Hi,

As a classic space fan I regularly come across white and red classic space astronauts
which have yellow hands. These minifigs are not in the catalogue, but I see them
often enough to believe they are not modified.

Does anybody have more information about those astronauts? I've never seen
the black and blue astronauts with yellow hands..

Thanks, F.J.

The only Classic Space torso to come with yellow hands is the all yellow one.
Some kids just love swapping hands for some reason. Torsos from Classic Space
sets always came with hands that matched the arms and torsos.

There is a keychain that's a Classic Space figure with yellow hands:

Gear No: KC100 Name: Classic Space White Figure Key Chain
*
KC100 Classic Space White Figure Key Chain
Gear: Key Chain: Space: Classic Space
Keychains don't necessarily reflect a configuration that came in sets, but
the idea does at least have some precedence. Classic Space was also a theme that
was rushed into production, so it might be possible that LEGO didn't have
enough time to produce other color hands for an early production run.

I'm used to keychain MFs having the chain connected at the top of their heads.
Where does that one connect?

The chain is attached to the back of the head. That was one of the early styles:

One other thought that occurs to me is that the Jim Spaceborn comics also depict
space figures as having yellow hands, but the only thing is that it seems like
the keychains predate the comics.

Thanks for that great photo reference! When I saw the yellow hands in Jim Spaceborn,
I just assumed that they had taken their gloves off.

I have had hands on an absurd amount of Classic space over the years.

They do not come that way. Ever. It's kids

Thanks all, I'll accept the hand swapping explanation and start looking for
white and red hands to bring them back in original configuration.
