Bad practice and not normal.

We all find that for some inexplicable reason a part is missing on occasions
but I for one always inform the buyer and try to source from someone else so
I don’t let anyone down.

I offer to cancel if they prefer or ask for a few days to source the missing
part/s at my expense.

Most buyers are happy to wait a few days so that the order is complete, they
don’t have to order from another seller and incur extra costs.

It didn't show as shipped or even packed so I asked that they cancel the
order within 4 minutes of being told and I get told sorry it is already shipped
and if I want to cancel to just reject it and when they get it back I will get
a refund.
Well it is on the other side of the world so that would be well over a month.
What a bad way to do business

This is not normal.
Unfortunately some sellers prefer fast shipment of the order over great service.

Hmm, yes, and neither is asking for more money once the package has shipped.

Maybe a dimensional issue the postal carrier noted when attempting delivery?
2lbs is not very heavy but maybe the box was oversized? Just throwing out guesses
here at this point. As far as being a buyer in this situation there is nothing
you should do, you paid, you got your item, the seller needs to look into this,
but obviously answer any questions they have if you can help.

I wouldn't think a reasonable seller would flat out just ask for more money.

I just received a message from a seller about a very odd shipping issue. I'll
quote the message below:

"Unfortunately, I just received a notice from paypal and the USPS telling me
that I owe another $27.46 in unpaid postage on your package because it was "delivered
to a garage or other location.""

So, I looked up the tracking and that item is recorded at the time of delivery.
I also searched for it online and found nothing about up-charges related to
it. What am I looking at with this charge. The seller is asking me for the
money, as if I had something to do with the tracking item. As far as I could
tell the package was delivered the same as hundreds before..including many BL
orders dropped at my house (as opposed to my mailbox) that have never incurred
an additional charge.

Is this maybe a scam? Postal carrier error? USPS scam? Who needs to argue on
who's behalf to resolve it?

Thanks.

If true, this is an unfortunate situation for the seller. However, it is the
seller's situation; not yours. Since you already paid the invoice (which
I assume included the seller's postage charge,) you are not bound to pay
any additional postage. Also the whole thing sounds hokey to me since delivering
to a garage is generally not something approved by the postmaster general, and
charging extra for it is quite odd. Maybe your address was confused with someone
else's by the USPS?

I know that this is a random question, but does anyone know if the Pick A Brick
walls are open yet to customer use? I plan to go to the LEGO Store for the first
time in over a year and was hoping that I will be able to fill up the PAB cups,
and not have to have them filled by the employees. Thanks!

I guess it's one way of interpreting it, but I'm not sure it's what
the seller had in mind.

I haven't had too many cases of that actually. This isn't a strict rule.
If it's only a couple days over, they have a reasonable explanation for delay,
it's obvious on our side that we did make an error, then we'll rectify
the mistake.

Of the few others, it's always been a couple months later (beyond paypal
claim deadline), and once I point them to my store terms, they usually disappear.
I haven't had any issues so far.

I was also wondering about the BrickLink policy since the help page for the NSS
alert doesn't even mention the case where the package contents doesn't
match the order: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=110

In Terms and Policies, peregrinator writes:

Obviously if you paid by PayPal or used a credit card with Stripe, it would not

I'm not 100% certain there aren't examples of this part with the logo
printed on them - it's possible that more recent ones do, this part was still
being included in sets through 2017. But I am 100% certain that older ones will
not have the logo on them.

It's probably a USPS error - errors aren't common, but neither are they
completely unknown - although I have to say I've not heard of this one before.
Typically a First Class parcel gets misidentified as Priority Mail and then USPS
charges the sender for it (this can be appealed). The sender (the seller) should
definitely appeal, but I don't see how the buyer could be held responsible
for it. Of course you should help the seller out with whatever information he
might need for the appeal.

Do you still have the packing box, with the label on it ? My guess is that the
shipper either under quoted the weight, or possibly did not take into account
the package might be dimensional. What set, or sets, were inside the package
?

There should be a resolution process somewhere for your seller to appeal to.
Reply back kindly that the notice is inaccurate and share with them as much information
and documentation as you can so they can fight it. Lots of technical problems
at USPS right now...

Good luck,

Hello, I sold some Plant Flower Small, 4 on Sprue, Item No: 3742c01 and only
now, almost after 2 months Ive shipped the order, the buyer sent me a message
saying the parts are not LEGO, because dont have the Brand LEGO name on it, but
this parts dont have it, so what I can do to try to fix this

PS: also the buyer was registered in UK, and now it's on the USA

Thanks

Have you told the buyer that not every authentic Lego part has the Lego name/logo
on it? Some of these flowers are old, they pre-date microprinting

How long does a seller have to report a missing item from an order please?
Thank you 😀

A seller should inform the buyer as soon as possible, preferably before sending
the parcel.

Presumably you mean buyer though. In that case, no formal timescale is set. BL
keeps order details for six months and disputes at PayPal need to be opened within
six months.

Hi sorry, yes I meant buyer. This buyer is obviously contacting different sellers
today and it seems ridiculous that he can make a claim for an order from 3 months+
ago? If the parcel was missing, I would only have something like a 45 day window
to claim with the Royal Mail so surely something similar should apply?
Thanks for your help

Yes, that is what happens. When payment is made the buyer is charged the VAT
amount (or, if in the USA, the sales tax amount) in addition to the order total.
That amount is then removed from the PayPal payment as the "partner fee"

OK thank you very much

Someone has just said to me 3months after the order that 2 pieces we’re missing
and I know 100% they weren’t so I know how you feel 👍

Thanks for the reply. I had a thought that it was 3 months but just looking on
PayPal it says “you have 45 days to file a dispute”. Either way this particular
order is from April so I think the 3 months would be up anyway.
My concern would be feedback and would BrickLink remove a negative (if posted)
in this situation?
Thanks again

I know I’m in the same situation. Hope the person wasn’t called Ollie

….he is!

Olliels is the user name for the one that’s complaining with me. He ordered on
10 April marked the package as received then completed and now complains parts
are missing.

goodmorning

sometimes i was sure i put it in an order and later discovered it was misplaced
but...
if you are right and it WAS in the order..then what to do

you have 2 options

re send the parts and loose 7 pound
or wait for an NSS /paypalclaim and refund all and therefor loose all

happens to us all one day
like in an actual shop..sometimes a thief walkes in

tip..make a picture of all items spread out before sending

And the plume that’s used is used in a minifigure, so the 3 parts can’t be replaced
by the sprue in the inventory because they are not together.
But a Sealed New set would have the sprue, not the 3 separate parts.
And a Used set only needs the one that’s in the minifigure.
These plumes are a pain for the catalogue.

The problem is the catalogue “only” describes what’s in a set (what TLG put there),
it’s not here to explain what should be in an item for sale on BL, either New
or Used.
As Yorbrick said, “what’s needed to build the set” is not in the catalogue… but
it’s what BL want you to sell when you sell a set.  So people use the inventory…
with “known” exceptions.

This is where the catalogue rules beats common sense. The inventory is no longer
what a customer can necessarily expect to get when they purchase a (used) because
those "extra", unnecessary for the build parts are not extras but regular parts.
Just because they happened to be supplied on a sprue with the necessary parts
and not removed before distribution.

It is indeed Lego, and quite uncommon, but does not belong to any particular
part.

Yes, that is what happens. When payment is made the buyer is charged the VAT
amount (or, if in the USA, the sales tax amount) in addition to the order total.
That amount is then removed from the PayPal payment as the "partner fee"

Ah yes, sorry, I was somehow totally blind to this part.  Brainfart.

It's a bit of a mess.

BrickLink collects the VAT the buyer paid. You do not receive it. BrickLink will
transfer it to the proper tax authorities.

Are you concerned as to whether you’re paying fees (BL and PP) based on payment
received totals that include third-party (BL) collected and remitted VAT?

I don't get the example you just gave me. Those two items, 4502a and 4502c
are listed as regular items. Why would I not include them when building that
particular set? Are you telling me that there are parts in Regular Items that
are not used in any of the models? Then why would they be listed as regular items
at all?

The set in question originally came with three plumes on a single sprue, but
only one of those plumes was actually used in the building of the set:

[P=4502c01,1]

There was once the idea of moving the figs to the counterpart section, and putting
in the set inventory actually what was inside the set.

This is what defines a complete used set from the administration's perspective.
It is not defined by the regular itmes section of the BrickLink set inventory.

So for example, if someone reports your used complete listing as a violation:

Set No: 6277 Name: Imperial Trading Post
*
6277-1 (Inv) Imperial Trading Post
570 Parts, 9 Minifigures, 1992
Sets: Pirates: Pirates I: Imperial Guards
we will not remove it simply because it is missing the two plumes that are not
used in the build:

Part No: 4502a Name: Minifigure, Plume Feather Small
*
4502a Minifigure, Plume Feather Small
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear Accessory {White}

Part No: 4502c Name: Minifigure, Plume Feather Large
*
4502c Minifigure, Plume Feather Large
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear Accessory {White}

You're making things too complicated for me to understand. I just need a
simple answer. All I need to know is, can I just use the "Regular Items" section
of the Set Inventory to build a complete set and then sell it on your platform
or not? Or do I need to refer to some other inventory list to complete the set?

I don't get the example you just gave me. Those two items, 4502a and 4502c
are listed as regular items. Why would I not include them when building that
particular set? Are you telling me that there are parts in Regular Items that

  Hello,
I just started going through some old Lego stuff, and I happened to find a couple
minifigs for INSANE prices.

I saw one shop selling Watto sw0038 (new) for $300?! The lowest I saw for it
was around $50.

Does anyone out there actually want these?

I think it has this price now because from 2001 to 2016 it was the only minifig

Are they secretly filled with unicorn blood?

How does the market value work? Is there a weird demand for these? I mean...
I didn't even know the other thing was called Beedo sw0979. Fifty bucks for
that, too?

Someone help me understand.

Also, happy to sell/trade!

Do we know how often the Regular section does not coincide with the list of parts
necessary for (all) the build(s)?

I know there’s the plumes, which, being on a sprue and used in Minifigs, are
a pain to catalogue.
There’s also the plates round 1x1 on their sprues.  By their being replaced by
the pair on sprue in inventories lately, we¹ lose the information about how many
were Extra.
I guess there’s other parts on sprue or bags (tools…) in the same situation.
Hmm, that’s already a not so small list… but are there more cases?

There are several (older) sets with additional parts which are only shown on
the box but not in the instructions. And a few sets which have additional parts
for unknown reasons.
Just a few examples...
