As the others in this thread said:
- Always check carts created with Auto-Select before paying, several limits beyond
the lot limit aren't checked during the search.
- Least favorite the difficult and price-baiting stores.
I may add:
- You can convert the content of a cart into its own Wanted List so that you
can more easily order these parts only from different stores.

has not responded to messages asking for a bypass password, an option he offers.
It would be nice if the auto select could either allow you to exclude particular
sellers, those with lot limits and/or provide some warning up front that a limit
exists prior to placing orders.
I have had to recreate the subset of items in another default list to only now
have another 5 carts created, one of which is the offending store.
I am unable to complete my in a logical manner. Were I able to manually do so,
it will be at significantly increased price do to the added shipping/handling.
I had 4 or 5 projects I was trying to complete. None of them can occur now.

Reproduction steps:
- Add a part to a wanted list, set the Have quantity to 1.
- On an inventory featuring the same part in the same color, click on the Add

- In the modal, select the wanted list, the existing Wanted quantity shows.

| When you create a cart from the Auto-Select feature of the Wanted List Buy page,
the cart knows what wanted list the parts ordered come from. But once the order
is created, this information is lost and this feature is the only remaining way
to link an order with the Wanted Lists, but it matches by Element, which means
all the Wanted Lists including the same part with the same color will show up
in that search.
The main caveat is that a part ordered in a specific color from a "Not Applicable"
color wanted list item will not match the relevant item in the same wanted list
in the "filter by order" feature. But it will match all the items in the other
Wanted lists with the exact color ordered even though they weren't the "source"

I'm in the same boat, I quote the exact USPS shipping price and for First-Class

able to take into account the existing limits on order size (minimum order amount
is supported, maximum lot number isn't), so I don't think it would be
easy to filter on shipping carrier.
The closest we have right now is the filter on stores that don't ship to
your registered address. It isn't perfect, I've been suggested stores

shipping to the state of New York.

lots of searching around, more expense, rebuild, etc.
This was the problem with making a model with most rare parts. I spent more than
I intended building this model. Originally it only came to £160, but in reality
it soon increased when parts were rare and people only had a few quantities of
each, meaning multiple purchases from several countries. I just hope I've

Actually, Studio tells you the price of each part (you can choose your currency
and if which value to consider) and which colours it comes in.
Method 0:
Select a part (or several!) in the build area and the price is indicated in the
status line (the semi-transparent line at the bottom of the build area).
Method 1:
Menu Model, entry Model Info opens a window with all the parts in the model that
shows their prices (per unit and total) and the total estimated price for the
whole model.
Method 2:
You can also check the box “Hide Unavailable Colors” in the colour palette and:
0. only the colours the selected parts come in are available in the colour palette,
1. dollar signs appear next to each colour: more $, more expensive,
2. the price is shown in a tooltip if you let the mouse over a colour for a couple
seconds.
Method 3:
There’s a similar box in the colour palette of the Building palette (the White/coloured
square at the left of the search box)… and then only the parts that exist in
that colour are available and their name is in Yellow if they are expensive.
(But be wary of this checkbox because many forget it’s on and then think parts
aren’t available at all while they are only not available in the selected colour.)
Method 4, sort-of (no price, only “known” or not):
In the steplist, parts that are in a colour that’s not “known” by the catalogue
(= they don’t appear in an inventory in that colour) have a yellow ! on the left
and a tooltip saying the colour is not available.
The old “check errors” at the bottom of the steplist or the new Color Validator
can tell you which parts don’t exist in the colour they are painted in. And
the Color Validator can also repaint all of them in one or two clicks.
| […]
The other challenge I had was that I didn't know there were different versions
fo grey brick. I just hope that my choice of Light Grey (older style),is a right
one.
|
It may be for the accuracy of your build but it’s definetely not for your wallet:
if, as you put it, Light Gray is “older style,” it’s because production has stopped
in the Great Colour Shift of 2003-2004 and now all bricks produced are Light
Bluish Gray.
Parts that are not produced anymore are generally more rare & expensive than
common nowadays parts.
| The building does look white and silver, and grey. It catches the light,
so it depends on the angle of the sun. I hope it turns out well in real life
when I eventually finish it. I will aim to finish it before Christmas. Would
be keen to hear your comments. Cheers. Neil

| Hi,
here’s the blunt of it: Bricklink isn’t suited for selling in bulk. If you do
not want to make sure your sets are complete or inventory every single part,
your best bet is to sell the whole lot on local marketplaces like Craigslist,
Facebook Marketplace, even NextDoor.
Estimating the worth of a bulk lot without knowing the sets that came into it

bulk LEGO by the pound between $2 and $10 per pound.

| First of all congratulations on your design and buying parts for it! Building
a self-designed MOC is a great if a little expensive experience.
I remember your recent post about the cost of your MOC and I replied some general
cost-saving techniques, I hope some were useful to you but I feel like I was
already too late for this particular project.
A few thoughts:
- “Light Gray” refers to a color LEGo stopped producing parts for in 2003, going
instead with “Light Bluish Gray”, same with “Dark Grey”/“Dark Bluish Grey” and
“Brown”/“Reddish Brown. As a result, “Light Gray” parts availability has been
decreasing over time as LEGO doesn’t make them anymore, and their price is generally
higher than “Light Bluish Gray” counterparts LEGO started producing from 2003
on.
- As I suspected from your original succinct description of a “tower building”,
you probably have a lot of structural parts hidden inside the model that you
could have ordered in the cheapest color available.
- Studio has a BrickLink integration once you log in with your credentials where
average prices for different parts/colors are shown directly in the editor, including
an estimate of the model’s average cost. This allows for cost optimization directly
in the editor long before the first part list export in a Wanted List.

| Sorry about that, on top of straight up removing parts, here are a couple additional
general strategies for reducing the part price of a MOC:
- Reducing the number of lots: this might sound counter-intuitive because it
increases the total number of parts, but oftentimes splitting a large part into
2 smaller might bring the total cost down. This may lower the model strength
and stability but in the case of a square tower building, it should be pretty
safe to do so.
- Switching colors: some parts are only really expensive in specific colors.
Switching from Flat Silver/Metallic Silver to Light or Dark Bluish Gray may bring
the part cost down.
- Filler bricks: Identify the structural parts that never appear in the finished
model. You can use any color parts and especially any condition. Sellers will
usually slash prices for parts with heavy playwear, nicks, dents, scratches,
etc...
If you're using the Auto-Select feature of the Wanted List Buy page, here
are additional suggestions to optimize the total price:
- You can set the color of filler parts to "Not Applicable" in your wanted list
and the search will often give you the cheapest color for the relevant part.
- For expensive parts, the search might select stores carrying a more expensive
than average lot because the store is also selected for other parts. You can
set a Maximum Price in your wanted list for these parts so that these lots will
be excluded. I usually pick something close to the Average or Quantity Average
you can get from the Price Guide for the relevant part. It keeps a good parts
availability while hopefully saving on the total parts cost.
- Watch out for shipping fees. Every time you run the search, pay attention to
the number of stores the search suggest. Every store will require a separate
shipping fee, and sometimes saving £5 on the parts total isn't worth it if
it adds a couple more stores to the cart suggestion.

pieces. (£350). I have tried reducing the number of bricks down but its still
rather high. I guess I'll have to just save up or keep trying to refresh
it daily.

| Yes, the BrickLink refund page shows the amount that comes from the seller and
the amount that comes from Bricklink.
The problem is that the page cuts the tax amount from the refund amount submitted
by the seller, this means that the seller has to play over/under with the submitted
amount to refund the correct amount for the missing parts since it needs to include
the tax in the first place which isn't intuitive.
Instead they should have added the tax amount refunded by BrickLink to the submitted
refund amount by the seller. I don't know what they were going for with this.

| The easiest way to find stores for specific part/minifigures is to fill a Wanted
List
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/list.page
Then you can choose between these Pirates minifigures and add them to your wanted
list with the desired quantity:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=M&catString=61
Then you can go over to the Wanted List Buy page where you will be suggested
stores carrying the selected minifigures:

You may have to do a little bit of legwork to determine the cheapest minifigure
for a given look you're going for as the theme as an extensive history and

| Your technical question has been answered, but as for the original matter, I
don't think it was for nothing. Your terms don't shield you from legal
responsibility (for the condition of the package until reception) nor from negative
feedback.
It is always disappointing to receive parts more damaged than expected, no matter
what the lot description or the store terms say, and the least you can do is
sympathize with the buyer instead of publicly castigating them.
Selling less than ideal parts is an ongoing contentious subject, some buyers
are looking for these as filler because they're usually cheaper, and some
others don't want them at all. Bricklink doesn't make it easy so filter
them out, because the "Used" condition is currently too broad, it probably needs
a "Filler" condition that would help reduce expectation discrepancies between
sellers and buyers.
In the mean time, I think you'd be better off making your buyers happy than
asserting an irrelevant "conformity" in this case where subjectivity is key.

I would suggest you (or anyone else, really) to avoid LEGO Ideas. I've explained

About Kickstarter campaigns: they require a lot of work over a limited timeframe.
You have to create the campaign, drum up support, set a realistic initial goal,
plan for rewards, stretch goals if it catches on, sourcing bricks to ship full
games, assemble and ship them in a timely manner once the campaign hopefully
succeeds.
About Patreon: I feel like they work better for people producing a constant stream
of content where the subscription model matches the work output. In your context,
this seems to me to be the least committal option while also offering very low
income expectations.
Good luck for whatever option you choose!

"absolutely meaningless" is pretty interpretable, so truth vs non truth, of such
a statement, is not absolute.
A seller just starting, might have 50% positive, due to one jerk buyer. So of
course I read the comment and the seller's response before deciding this
is a bad seller. I like to give new sellers a chance, but I don't make large
high cost orders with them.
A seller that has been selling for years might have 99.X and have a string of

| The Positive Feedback percentage value is absolutely meaningless, even for buyers,
since it only goes down to about 95% for the worst of the worst sellers until
they eventually get closed down for collecting too many completed NSS alerts.
Additionally, a perfect 100% score doesn't tell you much more than 99% as
buyers regularly leave bad faith Negative feedbacks or good faith Neutral
feedbacks, so any store with more than a hundred orders is likely to have a less
than perfect feedback score even if they are beyond reproach.
That said, in this case I would say "no harm no foul". You didn't spend any
money and you can't order the parts from them anymore, so I'd suggest
you to move on like you initially intended to.
In Buying, eileenkeeney writes:
| I had been waiting for an invoice for over a week, and when I checked on the
order this morning I saw it was cancelled. The reason is "System Problem".
Then I checked the sellers inventory to see if the parts had been relisted, and
saw that the parts I most wanted were not relisted
Seller might just be unorganized and didn't have the parts, in which case
canceling is what I would have opted for had they asked me. But no communication?
I could leave feedback, but probably won't. It is not as if the seller has
a good feedback record anyway, and had it not been for those few rare parts I
likely would not have placed an order with them. I kept the order small (under
my risk limit).
Would other folks leave any feedback in this case, maybe a neutral? Even a neutral
goes against positive percent, which is what buyers first see.
I am not sure how many buyers look deeper.
Seller is not in an English speaking country, so lack of communication could
really be just a language problem.

underage buyer ordering one of the largest seller's entire store, and when
the order was rightfully canceled, it broke the script to return the items to

| The basic strategy is to look for the base part number of the stickered part.
For this stickered part:
The base part is:
So you can start looking for "15068*" where the wildcard symbol catches all the
part numbers that start with "15068".
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=15068*&tab=P
If there are too many results, you can filter by color in More Options:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=15068*&color=3&tab=P
After a while, you'll start noticing the naming patterns for the stickers,
and you will be able to refine your search to the actual picture of the sticker.
If a sticker has something written on it, it will be in the catalog item name,
for example.
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=15068*&color=3&tab=P
Good luck!

If it reads lower than 99% you should start to worry. If it's lower than
98% than contact the seller before placing an order. If it's lower than 97%:
avoid the seller!
In your case I'm sure all will eventually work out right for you because
you will get support from the admins here.

While I agree with this - I wouldn't necessarily advise anything under 99%
to be worried. I've got a neutral and a negative from two customers that
I couldn't please with my customer service, but the rest of my feedback is
positive. I'd say it varies on the feedback % and the number of orders. Feedback
is definitely something every buyer should read before they buy though.

Please exclude from the list of available stores for a given set of parts the

| Pergrinator is correct, but I would discourage you from doing so. Orders regularly
have missing/wrong/broken parts, so if you're applying an order to your want
lists before receiving it, you will have to go back and update the quantities
of the missing/wrong/broken parts.
To efficiently order all your wanted parts from several stores at once, please
consider using the Auto-Select feature on the Wanted List Buy page: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/buy.page
In Help, peregrinator writes:

I am working on a rather big project. I have a giant want list for it and of
course, no seller has all the parts I need in store.
One seller has about 80% of the parts I need.
Is there any way for me to purge the want list after an order has been placed,
to so any item on that want list, which I already ordered, is deleted, and only
the ones not ordered yet, remain on the list?
|
After placing the order you can use the "Apply Order" functionality. But caveat:
the system doesn't remember which orders you applied to your Want List, so
it's possible to apply it twice.
After applying the order, the quantities will be adjusted, so if you use the
"Buy" functionality from the Want List it won't look for items where the
quantity you have is greater than or equal to the quantity wanted.

| Unfortunately not. For better or for worse, shipping methods are manually entered,
including the weight tables.
This means most of the shipping methods you can currently borrow from other sellers
are already obsolete, incomplete, inaccurate or a mix of all three.
If you do not want to lose money on shipping at all, switch to Invoice only (like
I do) which allows you to charge shipping to the exact cent you spent on it.
Instant Checkout is meant to be convenient for buyers, at a marginal cost for
sellers when automatic shipping charges aren't set up properly.
Especially with First-Class Package where domestic zoning isn't supported
in the Bricklink shipping method weight table, US sellers have to pick a single
cost for each weight band for all of the US. It can be the average of zone prices,
it can be the maximum possible, but there's no exact correspondence with
USPS prices, especially not when they change.
Good luck updating your shipping method, I suggest you get to it soon!
In Shipping, PickBrix writes:
| I was wondering since tomorrow, USPS will increase prices on most shipping methods.

| Rebrickable seems to use a simple average between all the available prices it
knows about, and since BrickLink has both many similar low prices and a few very
high prices, the average tends to not be close to most of BL prices.

| Why is there such a vast difference between what Rebrickable says the piece is
worth vs. the price of the piece on Bricklink?

| Sorry about all of this, for the shipping notification to the buyer I prefer
to use the "Thank you, Drive Thru!" email feature in BrickLink, since there can
be several hours between the creation of the label and the actual shipping.
Since I have disabled sending a notification to the buyer when I purchase a label
from PayPal, its removal in Shipstation wouldn't affect my own workflow.
But I feel you for all the rest. Especially the double email for the receipt
and the label, for some reason.

| I just had my first experience with PayPal ship station and it sucks.
You have to enter dimensions for EVERY FLIPPING PACKAGE!
It ships in my name with my company name, something I prefer not to do.
It insists on correcting every address that I had to ship to this morning.
It prints the label in a different orientation which impacts my process of adding
the order number to the label.
I could not find a way to add a note for the customer to let them know the package
is on the way.
You get two e-mails for each label, the label itself and a receipt for said label.
You have to give it permissions to see just about everything in your PayPal account,
which makes me a bit uncomfortable.
I feel like there must be some pros to the new system, but I am having a very
hard time finding them.
