Should be there, might be called additional charges #2. Shows on invoices as
sales tax.

In Suggestions, NewTown_Bricks writes:

Alas, it is not.

For those of us that collect sales tax, having that field in the order download
spreadsheet would be extremely helpful, along with the street address and city/zip
code. All of this information is required when filing sales taxes in NY.

Thank you for all you do!

"Sounds like a lot of work? You are probably losing money too. The average
sold price is lower than it should be because so many incomplete sets are being
sold as complete. If sellers saw the real average price they would set their
prices higher and Bricklink would benefit from the higher commission.""

Same for boxes of minifigs where SETS instead of boxes are listed, causing an
average price for the boxes far too low.

You can find that information on this page:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1562

The standard is that the most commonly-appearing part is the regular and the
less-common part is the alternate. I believe this standard was enacted to make
errors less likely when parting out sets.

However, I'm rather dissatisfied with that standard because it's somewhat
difficult to know which version of a part appeared more frequently, especially
for older sets. I'd prefer to see the variation which appeared first listed
as regular and any later variations listed as an alternates.

I don't really keep track of that. You can find the information here, though:

It looks like the most recent day with no inventory requests approved was February
7th.

an exercise in probability anyway, then it becomes a matter of faith to consider
any extra part. Which ones do you choose to validate/discard, then?

I'm not sure I would consider it an inconsistency. It's more of a general
misunderstanding of the purpose of the Extra Items section of an inventory.
This section exists to make it easier to deal with potentially-appearing
extras when parting out sets.

When extras are added to inventories only after being verified as appearing in
brand new sets, then I think the extras section is reliable enough to fulfill
its purpose. What I'd like to avoid are extras submitted because 49 sets
contained the extra so it is assumed the 50th must, too. I gathered this was
the approach you might be taking with the red 3070b, which is why I questioned
you on the white lever.

As for which extras are approved or not approved, I admit that there are few
ways to verify the veracity of these types of requests. I look at the totality
of the circumstances and make a decision.

For example, I submit to you that not a single set from my childhood, no matter
how small, came with a solitary lever in it

This is a good observation, but a small sample size and likely only representative
of a single area of production. Nevertheless, I agree that some extras are nearly
guaranteed to appear in a set no matter when or where it was purchased. And
you finding extra levers in all of those new sets means that every set in which
you found an extra lever should have the extra listed as such in the inventory.

I do not add what I am not sure of.

Thank you for that.

Your request has been approved.

I try to keep one inventory change request for each day. How many days in a row
we have got inventory change requests now?

This set is from 1983 so the early version hinges were used.

Otherwise, this blogger did our job easier. He opened a sealed set and took photos

If you use translater, he states that the bags were sealed (except some bigger
parts that did not come in a bag)
https://steinwurf.wordpress.com/2014/07/19/bahnhof-7824/

The relevent photos are (photos 1-3 attached):
https://steinwurf.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/7824-01.jpg

https://steinwurf.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/7824-04.jpg

We can see all red hinges and half of black hinges in the photo.
Note that this is not the earliest release of this set, even if the clips 4081a
are the earlier version. The earliest release of this set had a different kind
of box (4th photo attached):

That sounds a little vague. Are you absolutely sure the set included an extra
lever?

Absolutely sure, regarding the lever (which I kept as the car radio antenna from
the day I got the MISB set until last December, when it was taken off for display).
My set was never - ever - mixed.
I was admittedly vague regarding the aforementioned red tile - please see below.

there was an extra red 3070b in this set. Is it consistent with LEGO extra-part policy at the time?

As far as I'm aware, there was and is no official LEGO extra-part policy
(although I'm willing to admit that such a policy may exist).

Extras can vary by region and date of manufacture. Some occur with far greater
reliability than others, but none should be assumed to be included just because
they came in every other set released.

That's why extras should only be added to an inventory when a member has
found them in a brand new set.

That is precisely why I did not add the red tile. I vaguely remember one kept
inside the grey suitcase, but it wasn't there now. Did I take it out long
ago? Did it fell? Was it ever even there? Not sure, ergo - not added.
If anything, take my comment as a "heads up" to anyone about to engage in the
more or less improbable exercise of doing a repeat inventory of this 30-year-old
MISB set

I notice however an inconsistency in your last paragraph: if there is never
a 100% reliable way to know which extras come in which set, and it is
an exercise in probability anyway, then it becomes a matter of faith to consider
any extra part. Which ones do you choose to validate/discard, then?
For example, I submit to you that not a single set from my childhood, no matter
how small, came with a solitary lever in it; let's say the universe is 50
sets with levers. Thus (and feel free to correct my rusty statistical skills)
I'm fairly sure it's more unlikely to have been a simple coincidence
than to have been an "undeclared policy".
One can refute such claim rather easily - provide one MISB set from the
mid- to late-eighties with no extra levers. From a philosophical POV, it is enough
to deny my inference, and I'll gladly yield. And consider myself blessed
for all those levers I shouldn't have gotten

Again, I maintain that I do not add what I am not sure of. This particular lever
DOES appear in my set as extra. The above consideration is not to be understood
as more than an invitation for reflection, regarding the inevitable uncertainty
around extras.

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 6590 Name: Vacation Camper
*
6590-1 (Inv) Vacation Camper
100 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 1988
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Traffic

* Add 1 Part 4592c02 White Lever Small Base with Black Lever (Extra)

Comments from Submitter:
I seem to recall there was an extra red 3070b in this set, along with this lever. Is it consistent with LEGO extra-part policy at the time?

Yes.
Open a WL.
Click “More Options” next to its search field.
Right column, “Items for Sale Options:” click “Show” and look at the options
below, especially the sorting option as by “Store Name” is the stupid and useless
default.
Then click “Apply”.

Note that there’s a “Best Price” sorting option next to “Lowest” and “Highest”
but no one knows what that means.

I hope your not suggestion that BL do a sweep by checking each and every listing
of every set listed by every seller or even just the least expensive listing
of each and every set? If you are then that would take so much time and effort
that it would be, well for lack of a better word, ridiculous. If I have miss
understand you then I apologize.

Jim

Yes all of them - I was thinking of a database query and automated email or
something like that. But really I was just venting some frustration. I know Bricklink
isn't going to do anything about this.

Hi,

Thank you!

I don’t want to open a can of worms here, but I think this is a valid suggestion.

Can BL create a fourth entry for a set where is states:

‘Set Entry | Instructions Entry | Original Box Entry’

to become

‘Set Entry | Minibuild Entry | Instructions Entry | Original Box Entry’ ?

The ‘Minibuild Entry’ would contain the valid minibuilds (new and used) from
a set. Sellers are selling minibuilds anyway under 'Set Entry' as new-incomplete
and used-incomplete with the minibuld definition the description.

Separating out the minibuilds would...
- clean up the 'Set Entry';
- improve average pricing effectiveness;
- create an additional avenue for buyers and sellers

6872-1 (Inv) Lunar Patrol Craft
62 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 1985
Sets: Space: Classic Space

* Change 2 Part Light Gray {4085b Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Vertical - Type 2 (thin U clip) to 4085a Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Vertical - Type 1 (thin open O clip)}

Comments from Submitter:
Based on my own copy of the set (acquired in late 1986). None of my sets dated before 1987 ever had any "type 2", although perhaps they could have been alternates in sets with longer production runs.

Hi

Set was available till 1987.
Maybe type 2 came in the last run?
Same for the 4081a or -b part.

Best to have both in the set, first the -a and as alternate the -b type.

Part 4276a and -b already in inv.
