, Modified 2 x 4 with Train Coupler Open for Magnet with Blue
Magnet Coupling, Train - 6.5mm Cylinder (737a / x547b)
Total weight 47,85 gramm.

By the shipping options the right shipping option is chosen initially, but the
buyer can select the shipping option with a weight band of 9.01 - 33 gramm.

Why does that happen?

Because the possiblity to add a colour was added to the spaghetti code and not
everything was tested.

The code for the macro takes the ID and creates links to the item’s pages.
— For the image, the “,150” that specifies “in Medium Nougat” is removed.
— For the link, the “,150” is transformed into “ampersand C=150” (parameter to
the URL).
— For inventories, nothing is done.  So the coloured macro leads to the inventory
for part “64452pb01c01,150” which of course doesn’t exist.

On the order page. All Items have a weight on the order page the total weight
is 84,6 gramm (instead of 86 gramm, but still more than the specified weight
bands).

Hi,

did anyone got TIMESTAMP_REUSED authentication errors?

Example: {"meta":{"description":"TIMESTAMP_REUSED: consumerKey:
XXXXXXXXXX timestamp: 1682887142 nonce: 1683475737654","message":"BAD_OAUTH_REQUEST","code":401}}

I'm getting these very regularly especially when doing price guide requests
or adding items to inventory.

It also seems to happen more often at certain times. It seems like, it happens
for more costly operations and probably at peak times.

I'm using the jave code provided on the API Guide (https://www.bricklink.com/v3/api.page?page=auth),
the BLAuthSigner class.

I have to admit that I'm no OAuth expert and I'm just starting looking
into it in more detail. But even getting a "TIMESTAMP_REUSED" error seems
odd to me. Using the same timestamp should be allowed as long as I'm using
a different nonce. Otherwise, I'd only be able to do one request per second.

What's even more hinting to a Bricklink error is that my inventory gets updated
even though, I get this authentication error back. If authentication really fails,
my inventory shouldn't update.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers, Hannes

Hi,

Check your other lists.  You can’t edit ANY list if ONE of them has a problem.

And that kind of problems happens when parts are merged in the catalogue.  Did
you happen to have test parts in one of them?  (See https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=339040
)

Ah, didn't realize if one had a problem they all did. I have been adding
new lists, I'll check those. Thanks very much!

or vice versa. I keep getting a message saying I've got more than one of
the same colour of a part on my list, which I haven't. Was working Ok yesterday.
Maybe a glitch?
Cheers

If a seller accidentally marks is as completed they can’t change isn’t back.
Only the buyer can change it. Just the other day I accidentally marked an order
as completed instead of shipped and had to message the buyer to ask them to change
it back

It updates if the buyer adds and does not pay yet.

It doesn't update if the buyer pays and adds to the order at the same time.

It is annoying.

The seller most likely changed the order to complete.

You could contact the seller, ask them to change the order back to shipped so
you can change it to received. Then you can discuss the missing pieces from your
order.

If you do not get any reply from the seller in 3 days, file as NSS.

I would also put in a ticket at the help desk as suggested in a previous post.

This should not be the case, but the seller has the ability to set the order
to Completed. If you do it yourself, there is a brief window in which you can
change it.

The way to keep this from happening is to set the order status to Received. The
seller can't change it if you do that.

I would submit a Help Desk ticket with the order number, maybe one of the admins
can change the order status.

Hi,

There’s been a few similar threads here and it was due to the cookies banner
not appearing and blocking the loading / complete usage of the page.

So, can you check this page: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/cookies.page , make
your choices (Preference cookies is a must for auto-login/keep-me-logged, the
others aren’t), and validate?

Many thanks - that has indeed solved the issue for me, thank you very much for
the assistance

Also, which pages?

This weekend Ill give it a try If the issue hasn't resolved itself,
as said it looks like it worked temporarily this morning since I got an order
via offsite payment.

I think I forgot to take that into account.  Check the items: maybe they didn’t
fit in the conditions for the shipping methods (no dimension/weight or something
like that).

I have tested a bit with my brothers account. Can't find anything that differs
and I have only a few restrictions, like max parts value on one of the methods.
The other shipping method is only max 2 kgs nothing else. And its not the shipping
methods its complaining about but as you say they might be connected somehow.

And orders have gone through occasionally.

I'll take it into consideration when I have time to redo it.

Hope to get back soon with a found error or something else..

Thanks /David

Do you have Seller protection enabled? With that checkbook ticjed new members
can only checkout wit PayPal Onsite.

Hello and thank you you are correct. Sorry for the late answer but Ive been busy.

I unticked the box and now it works as I want it to. I have instant checkout
on all shipping methods.

Thanks again!!

Hello Jennifer and Sylvain. Thanks for answer.

Correct, no VAT is collected, domestic Sweden.

I have 2 shipping domestic options and both gives the same result.

But thanks for your tip I will try to delete and remake shipping and payment
templates. Don't have the time right now and its at least working with PayPal
onsite. This weekend Ill give it a try If the issue hasn't resolved itself,

  Hello.

I have had the store closed for a while and opened up recently.

And I discovered that onsite payment was not mandatory anymore so for domestic
I chose only an offsite payment method.

However it is not working anymore for me. I got a couple of domestic orders with
the offsite payment and suddenly a buyer contacted me and apparently checkout
was not possible anymore "Store has no payment option". This was last
week. I added PayPal onsite then so the buyer could checkout.

Offsite payment methods is available to choose for me in store settings but they
don't show up to the buyer. However this morning it popped in a domestic
order which had the offsite payment opted. When I give the checkout a look right
now offsite is not available for domestic in checkout. So it worked temporarily
this morning.

I contacted BL service last week but I guess it can take a while before they
answer. Any knowledge in this issue?

Regards, David.

The 'Seller does not support shipping...' message occurs when that seller
does not have an Onsite payment method enabled so that BrickLink may collect
the appropriate VAT or taxes.

This is a separate issue from a store offering shipping to your country.

Since sellers have no way to know about this if they haven't kept up with
the tax changes, your best bet is to write and let them know.

~Jen

Again Jen: BL doesn’t collect VAT inside EU (EEA).  Both the Netherlands and
Germany are in EU

More: Even when a seller is outside EU, “ships to” EU but does not offer an Onsite
payment method for EU buyers, the store’s banner will say “Ships to Me.”
But, as BL only collects import VAT for orders below €150, it’s the message in
the yellow box that will reflect that: instead of “Seller does not support orders
shipping to France/…”, it will say something to the effect of “the seller can’t
ship orders under €150.”

And as the second pic shows, the banner does say “doesn’t ship” (does
that for me too) and this seller says in their terms they don’t ship to EU countries.

So something else is wrong here.

No. But I did get a new ISP a couple of days ago and currently have two as I

Ah ha! Adding the color element and removing the sub-condition one appears to
have worked. I did receive an "Ajax Error" message at the end, but the
data was still loaded. FYI I also removed line breaks.

As an aside, when data is exported from the collection; I noticed that the color

— there’s no subcondition for minifigs,
— maybe add a color tag (should default to 0 = Not Applicable, which is what
you want for minifigs).

Also, be sure you’re using the My Minifigures tab.

Hello,
I am attempting to importing my minifig collection from brickset to bricklink.
The csv file exported from brickset was not recognized so I converted the data
to an XML which should be compatible with bricklink. Here is an example of my
output:

Msw0001aUC1
Msw0001bUC1

I am receiving errors that the item ids cannot be found. The ids are clearly
there, so this error appears to be just a generic response. I'm guessing
that there is something wrong with my XML file, but it appears to align with
the current documentation. Can someone point out where I am going wrong?

Thanks!
Bill

Figured it out. Had a duplicated part in another list. On the Wanted List screen
the error was in red, and within the list the problem part. Once I removed it
and saved, the rest of the lists started working again.

In Technical Issues, ndargus writes:
Have not had an issue before with capability this. Have 4 orders to be applied,
but when I click the green button to apply, nothing happens. Tried multiple
PCs and even my cell. Searched the forum but did not find any details. Would
anyone know why this is not working for me?
