I found that the four 3005 light gray blocks in set 10698-1 that I got are unusually
light when compared to other blocks of supposedly the same color. The manual
lists these as the same as the other bricks in the set, but this is not the case.
In the photo I have attached, the window piece also came with the set. I have
attached other bricks for comparison as well.

I am not sure if this is intentional or a color error at the manufacturing plant,
but these bricks are lighter than the standard light blue gray.

This brick sells for $5 a piece for some reason in the color very light blue
gray. The current set inventory on here does not reflect the lighter color.

It's just a slight color variation within light gray. Very light bluish gray
is almost white; from the picture those do not look to be that color at all.

You should compare this brick with a very light bluish gray part like one of
the Knights Kingdom shields.
This part isn’t meant to be very light bluish gray, it might be a color issue
like less color in the mix.
LBG, reddish brown and also other parts have quite some color variations.
So before calling it rare be sure it is.
Rare seems to be a very much abused words nowadays, maybe in this case it isn’t
but you need to be sure.

If you find any 2 x 4's in that shade of grey, let me know.

can't identify the color of. They are from set 41154 and the only gray listed

the 1x2x5 bricks. For reference, the arch, 1x4, and 2x4 are light bluish gray.
The liftarm is very light bluish gray.

I know there is a variance in the light bluish gray, but this is a pretty dramatic
shade difference. And they ALL have the same shade, every 1x1 and 1x2x5. They
are LEGO pieces as I checked the studs and the logo is present.

Any ideas? Or have I overlooked something simple?

You should try to contact LEGO to get these replacement parts!

some instances where it's almost impossible to tell a 'faded' LBG
from a old light gray.

But you can tell the color difference in these parts from 10 feet away in bad
light. Add in the fact that it's two different molds in the same set, and
they have the exact same color shade... maybe a wrong batch of color mixing in
the molding process?

I agree that it was probably a wrong batch of color mixing, but I would still
call this a quality issue - just a different kind of quality issue than the "normal"
color variation.

Btw. here is one more discussion about that:
https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=262307&nID=1174163

Looks like about one year ago TLG was aware of the issue and added replacement
parts to some sets.

I've noticed this as well. There appears to be a shade between Light Bluish
Gray and the old Light Gray. It's clearly an "Off Color Gray" as I call
them, and know they are meant to be Light Bluish Gray because for some parts,
that's the only gray it was ever produced in. Sometimes I have a REALLY
hard time deciphering if a part is actually Light Gray or LBG. In that case,
I don't bother listing them for sale because they don't meet my personal
level of sale quality.

Here is a similar case with 1x1 bricks in "too light bluish gray": https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=264511&nID=1183633

It is obviously a quality issue.

I am positive it is from 41154. The castle wasn't completely disassembled
and the light bright blue window only appears in that set. There were no older
regular light gray pieces in the lot.

If they were in a large loose box are you sure they came from 41154? Were there
any older (light gray) pieces in the box? The previous owner may have been playing
and took it apart and put it back together with some older bricks.

However, the fact that it is only certain elements (and all of those elements)
leads me to believe it was a bad batch produced this way by LEGO. Since it is
a recent set I wouldn't expect any fading or discoloration this quickly.

You can find early bricks without Lego logo on the studs but not often seen these
days, most have slots but not all.

The long side fill gate was used on a few odd moulds, usually test moulds I believe.

I have seen clone brands with the colour shown by OP.

As stated in other posts, the fact that the fill gate is on the long side of
the part is another sure sign that this is not LEGO.

PLEASE take a picture of the logos!

Never seen a clone brick with "LEGO" logos ...

Also, it just looks (old) brown to me

Cheers,

Is that a sprue mark (pip) on the long side of that brick? AFAIK a Lego brick
would have one on the short side (old) or on the top (newer)

Aren’t they 0937? I think there was a clone that tried that trick….

Good catch. The pip is misplaced and unesthetical, Lego won't do that.
We also know that non-Lego can't even clone a color right.

I’m not so sure but that mold imperfection seems a fake brick, does it have the

as i said in another reply i am not 100% sure it has lego logo's but the
more i compare it to a real lego piece the more i am convinced it is a 3d print
or something like that.
i will put it on my pile of fakes for now.

talking about that what place can i either sell or take my fake lego i think
i have about 1 kg now, any experiences? Marktplaats of naar de kringloop brengen?

No i will fotograph it with dark tan as well to show

I would of said dark nougat too but you're right that it doesn't exist.
Is it brown?
Definitely a Lego piece?

i am not a 100% sure it has lego logo's but the underside is smoother and
maybe thicker than other lego 1x4 bricks so may be it is a fake but very good
copy
