out of curiosity is this related to the "re-platforming" mentioned several
times?
out of curiosity is this related to the "re-platforming" mentioned several
times?
Tangentially. We have plans to rebuild the BrickLink platform in the near future
and will engage with all of our members when that process begins. However, this
downtime is scheduled for backend maintenance and will not affect the appearance
or operation of the website.

Good to hear.
Currently dreading the day of the appearance overhaul.
I received an email about this in my email that is linked to my Bricklink account.
Did it go to your spam folder by chance?
Erm - I'm a pro; no.
Even Pro's make mistakes sometimes.
Sylvain talks about it every time he can, so he tends to not repeat the details
Luckily I'm not so old yet
The thing is, once, and I think it was about something unrelated to BL, he told
mailchimp to forget about his e-mail address. And they did 🤷♂️
Exactly - that was like 4 yrs ago or such, and IIRC.
I went on their website and tried to resubscribe but it doesn't work like
this, you just can't, it's the sender who has to resubscribe you or such,
and AFAIK.

Perhaps a possible solution could be to change the email on your bricklink account
and then wait like 72 hours then change it back to your current one

Oh that'd make a total mess here
Plus it's not sure BrickLink would 'register' this change is such
a short delay and 'subscribe' me for the next e-mails...

Can you please write to bricklink@support.lego.com about this issue? We'll
try to manually re-subscribe you.

Also, nice to read maintenance is on PDT time while BrickLink's on EDT -
while accessorily I'm on WTH timezone.

Could that be changed to a time when we have the lowest traffic on the website?
When my company takes down our main website we always do it during the lowest
traffic time of the website, typically 2am-4am Central for our company.
What changes should we expect from this outage? Are only tech debt items being
handled? Moving servers? Enhance security features? What is the outage for?

But it looks like it is.
Also, they may not be able to make evolutions during plain night, especially
if part of the ITs / concerned staff are sleeping or not quickly available...

My company typically has outages from 2am-5am to avoid impacting our customers.
The IT staff shifts their work hours to best serve our customers. It can and
should be done. No other eCommerce site has a planned outage for 7+ hours in
the middle of the day.

Do remember that BL is a global platform. 9am - 4pm PDT would be 4pm - 11pm GMT,
and even later in the evening for most of the EU. Australia and eastern Asia
will have the maintenance during the night. Depending on where the majority of
BL traffic comes from, the maintenance window may not be "in the middle of
the day" at all.

I am aware it is a global e-commerce website, but just based on the US shop count,
I suspect that the majority of the sales are US-based, thus the middle of the
night for the USA would be the less busy hours.

It makes the most sense to have the workers work their normal shift. This site
is worldwide, and gets far more traffic outside the USA than I think you realize.
Especially from Europe.
Its one day, actually not even one day. I'm sure everyone will survive.

Depends what the middle of the day is?
It'd be you I'd try to impact the less clients and orders.
So maybe it's not USA time that counts here?
(I don't know I didn't make stats)
