In case you missed it, BrickLink and the LEGO Group are celebrating 60 years of the LEGO brick with the AFOL community by realizing unique designs with truly original themes. We received over 400 submissions, and 16 finalists were chosen from 9 different countries. Starting today, you can pre-order designs from the AFOL Designer Program to help bring some incredibly creative designs to the market in a way never before possible.

How does crowdfunding work?

During this phase, you can pre-order your favorite designs to help them reach 100% funding. Once successfully funded, the design is packaged with instructions to become a limited edition 60 Years Anniversary set exclusively available on BrickLink. You may pre-order a maximum of 3 per design, and you also receive FREE SHIPPING. Free shipping applies to both domestic and international buyers and is available for pre-orders only.

Not sure or not ready to pre-order? Simply click on the bookmark icon ( ) and we’ll send you a reminder before pre-orders close.

What’s next?

If the design you backed is successfully funded, your payment method will be charged the full amount after April 15, 2019. If the design is not successfully funded, you will not be charged. We will begin shipping orders in May 2019.

To see all the finalists, visit the Crowd Project page.

Thank you,

The BrickLink Team

It feels like we only just announced the news of our collaboration with the LEGO Group, but here we are, with the submission phase of the AFOL Designer Program officially over. Thank you for your passion and commitment in creating unique designs with truly original themes! We are just blown away by all the entries we’ve received. We will be sharing fun tidbits from behind-the-scenes as we begin the selection process.

What happens during the design selection process?

The AFOL Designer Program team will hold an initial review for all submitted AFOL designs. Each submission that passes the initial review will undergo a feasibility test.  We will then make final selections before onboarding designers. You can view the current status of the design selection process on the AFOL Designer Program landing page.

When does crowdfunding begin?

We will announce selected AFOL designs before crowdfunding officially begins February 2019 so that you have a chance to think about which designs you want to support. Successfully crowdfunded designs will become a limited edition 60 Years Anniversary set exclusively available on BrickLink. More details about how crowdfunding works will be announced as the date gets closer.

Whether you submitted a design, participated in discussions surrounding the program, or are just plain excited about what’s to come, we thank you! We are honored to have your continued support and can’t wait to share our selections.

Happy Holidays!

After we posted a teaser about the AFOL Designer Program, we closely monitored the conversation surrounding it. It was fun to read what you all thought this program would be. So what is it exactly? In case you missed it, BrickLink and the LEGO Group are celebrating 60 years of the LEGO® brick with the AFOL community by realizing unique designs with truly original themes. Through this program, your design can become a limited edition 60 Years Anniversary set!

How does the AFOL Designer Program work?

The program will have three main phases:

1. Accepting entries - To give you some time to think about what you’d like to design, we will begin accepting entries on September 18th until November 18th. Your designs will not be displayed publicly during this time. The LEGO design team will review your submissions made with Studio 2.0, and up to 20 finalists will be selected.
2. Crowdfunding - Selected designs will be announced and displayed for crowdfunding beginning February 2019. You will be able to pre-order designs at this time.
3. Release - Successfully crowdfunded designs will become a limited edition 60 Years Anniversary set exclusively available on BrickLink. We will begin shipping orders April 2019.

Why should I submit my designs?

Besides being able to share your designs with the AFOL community, designs that are selected for realization will also be reviewed and produced as limited edition box sets. On top of that, BrickLink will pay 10% of total sales revenue to designers for all successfully crowdfunded AFOL designs including pre-order. You will retain full IP rights for non-selected designs, meaning you can freely use your original designs for any other purpose after the event.

Even if you aren’t a designer, we’d still love everyone to get involved! You can share your design ideas with the AFOL community in the Studio 2.0 forum.

Ready to get started?

The AFOL Designer Program requires that your designs are submitted with Studio 2.0, which has improved functionality and new features for this program (new features will be available Sep 18th). A building palette made specifically for the AFOL Designer Program will be included so that you are able to focus more on the design itself. Next, check if your design is stable with the all-new stability check because we want to fall for designs, not have them fall apart. Then you can export breathtaking images and even create building instructions for your designs!

Go here for more details about design requirements or FAQs, or go here to download or learn more about Studio 2.0.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Thank you,

BrickLink Team

Today is such an exciting day at the BrickLink office because we finally get to reveal a very special collaboration with none other than the LEGO Group. We’ve been bursting at the seams because of how long we’ve had to keep this program a secret! Now that we’ve all had a minute to scream and catch our breaths, let’s get into the details.

What is the AFOL Designer Program?

This program celebrates creativity by realizing unique AFOL designs with truly original themes. What better timing than to kick it off in the year of the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick? For a limited time, BrickLink will be hosting the AFOL Designer Program. We are honored to help highlight your creativity and help make your designs a reality.

Where can I get more information?

An official announcement and more details about the program will be revealed Wednesday, September 12th. Mark your calendars!

Dear BrickLink sellers,

We know that selling on BrickLink is a unique experience, one which is unmatched by any other marketplace platform. We've heard that many of you are tired of sending invoices, worrying about non-paying buyers, and dealing with cancellation requests. We've listened to your feedback and have been diligently working on a solution to these common seller woes. After a considerable amount of time and effort put in from the team, we are pleased to finally announce that the long-awaited preview of Instant Checkout will premiere by the end of this month.

You may wonder why it took so much time for BrickLink to implement such a basic e-commerce feature. It’s simply because BrickLink is not like any standard e-commerce site. Despite its many drawbacks and inconveniences, worldwide BrickLink sellers have fully stretched out the flexibility of manual invoicing to provide unique perks and negotiable offers for their buyers. As a result, each store comes with unique policies for shipping and handling fee calculations. For example, some stores offer special discounts for qualified orders, some apply conditional insurance to a certain type of packages, etc. We had to read through and analyze thousands of written policies to figure out the most common practices. A dedicated team has been working on this top-priority project for years to make sure our new tool could automate the majority of them in a systematic way.

This newsletter answers many questions you might have for the Instant Checkout feature. We hope your store will participate in this streamlined shopping experience and order management process soon.

What is Instant Checkout?

It’s a combination of a new automated invoicing option and on-site payment methods such as PayPal or Stripe. With automated invoicing, buyers can view the final order price during checkout and make direct payment using on-site payment methods.

Why do I need to switch to Instant Checkout?

In some countries including Germany, E-commerce sites are required to show the final order price to buyers before they are obligated to pay. Instant Checkout is compliant with German E-commerce law and will make your business fully legitimate in any country. In addition, it will help the growth of your business as your store will be more frequently exposed to buyers when a new option to filter stores that support Instant Checkout is introduced to the BrickLink Catalog and Wanted List.

Can I automate the invoicing process without accepting onsite payments?

Yes, you can automate the invoicing process without accepting onsite payments; you’ll just need to set up automation-ready shipping methods. If your buyer chooses one of those shipping methods, they will see the final price during checkout and get an invoice as soon as they place an order.

Can I keep using manual invoicing instead of Instant Checkout?

Of course you can. Instant Checkout is an optional feature for sellers to participate in. If you don’t make any changes to your shipping settings, you can keep using your current manual invoicing methods. For those manual shipping methods, you have the option to enable the price quote feature.

How can I set up Instant Checkout?

If your store already accepts at least one onsite payment method, all you need to do is to set up automation-ready shipping methods to enable Instant Checkout. There are three ways to complete this step:

1. Migration of existing shipping methods

Your existing shipping methods with rate charts will be migrated to the new system along with other settings including insurance and handling fees. You can turn on the automated invoicing option for these methods to enable Instant Checkout.

2. Importing shared shipping methods

Sellers can share automation-ready shipping methods with other sellers in their country. You can review and import any shared shipping methods and customize them as you’d like.

3. Manual setup

In case your shipping policies are described only in your written store/shipping policies, they will not be automatically migrated to the new shipping settings. For that case, you can create a new shipping method or edit existing ones to fill in a predefined rate chart. You may also need to configure additional options and restrictions to match your written shipping policies.

How does it calculate shipping cost?

Shipping cost is determined by the predefined rate chart of each shipping method. Three different types of rate chart are supported:

  * Weight band: shipping cost is determined by the total item weight and destination zone
  * Price band: shipping cost is determined by the total item price and destination zone
  * Flat rate: A flat shipping rate will be applied per each destination zone

Each zone contains a list of countries which sellers can customize.

What are the additional options and restrictions I can configure for automation?

Additional options and restrictions can be configured by adding customizable rules.

Discount options

If you want to waive a portion or the full shipping cost for orders over a certain amount, you can add shipping discount rules.

Insurance options

Insurance options can be added for a zone or multiple zones with or without additional fees. You can set up your own flexible insurance policies with a combination of item price range and buyer/seller requests.

Tracking options

Sellers may also add tracking options with or without additional fees based on the item price, shipping fee, total weight, or when an order is insured.

Handling fees

Handling fees can be added based on the item price, per lot average value, or by a fixed price or rate.

Package restrictions

Since each shipping method has different package restrictions, sellers can configure the max package weight, dimension, length, volume, or girth to match each courier’s shipping methods.

How can buyers keep their orders open for multiple order batches with Instant Checkout?

Paid orders cannot be combined into order batches. To allow batch orders, you need to set up a manually-invoiced shipping method (i.e. ‘Keep orders open’). Once a buyer is ready to check out, they can choose an Instant Checkout shipping method and the total price will be calculated based on all of the unpaid orders.

Instead of listing multiple shipping methods for buyers, my store always picks the most affordable method for them. Can I still have that option with Instant Checkout?

If you don’t want your buyers to choose from a list of shipping methods, you can use the ‘Grouping’ feature. When multiple shipping methods are combined into a group, only the cheapest method within that group will be shown to buyers during checkout.

How can I manage orders received with Instant Checkout?

There is no additional action required to manage Instant Checkout orders. All Instant Checkout orders are received in ‘Paid’ status - you just need to pack and ship them.

When will this be available?

A seller preview of Instant Checkout will begin on June 21st, 2017. Sellers will be able to access new shipping method settings and experience the Instant Checkout shopping experience in their own stores. The public release schedule for Instant Checkout will be announced during the preview session.

If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to leave a comment on this post.

Thanks,
BrickLink Instant Checkout Team

Dear BrickLink Sellers,

Mosaick's beta release is just around the corner! As we make the finishing touches on this awesome new tool, we want to share with you exactly what this feature is and how you can prepare for it's release.

What is Mosaick?
Mosaick is our brand new tool which enables the average AFOL or amateur designer to turn any image into a digital LEGO mosaic. Users can adjust settings like resolution & size to meet their individual preference and price constraints, then source the parts right on BrickLink! Designing and purchasing your own LEGO mosaic has never been easier.

Why is this important to me as a seller?
We expect Mosaick to bring in a host of new users to the community. Since we've made purchasing the parts for mosaics so simple, we expect sales to significantly increase (for typical mosaic pieces in particular). We want to make sure you are stocked up and ready for the release. With our combined effort, we expect this tool to be a great success!

Sounds great! When will this tool become available?
Open Beta release is currently scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2017. We will be premiering Mosaick to the public at the BrickWorld 2017 Convention in Chicago, Illinois. We're less than a month away, which is why stocking up on baseplates, plates, and tiles is super important right now!

What are the plate dimensions needed?
The following are the dimensions of the plates that are needed for the Mosaick creations in all colors:

1 x 1 1 x 2 1 x 3 1 x 6 1 x 8 1 x 10 1 x 12
2 x 2 2 x 3 2 x 4 2 x 6 2 x 8 2 x 10 2 x 12 2 x 14 2 x 16
3 x 3
4 x 4 4 x 6 4 x 8 4 x 10 4 x 12
6 x 6 6 x 8 6 x 10 6 x 12 6 x 14 6 x 16 6 x 24
8 x 8 8 x 11 8 x 16

What are the tile dimensions needed?
The following are the dimensions of the tiles that are needed for the Mosaick creations in all colors:

1 x 1 1 x 2 1 x 3 1 x 4 1 x 6 1 x 8
2 x 2 2 x 4
6 x 6
8 x 16

What are the baseplate dimensions needed?

The following are the baseplates that are needed for the Mosaick creations:

48 x 48 baseplate
32 x 32 baseplate
16 x 16 baseplate

Since the color of the baseplate is not important for these mosaics, our algorithms will always recommend the lowest priced baseplate(s) in the result.

Is there anything else I should know?
We'll keep you updated with any important information in the next few weeks. For now, you can ask questions and discuss Mosaick on its official forum topic.
We appreciate you using BrickLink to host your LEGO business and look forward to a fun and successful summer together.

We are happy to announce Easy Buy, a convenient new shopping tool for BrickLink buyers. It automatically fills carts so that you can purchase all of the items in a Stud.io Creation or Wanted List with just a few clicks. It finds a practical and optimal combination of BrickLink stores by comparing item prices and estimated shipping fees to minimize the total price of orders.

You may achieve the same results with the Wanted List Auto-Finder feature, but Easy Buy allows you to jump directly to the final step of the store finding process by skipping all the extra options to choose stores.

Using Easy Buy

You can use Easy Buy to purchase Stud.io Creations shared in the Build Gallery.

Just click [Easy Buy] button on any Gallery Creation and wait until it finds an optimal store combination. If you’re satisfied with the result, you can create all of the carts with just one click.

Easy Buy is also available for your Wanted List. Click the [Easy Buy] button next to each Wanted List from the Wanted List overview page to add all of the items in the Wanted List to store carts.

We hope this new tool will help you save your time and discover great local stores that can fulfill your orders.

Thanks,
BrickLink Team

The story behind your store can be just as fun as the LEGO that you sell. We’re launching a new program for ANY BrickLink seller to show and tell what goes on behind-the-scenes at their BrickLink store. We’re constantly fascinated by people’s stories, whether they grew up playing with LEGO or had a calling later in life. We’re also amazed by people’s experiences with LEGO, whether they primarily build or collect and sell on the side, or run a BrickLink business full-time.

No matter where you come from or how big your store is, don’t be afraid to share your story! All you need to do is write about a topic that relates to your BrickLink experience, whether it’s about your store or about a project where BrickLink played a part. In fact, we’re looking for a wide range of stories that contain one or more of the following topics:

- Inside look at your BrickLink space
- Tips for running a BrickLink store
- About your LEGO hobby

As a start, we will select 10 stories that the BrickLink community would find most interesting - the stories where members will be able to get to know you or gain another perspective of your store. Be sure to include enough information and photos to make your story memorable to BrickLink visitors and shoppers.

To submit your story, click here. If your story is selected by BrickLink staff, our editors will work with you to polish your article and prepare for your seller spotlight. Your spotlight will include a full-page story that links to your store (view example) and a dedicated top banner on the BrickLink homepage. All form submitters can expect to hear back within 1-2 weeks after submission.

If you have any questions, email us at media@bricklink.com. We look forward to hearing your stories and featuring as many sellers as possible!

Submit my story

Happy writing,
The BrickLink Team

  Hey there,

I just wanted to let you know my sales are decreased extremely since the "big
update".
The loss will be about dollar thousands monthly. (Will see the monthly fee at
the end of month.) I spoke with other sellers in Hungary and they think/feel
the same.
I would say you pull that money out of my pocket with your thoughtless update.

Final thought: "What is working good, no need to repair"

Today, we gladly announce the launch of the new storefront project.
It’s not just about a modernized look.
The team has been focusing on improving the shopping experience without changing the uniqueness of BrickLink.
It also is a stepping stone of upcoming changes. Here are three main points we want to highlight:

Upgraded Store Landing Page

The Store landing page is the face of each store, and each seller has a different idea of what it should look like.
To give more control to the seller, you can curate items as you wish.
For example, in the Shop tab, you can choose items you want to promote and show them to buyers upon entering store.
You can even designate which tab, Shop, Terms or Splash, will be the landing page of your store among.

Enhanced Search

As one of the most important features, Search also received some updates.
Before, you had to exit the item page to use search filters in a store.
It wasn’t easy to keep narrowing down a search result.
We wanted to make this easy.
Now, all filters will stay in the left panel so it can be applied to Items and Wanted List items in a store.

New Feedback Design

Previously, buyer and seller feedback were mixed in one page.
However, store feedback is totally different from user feedback, so we separated them into new Store Feedback and User Feedback (current feedback page).
In the new Store Feedback page, Buyers can check recent 6 months and lifetime feedback of a store.
Infographic stats of recent 6 months feedback can help buyers better understand a store at a glance.
You can view each type of feedback by selecting the Praise, Negative, or Neutral tab as well.

What’s Next?

After polishing the Storefront, the team will focus on improving seller tools, such as Inventory management.
We will first work on Store Settings so that sellers will have better control over their stores.
The project will kick off with a New Skin and Inventory Dashboard.

Same here, orders have really decreased, dont know if its all due to this upgrade
or if its just a slow season though.

#GIVEBACKOLDBRICKLINK

Good morning

There are an awful lot of people who use this site who support your views, but
unfortunately Bricklink have made up their minds as to what they are doing and
where they are going with the site. It takes more than getting used to to understand
all the 'new' features (those that work properly or have been fixed to
work. A very large number of stores have reflected a rather dramatic fall in
sales since the impact of the change and we have had comments from buyers who
are both confused and dismayed by what has taken place.

Having said that, it does appear that we are stuck with it, if we wish to continue
with Bricklink.

The way the site looks is definitely down to personal taste - we share your views
- some others do not and on a forum like this that is probably as normal as can
be.

The proof of the effect the changes have made is in the 'eating' so to
speak and we have now had two consecutive months at significantly lower activity/order
levels than what was expected (and very much against the historical data for
our shop). This was reflected in the fees that we paid Bricklink for June and
will be the same for July (unless there is a dramatic change over the last remaining
days).

You are definitely not alone or isolated - despite some of the comments you see
here.

That's something that I believe will be corrected. I don't see how *not*

Everything was maybe perfect for you, but not for others. That is not to say
this new incarnation is perfect, but at least there is some movement in the site
development.

Today, we gladly announce the launch of the new storefront project.
It’s not just about a modernized look.
The team has been focusing on improving the shopping experience without changing the uniqueness of BrickLink.
It also is a stepping stone of upcoming changes. Here are three main points we want to highlight:

Why?!

Since the update until two days ago I was unable to log in to Bricklink, was
given 413 error page constantly, and when I finally was able to log in it was
the worst thing I ever saw.
The Bricklink user-friendly ,lego-related design was destroyed . Now it
looks like a website for kids - sliding images , fancy design; It doesn't
looks like a website that is reliable , it looks like an ad
You even changed the logo , something that was the most iconic thing of
all this website!
With the previous version I NEVER had any problems, no errors , EVERYTHING
was perfect!!!

If I need 100 of a part and I don't want to pay more than €0.15 per part
then I don't want to see any stores that have less than 100 of that part.
When I visit a store I want to see what they have that meets the requirements
on my wanted list. Until yesterday I could do that, now it just shows all parts
from my wanted list, whatever the quantity the shop has and whatever the price.

I suppose, its exactly why its not made.
As most users buy a whole bunch of differnt parts to complete their mocs,
that option is very helpful.
Now you can take 5 at 20 cent in your first order, 80 at 10 cent in your 2nd
order
and 15 at 30 cent in your third and last order.
The overall prices of this should not be much away from yours.
In the past, you had to do a fourth or fifth order, because all this parts you
wanted a hundred of, where NOT shown before, because you just wanted to see them
at all if there are 100+.
This was the example of a stupid idea.

Who cares how easy it is to add parts to my wanted list if it's painful to
then buy the parts on that list?

Many many people do, and most buyers feel its to complicated any way, so you
have to use a baby like approach to them.

The old much appreciated WL was just used by 15-20% of the users !
For the other 80-85% who neglected it because of complexity, that change had
to be made
to give newbies or not die-hard-afols a useful and comofortable shopping expirence.

Please stop thinking, all the LEGO world just centers around diehard-Afols.
Somewhere i heard, they(we) are 5% Share of legos turnover.
(maybe someone can confirm or correct?)
