Hi,

Is it possible as a buyer to add personal comment to a lot or part in the cart?
By personal I mean that it will only be visible to me and not the seller.

Currently it is possible to add comments only to the whole order after it has
been made but
I need something in higher resolution.

For me it can be helpful to write down the purpose of the item I'm purchasing,
for later usage when the order arrives.

How do I suggest something like this to Bricklink?

Thanks,
Nadav

If you're referring to the store's listing?

https://store.bricklink.com/CanadaFirst?p=CanadaFirst#/shop?o={%22q%22:%2271710%22,%22sort%22:7,%22desc%22:1,%22pgSize%22:100,%22showHomeItems%22:0}

... then it's the instructions. Yes, it can be confusing for the uninitiated.

btw, you can always put questions to them directly

Odd question but is there a way to just buy the pieces of the set? Like I wanted
to check if this was a feature. Select an option where you can get the pieces
you're looking for if you have instructions or a button to select. In case
the set is hard to find or very rare. And if you don't care about the box,
minifigs or instructions?

Thanks!

alternatively, you can look for a used set and just sell the instructions, buy
a new set and ask the seller to de box it for you. Buying it individually will
almost always be more expensive than in a set

You should be aware that if a set is rare (demand higher than supply) then some
of the parts are also likely to be rare. And will probably end up costing more
than the set.

You can add a sets inventory to a 'Wanted List' (see pic).
You can then use the Wanted List to search for stores that have all the parts.

There are many excellent sellers with stores that offer conditional “free shipping”
and if you come upon a store that doesn’t, simply ask ahead of ordering.

You may be surprised how well the request is received, if when asking, you spell-out
what type of order you’re considering. Not just dollar amount, but number of
lots and the type of items too. In supplying these particulars, you’ll find more
sellers willing to entertain and reply. Basically, it's letting the seller
know that you’re serious and what costs they can expect to factor and absorb.

Normally, I offer free shipping on domestic orders over $200, though I'm
considering lowering the threshold for 2022.

But since it's Christmastime, I'll temporarily offer free shipping on
domestic orders over $25 for anyone who sees this post. Just mention this offer
in a message with your order over $25 before tax between now and the end of Christmas
Day (midnight on 12/25). You'll receive a refund for the full shipping costs
when your order ships.

Oh, and Merry Christmas to all!

Hi,
Use a Wanted List: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1

And then use the Buy Page to find store(s) with your parts: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2445

A common problem with Russian banks

The problem is not solely with the banks, but with PayPal. Rather than packing
up and leaving the marketplace (as they spoke of early on) they ultimately decided
to stay, accepting the new restrictions: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1305735

The root cause for the new restrictions is the Russian Government's concern
over the domestic money-flows. They want insight if not more control over money
movements within the country itself. Apparently instruments like PayPal were
heavily relied on for such, at least as claimed in their statements. Not that
knowing the "root cause" will help you or anyone else just trying to transact
with/from Russia using PayPal of late

Ask your seller to manually create a PayPal invoice from their PayPal account.

There are two ways to create a payment request by the seller.
1) 'Request Money' - this will NOT work
2) ';Create an invoice' - this should work

+1

  Hi all,

Is there any way for BL to let me know if a specific part is for sale and if
so how refined is the criteria? Say I want to know if a seller makes available
at least 100 2x4 bricks in blue for a price of no more than 8p per brick. Is
it possible to set up a notification with this level of detail?

Thanks!

Also by seller I mean any seller in the UK not a specific seller.

Yes, you can add any part to your wanted list in a specific color, condition,
quantity, and maximum price. Then make sure that "notify" is checked next to
it. What you will get is an email notification anytime a seller uses the "notfy
feature" in their store that matches ALL the criteria on that part. If any condition
is not met, you will not get an email. So if your quantity shows 10 and they
only have 8 you will not get an email.

As for receiving only notifications from a specific country, I am not sure that
there is a way to do that.

It's important to know that you will not recieve an email anytime an item

Pete

Here's where the "Notify" checkbox is located on your wanted list

Aha that's great, thanks very much!

so how refined is the criteria?

It's important to know that you will not recieve an email anytime an item
you have set up like this is listed. It is only when the seller uses the notify
feature which is completely dependant on the seller.

Hi Bricklinkers,

I already have copy of 4 existing certificates but the goal is to find all 7
(known to be in existence) ones.
I want to check the market, so see my wanted list, please:

1 x certificate with lime lom "Altair" (lom003) --- search "lomcert5" on
www.bricklink.com
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?G=LoMcert5#T=S&O={%22rpp%22:%22200%22,%22iconly%22:0}

1 x certificate with sand purple lom "Mizar" (lom009)

1 x certificate with black lom "Rigel" (lom011)

Please get in contact with me. We can figure out a good deal for both of us.
I would be happy if I find another certificate . It is some time ago I found
one.
It would be a cool Christmas present for myself .

Hoping to hear you, very thanks and greetings

Farid

You have reached the browsing limit. There is an unspecified limited number of
store pages you may visit in a day or so. Try again tomorrow and you will be
good to go for a while.

In step 3, I believe, when you choose a payment method, to the bottom left corner
of the box is a tiny drop-down. You can choose the coupon there.

Tiny drop-down indeed. Every now and then, I see my coupons and notice that
I didn't use it for a purchase I just made.

It sure would be nice if it were more prominent, like on Amazon.

If you don’t have filters in the way, I think this happens when you’ve browsed
stores “too much.”

May I kindly ask what does "browsing too much" mean? I am searching for the items
from my wanted lists. Do I need to wait to do that?

I don’t know what is “too much,” that’s why I used quotes
There’s a “daily” counter but I don’t know on which “day” it runs.  It may be
reinitialized during the daily maintenance (in less than an hour) or at 0:00
(just a few minutes ago).

Apparently this has been an issue for a long time, but has not been fixed yet.
The biggest worry is why it has to take so long to fix something as important
as a check out process.

I have broken off several carts when seeing the cost, I didn't click to the
2nd page, I had no reason to. So stores missed out on sales because the price
shown is incorrect. I know now to click to the next screen.

But that's idiotic! If I know the amount of the additional costs, I also

Placed an order at a store and got in touch with the owner, a very friendly lovely
lady. I placed the order but didn't check out, as I was checking my options.
Then I received an email from the lovely lady, telling me the set was reserved
for me, should I wish to purchase. I was taken aback by this, thought it was
very nice of her. We had a back and forth, and from the get-go I noticed she
went out of her way to make the sale work. So today I received the package and
it brought tears to my eyes, without exaggeration.

The parcel was well packed and when I opened it, I noticed the LEGO set was wrapped
in very nice wrapping paper. But then I noticed a second item, which I didn't
order. I unwrapped it and it was an extra poly bag and a wrapped chocolate. And
on top of that a Xmas card wishing me and my family well.

It silenced me, brought tears to my eyes, and gave me goosebumps. Wow, what an
experience, what a lovely lady. This is what we need more off in today's
world.

This made my day. Thank you lovely lady!

I've say it before: wish such shared positive experiences were posted more
frequently around here. What a nice first reading of the forum to enjoy with
my coffee this morning. Thanks!

Hopefully Maria will get around to also help build your feedback score. Btw,
there's nothing wrong with naming the member publicly, especially in praise

Thanks for posting, nice to hear heart warming stories and not the usual problems
we see.

Worked out who it was from the feedback, looks like it’s certainly not a one
off, best of luck to her.

Thank you lovely lady!

have already been added.

Also, why shouldn't I be allowed to have a shipping address in another country?
If I buy something from a German store and it cost me 25 euro to have it shipped
to Ireland, I should be able to be choose a German address, so the shipping would
cost me 15 euro and save 10 euro. We live in 2021, not in 1960. Borders are open,
people live and travel everywhere, technology has advanced. The world has gotten
a lot smaller in 50 years.

Well then, I'm not sure. But when I check my account setting, it shows my
house address, but when I click on an order placed in our store, it shows our
PO box address. Can't remember what I did when we got the PO box to change
the address, but we didn't change the main one.

Ok. Your PO address is in the same country right?

So this is the message when trying to change the shipping address

"You can only have addresses assigned to one country at a time. To change your
shipping country, update your main BrickLink address in Account Information."

So what I stated in my OP is correct.

Here an idea. I am guessing you use pay pal to pay??? Now for the seller and
buyer protections to be LIVE you need to send to the shipping address listed
on the pay pal account. If it sent to the shipping address listed on that paypal
account the buyer protection there to cover it. NOW the fact bricklink will
not let you change shipping address to match pay pal is insane as it leave Sellers
open to claims if they follow the bricklink shipping address and strips the seller
protection of them through pay pal. Any smart seller should be following the
shipping address on the pay pal account.. Just food for thought

I would disagree. Definition states "another form such as accessory packs
or Pick A Brick". Accessory packs and Pick A Brick are examples of "another form".

Otherwise the definition would state:

New Parts - Parts are brand new, taken directly from new sets, accessory packs
or Pick A Brick
and have been handled only for sorting....

"accessory packs and Pick A Brick" are called out specifically as being ok, but
not Bricklink sellers. I would guess that's because there's no provenance
for the items bought on BL.

However, I guess it's unfortunately open to interpretation. Personally,
I'd never sell something I bought on BL as new unless it was still sealed.

Haha. Vinegar smell does disappear on its own pretty quickly. I’ve only ever
ended up with one cigarette smoke batch. I couldn’t even stand the smell so
I threw it all out except the figures. Soaked those overnight (outside) in 50/50
vinegar and the smell was gone totally in the morning. I’ve used vinegar on
a couple of other “old person house” batches too and it works great.

And I’ve sold used figs (including a $60 used fig) that the buyer turned around
and listed as new for double the price. I don’t trust a “new” bricklink item
and I’d never list something as new that I didn’t open myself.

Yes it is interpretation. There is nothing to say only sold by LEGO after the
such as, and such as implies it is not an exhaustive list. Whereas they do specifically
mention assembled by LEGO when taking apart assembled minifigs and selling the
parts. Buying parts as new from another seller and not using them means they
are not used. Plus PAB parts have no provenance either, someone could have put
them together in the bins. BAM parts are even worse, kids frequently build them
and dump them.

I frequently buy new minifigs in BL for a specific part, then sell off the bits
I don't want.

At what point do they again smell like Lego?
If they smell like vinegar and you put oil on them, do they smell like salad.
If someone at Lego production passes by the bagging machine and passes wind and
they arrive with a smell, is that still new and what Lego smells like out of
the factory. The Danes do have some weird tasting and smelling food` when dining.
I wouldn't even bring up the fact that Lego was produced in Juarez just
across the border from El Paso.

Then add some salt and oil and they’ll smell and taste like fish & chips?

Anyway, vinegar can be rinced and pretty quickly “evaporates.”

Sure you can, so long as you believe the seller is trustworthy. If a seller sells
new parts and you don't build with them, they are still in the same unused
condition.

Store buyouts would never happen if new parts became instantly used when changing
hands.

I don't agree with it, but technically, they can be sold as new:
New Parts - Parts are brand new, taken directly from new sets or were purchased
"as new" in another form such as accessory packs or Pick A Brick and have been
handled only for sorting. These parts have never been used in any manner. If
a minifigure or part assembly was originally sold assembled by LEGO, its component
parts after disassembly can also be listed as new.

To get smoke smell out, soak them in vinegar. If really bad, keep them in there
a few hours submerged.

By the way, I can change my address and buy from dutch stores. That is already
possible now, its just cumbersome. Using shipping address would make it easier.
In fact, you can set it up so that if an account signed up with an irish address,
uses a dutch shipping address, the order cannot be placed. And you can let stores
choose to enable or disable address match.

Ive worked for paypal for a couple of years, I know how it works.

"I think a seller should have the right to choose especially where there are
different
costs to them
."

They can, you can restrict shipping to countries in your settings.

"Are you denying paypal charges a cross border fees when someone
with an account in another region pays you? "

Eh? I didnt say that, paypal does charge cross border fees. And you misunderstand
how paypal works, it doesnt charge on delivery address, it charges on the registered
location of the paypal account.

"if a German buyer (with a German registered PayPal account) buys in GBP from
a UK seller but puts a UK address, this is not classed as a domestic transaction
by PayPal, it is international."

No, that is not how it works. It would still be a local transaction. paypal doesnt
care about the shipping address, it only cares about the funding source.

"No it doesn't, if customers are allowed to change their BL address to
a
Dutch one, then change back. They still have to sell to anyone so long as they
put a NL shipping address.
"

Correct, so they can only sell to dutch customers. They can restrict paypal
payments from other paypal accounts in their paypal settings.

"No, they can't. They can restrict the country on BL, but if buyers can
change
their address to the seller's country to place an order, then they cannot
stop that buyer from buying and using a foreign PayPal account to pay, hence
increasing the PayPal fees charged.
"

OK, they can still block those payments on their paypal account, or force a quote
before shipping.

It can all be resolved, but people rather think in problems then solutions.

I disagree with the locking down countries for buyers, its close minded thinking.
I live in the EU, I am used to buying from other (EU) countries, and shipping
it to where I want.

I think a seller should have the right to choose especially where there are different
costs to them.

As for cross border payments, not true either. I have an irish paypal account,
that doesnt change with changing the shipping address. And stores can limit the
countries they ship to.

What is not true? Are you denying paypal charges a cross border fees when someone
with an account in another region pays you? For example, if a German buyer (with
a German registered PayPal account) buys in GBP from a UK seller but puts a UK
address, this is not classed as a domestic transaction by PayPal, it is international.
But BL treats it as domestic, as the buyer claimed to be in the same country
for ten minutes before changing their address back. The seller pays more than
they would if it was domestic, down to the CROSS BORDER FEE. Even if paid in
the right currency, the cross border fee is still charged. Maybe you don't
have it for EU-EU transactions. It can be as high as an extra 2%.

If you mean a dutch store doesnt want to get payments from a cross border paypal,
than that means he can only sell to dutch customers anyway.

No it doesn't, if customers are allowed to change their BL address to a
Dutch one, then change back. They still have to sell to anyone so long as they
put a NL shipping address.

if a store doesnt want to deal with cross border paypal payments, they can choose
to restrict this on their account and set up IBAN payments. And IBAN payments
are more expensive than paypal anyway if it is from EU to Non-EU.

No, they can't. They can restrict the country on BL, but if buyers can change
their address to the seller's country to place an order, then they cannot
stop that buyer from buying and using a foreign PayPal account to pay, hence
increasing the PayPal fees charged.

Look, whatever, its all way too complicated as it is now, just allow for more
shipping address on an account, just like ebay and amazon, and problem is sorted.

Your problem may be sorted but other problems open up.

Sellers used to be able to see this information and they changed it, for whatever
reason. Unless there is a good reason to change it back, I doubt they will. If
anything they could probably remove the ability for buyers to see it, that gives
equality and doesn't really affect anyone's ability to buy on BL.

As for asking persons to open an account for me, I am not going to ask my 80
year old parents to open an account on BL, as for other addresses, those are
forwarding services like Addresspal and Mailbox.de. I am also not going to ask
a friend to open an account so he can buy his own birthday present.

So ask your parents for permission first and open it in one of their names.

There is an issue with buyers that keep changing countries in that their paypal
accounts remain based in their country. That means extra cross border fees for
the seller on what appears otherwise a domestic transaction. I wouldn't mind
if BL went the other way, and cracked down on this changing country behaviour.
If a seller chooses to be domestic only, then they should be able to deny international
transactions where the buyer sends a domestic forwarding address. Of course,
some sellers don't mind it, but others will.

No, just allow for a buyer or store to have shipping addresses. It is a basic
thing. Never come across this address lock-in anywhere ever. Marketplaces like
ebay and Amazon are all set up to have several shipping addresses.

If I buy something from a German store and it cost me 25 euro to have it shipped
to Ireland, I should be able to be choose a German address, so the shipping would
cost me 15 euro and save 10 euro. We live in 2021, not in 1960. Borders are open,

a lot smaller in 50 years.

As for asking persons to open an account for me, I am not going to ask my 80

forwarding services like Addresspal and Mailbox.de. I am also not going to ask
a friend to open an account so he can buy his own birthday present.

No, just allow for a buyer or store to have shipping addresses. It is a basic
thing. Never come across this address lock-in anywhere ever. Marketplaces like
ebay and Amazon are all set up to have several shipping addresses.

You should be able to change your address on checkout. We use PO box for our
store address, but when I just recently purchased on Bricklink a few days ago,
it had our normal house address all ready to go. So both address are in the BL
system.

Whether or not you're allowed to have another address out of country, I'm
not sure.

That's why you always need to read store terms before buying. I, too, wrote
in my store terms that I'm a smoke free house. I really think that, even
if the parts are new, the parts with cigarette smell should be cheaper than non-smoke
parts. You are right, the smell of cigarettes is really awful. Try to wash your
new parts in the washing machine. Hope it'll helps.

Sure you can, so long as you believe the seller is trustworthy. If a seller sells
new parts and you don't build with them, they are still in the same unused
condition.

Store buyouts would never happen if new parts became instantly used when changing
hands.

For example as a buyer, I can see which store has blocked me. As a store I cannot.
This makes no sense. I have 5 stores that blocked me, and I have no idea why.

I doubtvthis will ever be an acceptable reason to have a second account. If BL
wanted more transparency there, they would just allow sellers to see both sides
of the stoplist.

Second issue is changing my shipping address. I have an address in Ireland, Netherlands,
UK and Germany to receive goods. But I cannot change my address as a buyer, because
my store will be closed and I have to through the whole verification process

one fixed address for my store? Why does BL only allow for one address on my

Presumably they have only a single address field in the database. Maybe get the
person that receives mail in those countries on your behalf to open an account.

I bought these parts for me, I don't do reselling on my store.

Technically, parts are new, I can easily see that ; But the smell is really strong
and awful ! All I have to do is to write a neutral feedback, put everything outside
long enough for the smell to disappear, and don't buy on this store again
!

Thanks, but I'd rather have them update the site so we can use shipping addresses
instead of flipflopping between two accounts.

Anyway, its sales lost, because I am forced to buy the set somewhere else now,
and I need two.

And I am not allowed to have two accounts either.

Is there anything on the roadmap to address this address issue?

One thing I've encountered at times is updating a wanted list in the few
minutes immediately prior to the daily maintenance. After the maintenance finishes
my changes have disappeared.

It's intermittent and probably due to server load in those few minutes -
the update request probably gets obliterated in the maintenance. Or there's
something that gets restored from a backup.

If I was adding parts when this occurs, they disappear after the maintenance.

Whenever this has happened to me in the past it appears to have the 'shipping'
included in the total without actually showing the shipping on the shipping line.
It has always disappeared on the next screen. Just a thought and not for sure.

I get this on many sites. I check the sellers terms and there is no reference
to any fee which explains it. The difference doesn't even match the minimum
postage quoted in the terms.

I think that's the only reasonable explanation, especially as the OP seems
to remove items rather than updating have quantities - the selection checkboxes
don't clear when you make a change, which means they could easily be deleting
a number of items without noticing there are one or two more already selected.

I've had a number of decent sized wanted lists there for some time without
anything disappearing unexpectedly. I recently tidied up my lists so don't
know how many lots the oldest ones had, but I have a 599 lot list which has been
there for well over 3 years and still has the correct number of lots and total
items.

I can't say that I've ever had this happen. I don't have large wanted
lists at all. My largest would be around 50 lots, but I do have one that I've
had for well over 6 months that has two lots in it that hasn't been affected.
Maybe it was a errant cursor click when you were processing a previous order?

Not sure how large your talking about but, you could post a picture. I filled
an order for a new buyer (0 feedback) a few months back just based on a picture
he posted on the forum. Alot of the parts were not even in my inventory but I
knew I had them so I just messaged him and filled the order. More info and someone
might bite.
