I added about half of them and still haven't gotten around to the other half.
Honestly, since you have the items there in front of you it might be better
if you added them to the catalog yourself. You have more knowledge of these
older items than I do and you can add weights, dimensions, years, etc. whereas
I cannot.
To RobErNat:
There is no compensation that I am able to offer for inventories. As for what
BrickLink offers, you already know what that is and I don't believe it will
change in the immediate future.
As for people being less proactive on submitting inventories, it's hard to
say with any degree of certainty. We're definitely doing pretty well with
this year's sets (659 sets released so far in 2018 and about 91% have been
inventoried). However, at least 236 of this year's sets (just over a third
of them) were inventoried by BL employees or volunteers.
Historically, that seems fairly normal. BrickLink staff have always supplied
a high number of inventories going back to when the site was first launched.
If you look at the credits for sets inventoried, 6 of the top 10 contributors
are (or were) BrickLink staff members.
To mfav:
I believe that you're saying the part assembly shown in your photo should
be included in the catalog? You're welcome to submit it and see what happens.
There are still no rules on what will or won't be accepted when it comes
to part assemblies.

Which includes 'items marked for deletion'
It will be hard to get those inventoried
Granted, only a few among those 410
I might be wrong, but I'm sensing people seem to be less pro active on submitting
inventories, maybe the current 'offer' ain't good enough
For instance, I notice a lot of 'Lego brand Store' kits are uninventoried,
I got a few (like 'several' from that list, but hey, they will drop
value if I start on them, any specific compensation you're able to offer?

Perhaps you could investigate the situation of how this part came in sets? Look
for sealed contents (photo or video) of some of the nine sets in which the assembly
appeared. I checked the instructions for one of the sets just now and it did
not show the part being assembled (meaning it probably came assembled for that
set).
Let us know what you find out. If you can verify that it came assembled in two
or three of the nine sets, then I think we could be confident it came assembled
in all of them and correct them all.

This assembly is only in counterparts of set inventories, and (very annoying

out of 2014+ era sets is not the same shade. And yet there is no counterpart
(nor should there be, 100% of the sets are showing BLO). Out of over 128 pieces
we have obtained from MISB sets, not a single one is proper Yellow. This seems
to be a problem, as every time we inventory a set, we have to address this discrepancy.
|
The color of those parts is not Bright Light Orange. They are a poorly dyed variation
of Yellow that approaches the color of Bright Light Orange. LEGO shows that this
part was always made in Yellow and not Bright Light Orange. The inventories here
should be corrected to make sure they are all listed as Yellow. Each seller can
then list that their supply of them is not the typical Yellow, but the darker
variation.

|
Since when does TLG's assessment of color factor in to the inventory status
on BrickLink? If that were the case DBG LBG and RB would not exist as colors.
|
Umm, every time? DBG, LBG, and RB (LEGO colors Dark Stone Grey, Medium Stone
Grey, and Reddish Brown respectively) are all considered different colors by
LEGO compared to their old counterparts (LEGO colors Dark Grey, Grey, and Earth
Orange). BrickLink also recognizes all of these six colors separately. I truly
don't understand what you are getting at here.
| I agree that what you're saying is the way it is, currently. What I do not
agree with is why. Why should every seller list their supply as not being typical
yellow, when that is the case 100% of the time (at least for 2014-2018 era sets
we have inventoried).
|
It was just a suggestion, since the case you describe is, in fact, *not* 100%
of the time.
| I made this post because I believe there should be a note on the part page to
address this. There are several sets which do supposedly include this part in
BLO, and so I would ask you, do those sets actually contain a part which is markedly
different than the Yellow ones we have pulled out of sets?
|
Your original post said nothing about adding a catalog note to the part. And
once again, the color is neither Bright Light Orange nor Yellow. Yes, it is markedly
different from Yellow, but a seller adding a note to their own supply of said
parts would have sufficed as a solution.
| As an aside, there are far more frivolous notations (as the notations present
with part 3626b, for example). It is my belief that the c-admins are unaware
of this issue, so I am bringing it to their attention. I highly doubt the ideal
solution is what you say it is.
|
Maybe not an ideal solution in your opinion, but a solution none-the-less. I
don't consider a catalog note any more ideal.

In my opinion it is neither color, certainly the 2853s seem to be between the
two (as previously mentioned, improperly dyed yellow). I have found one other
part so far that is similar, which are yellow technic axles. I think a note to
let shoppers know about the issue is necessary, since those looking to complete
older models will be in for a surprise.
Additionally, the 3 or so sets that have been inventoried with the part in BLO,
may be erroneous as whoever did that inventory may have interpreted the crankshaft
as being BLO when really it is neither yellow nor BLO. However it is the "soft"
matte plastic type, which tends to run a bit light in general, so I would be
more inclined to place it in the BLO category, and have listed it as such, until
I see evidence of a true BLO crankshaft.
But NONE of the 120+ crankshafts we have pulled are actually yellow, the only
yellow examples I have found were present in some early 1990s-era display models
we have collected.
|
Thought I would check on these parts from a new set I have been parting out and
the colour difference is quite noticeable. I wonder if a new colour should be
set up for this as I agree that buyers purchasing for older sets are going to
be confused.
The crank arms do have more of a matt finish but are definitely darker than the
yellow as are the piston heads.
(the 1x4 plate is BLO)

The color of those parts is not Bright Light Orange. They are a poorly dyed variation
of Yellow that approaches the color of Bright Light Orange. LEGO shows that this
part was always made in Yellow and not Bright Light Orange. The inventories here
should be corrected to make sure they are all listed as Yellow. Each seller can
then list that their supply of them is not the typical Yellow, but the darker
variation.

It has been documented. The set inventory has been updated with the changes

uncommon. There are over 100 known sets from as recently as last year which
have been redesigned for various reasons while the set was still in production.

Interesting looks like in all inventories where "99" MID is used in this new
inventory page is is change to "1" MID. Checked only few from this list
https://brickset.com/sets/list-18333 for example
The same sitation as you described it.

Only 4 part #4515 are needed to complete the build for this set. This set came
with optional stickers in case you have more than one and want to display them
together but have them be distinctive. I found the following at brickset;
"Take the battle to the Separatists with the Republic Attack Gunship! This heavily
armed and armored Clone Wars troop carrier can fly and land in any battlefield
or hostile terrain. Features include opening troop bay doors, removable command
station and healing chamber, positionable cannons, spy droids, flick missiles,
a speeder bike that deploys from the back, and multiple decals to create different
gunships for your army. But will even Obi-Wan Kenobi and Plo Koon be enough
to stop the sinister Asajj Ventress and her double Sith lightsabers? Includes
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Plo Koon, Asajj Ventress, Commander Cody and Clone Trooper minifigures!
Side troop bay doors open! Open the front side compartment to remove the command
station! The 2 cockpits in front and the 2 on the wings open! Features 8 positionable
flick-fire missiles on top and 2 rotating missiles in front! Back hatch opens
to deploy the speeder bike! Open the compartment on top to access the spy droids!
Measures 14" (36cm) long, 17" (43cm) wide and 7" (18cm) high"
If I were building this for myself I would get an extra pair of 4515's and
apply the extra stickers for easier storage.

Yes, strange, 4 plain slopes in the Regular section but 6 stickered slopes in
the Counterpart section.
The instructions say 4. But stickers just magically appear and p038 doesn’t
seem to be used.
I’d say you can choose which pair of stickers to apply on the front?

For now, they are handled with the special Alternate group 99:
— add the Match ID 99 to the Regular parts that change¹ or that you don’t have
in your version,
— add the parts that change¹ or that are only in your version as Alternate with
a Match ID of 99,
— add a note.
(¹ If it’s just the quantity of a part that changes, the part is both present
as Regular and Alternate with different quantities.)
E.g. Wall-E has two versions, the neck having been made more stable

3003old is an odd duck if you ask me. 3002old and 3001old do not have Inside
Supports mentioned in the name but they do exist with Inside Supports (at least
3001old does). 3003 however does not exist without Cross Supports, still they
created a 3003old as if it were somehow similar as 3002old and 3001old but it
is not. I have missed the creation of 3003old so there might be a perfectly valid
reason for it but imo so far it creates more confusion, as can be noted with
your question as example.
On the other hand, it is hardly doable to be complete on this matter. More differences
do exist and differences combinations as well. Where does it end?
Interesting to learn the answer too

Author: | StormChaser | Posted: | Sep 3, 2018 17:15 | Subject: | Sources for Set Inventories | Viewed: | 77 times | Topic: | Inventories | Status: | Open | |
| Since around February of this year we have been informally requiring that all
new inventories (meaning recent sets) be submitted from sealed set contents.
We believe this rule greatly reduces the error rate in inventories. If someone
has a brand new set in hand, then parts, part colors, part variants, and extras
can be more accurately determined.
The only concern was that the requirement would result in a reduction in inventories
being added. Fortunately, this has not occurred. There have been 580 sets released
so far this year and only 73 of those sets don't have inventories on BrickLink
(about 12.5%). We can always do better, but 87.5% of 2018 sets inventoried is
still pretty decent (especially considering what an improvement this is from
the past).
Therefore, we have decided to make this requirement a permanent rule for new
sets going forward. The way it works is this: if the set has been in the BrickLink
catalog less than one year, then the only source accepted for its inventory is
a sealed set. After that, any source is acceptable. You can see the new rule
here under the heading Source:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=199
The only problem with this rule are sets like this:
We may consider listing these sets as exceptions to the rule, but for now they
are covered.

Rebrickable, and Brick Owl.
All three sites have inventories for this set. The official part count of the
set is 255 parts. For each site, here are the number of parts they list in the
set as of right now:
Brickset: 248 parts
Brick Owl: 251 parts
Rebrickable: 248 parts
We make take longer on BrickLink, but when we're finished you'll have
an inventory which includes the correct number of parts.
| I think with the sales amount that past here,we should expect a little bit of
service.
|
You're right about that. I apologize that we still haven't achieved
the ability to have complete, accurate inventories available on the day the set
is released. When you require that new inventories be created from sealed set
contents (as we do now) and after that you have people like me double-checking
the work to ensure its accuracy, then there is unavoidable delay. Our goal is
to reduce that delay as much as possible.
I will say that the delay has gotten much better within the last year and we
hope to continue to improve.
| Please don't reply its a voluntary work that user are doing the inventory. It
should not be voluntary first of all. This site is doing money. With the number
of set that coming out every month ,i think somebody should be payed and doing
this full time.
|
I agree that people who take the time to add inventories to the website should
be compensated for their efforts in some way.
| I just resign myself to spend a hour to enter and verify that set with brickstock.
|
I've never used BrickStock, so I don't know how it works.
|
Thank you StormChaser, happy to see Admin are still around, but more improvement
has to come from this site.

I would say like every time a user is complaining of something here there always
someone who come back with poor argument.I was complaining of time it take to
valid inventory of a set and now your almost to tell me to go somewhere else
to sell.I don't known you,you are a seller and doesn't look like a admin
on that site.
If you do the inventory for free its your problem.Don't come here to complain
to me your doing it wrong because your doing it for free.
I invest a lot of money in my business every month and i give a really good service
to my customer but i expect the same from my providers. If you are in the process
of doing inventory for BL you should treat me like a customer and not telling
me to go sell somewhere else. That's call arrogance.
By the way BO is charging 2.5% but service is much better then here.Admin threat
you like a customer not like a competitor.Don't worry i already have a account
there.
For all the above answers, there is none from a real admin. That's the problem
on BL.
Nobody answer for anything on this site

Does anyone know?

PCC describes the code better. The first PCC's were literally a combination
of a 4-digit part code and a 2-digit color code. Some of those original PCC's
are still being used:
3024+02
3024+21
3024+23
3024+24
The new 7-digit codes aren't "smart" like that, but they do represent the
part in a specific color, as opposed to the 5-digit mold number. PCC is easier
to read and type, too.
|
Also, maybe nobody knew they were called Element IDs by LEGO back in those days.
In that case, BrickLink had to come up with something to call them.

I've cancelled the original inventory as I couldn't add the newly added
parts from the catalogue, and the newer inventory is now submitted for approval.
The descriptions are adequate I think, but hopefully someone can submit split
images for the yellow 'face' elements, as this will be better than the
ones supplied by LEGO.COM
If this can be approved, it will be great as this means I'll be able to part
out the 2 sets that I have.
Thanks!

Ok thanks for message, will check it in just a moment

I've also added the correct colour image for the Dark Azure 2x3x2 curved

Perfect Checked and approved. Thank you very much for submiting this invenotry.
So maybe you submit more in the future
|
I have to say, thank you for approving this quickly as those 2 sets had been
bugging me for a while since I bought them to plunder the 2x4 Blue plates!
I think it's possible that I'll be doing more Duplo sets as I've
decided to get out of doing USED duplo as I have loads of vehicle elements that
I can't shift, and with all of the other parts that I have, they are just
taking up so much space that I could use for the normal LEGO elements.
Another reason why I'm getting out of the USED Duplo, is that there are more
and more Chinese Clones turning up at the car boot sales, so it will be really
hard to garner a decent return...
So, it depends upon whether I manage to see NEW Duplo at reduced prices or not.
Thanks, once again for the speedy approval of that set.

Paul

of a 4-digit part code and a 2-digit color code. Some of those original PCC's
are still being used:
3024+02
3024+21
3024+23
3024+24
The new 7-digit codes aren't "smart" like that, but they do represent the
part in a specific color, as opposed to the 5-digit mold number. PCC is easier
to read and type, too.
|
I think the question was “Why ‘PCC’ and not ‘Element ID,’ TLG’s term?”
As TLG calls PCCs “Element ID”s, the mould number being a “Design ID.”
|
PCC is more descriptive of the code than "Element ID".

OK great
|
I've cancelled the original inventory as I couldn't add the newly added
parts from the catalogue, and the newer inventory is now submitted for approval.
The descriptions are adequate I think, but hopefully someone can submit split
images for the yellow 'face' elements, as this will be better than the
ones supplied by LEGO.COM
If this can be approved, it will be great as this means I'll be able to part
out the 2 sets that I have.
Thanks!

Ok thanks for message, will check it in just a moment
|
I've also added the correct colour image for the Dark Azure 2x3x2 curved
side brick, as it's a new colour for that part.
Cheers!

instead of the LEGO-Company term "element id."
Does anyone know?
