Can't upload io file to create a Wanted List.

Everytime I try to upload an .io file to created a wanted parts list, the file
is accepted but when I press on Procced to Verify, it loops there forever. It
does not show the part list and is waiting forever...

I can't edit my previous reply. I meant to say that from Studio the Add to
Wanted list option doesn't work either, doesn't open a new page/tab in
a browser.

Can confirm the Verify just sits there spinning when uploading an .io file to
a new list.

Still today?  Exporting/uploading from Studio works fine for me.

Using the Upload page and giving it a .io file works too.

I have the same problem.

From Stud.io software, all I get is an annoying spinning wheel.
I left it for 2 hrs after it timed out.

If i upload my *.io file to the website, the "Brose Files" button changes
to "Uploading" but nothing else happens.

Maybe this is related to the changed of "format" in the website. I see
a new 'skin' to handle Wanted Lists and so on. One which has exactly
the same features as before but that is much more difficult to handle and annoying
to use. I hope they go back to the previous one and improve it. Instead of moving
things around and killing usability

Are you logged in Studio with “stay signed in”?
If so have you tried logging out and then in again?
(I guess you would have had to do that after changing your password but maybe
not.)

Also, are you logged in in the browser already when you try from Studio?  (It’s
not, or rather was not, necessary but trying to find if something changed there.)

Then there may be something wrong between the website and your browser.
What’s your browser and operating system?

Oh, and are they recent .io files?  Saved with the latest Studio version (2.23.10(1))?
(Again, it shouldn’t matter but….)

The look hadn’t changed for a long time.  It’s been basically the same since
the “new” WL in 2016 and since they added the ability to upload other file formats
than XML.
I think they changed (harmonized) the fonts not long ago but that’s hardly perceptible.

I was going to ask if you used Classic (pre-2016) but you can only copy-paste
XML with Classic, not upload .io files.  So I don’t see what you’re referring
with that “new skin.” 🤔

Checked this. Not the problem. I can log in via web and via Stud.io. No problem.
It's only the "upload" function that doesnt work.

I haven't changed absolutely anything. The Stud-io was updated before the
hack and I upload several files and after the hack it's not working
Nothing has changed in my setup. I'll try deleting all temp files in my computer
and browser and try again

Certainly I used the latest version and these are files I finished today. We'll
see.

After the hack and reset of my password I entered to check a couple of wanted
lists and the web has changed. I have a "Beta" logo showing and the lists
remain the same, basically, but many functions have been moved. THe liast of
wanted lists is permanently on the right (kind of floating) and it's quite
annoying since it uses screen space and the font is huge, and therefore you cannot
see too much info properly. I know I can change font size in my own computer,
but the new layout (hiding options in submenus within submenus) is quite confusing.
I like thinks simple and usable. I done like fancy transitions, fancy fonts and
menus. But this is just me

Hi,

There appears to be a few misunderstandings.  I’ll just clarify them because
I don’t like letting them stay but you don’t have to answer or act on them
Also see the point about the look at the end.

In Technical Issues, gololo writes:

It's only the "upload" function that doesnt work.

I didn’t mean that was the problem.  I was trying to narrow down the situation
as Xadrian said earlier that Studio didn’t even open a page in the browser and
you said “I’ve the same problem.”
If Studio is not able to open a page in the browser, knowing if (those who have
that problem) were or not already logged in in the browser could change the situation.
Ditto for the password.
But you apparently are not in the exact same situation as Xadrian.

Then there may be something wrong between the website and your browser.

I didn’t mean that you changed something or did something wrong.  I meant
that the website may have changed and that it doesn’t work with your browser/system
anymore while it still works with others (like mine for instance ).
So knowing which browser/system you’re using can help find the problem.

IOW, if the problem is with Edge and the devs test Firefox, they won’t find the
problem.  This is of course a boggus example.  The devs test with multiple browsers
and on macOS and Windows… but maybe not with the same browser/system as you.

  […]
I have a "Beta" logo showing […]

Ah, you’re on XP!
Scroll down and there’s a small “Switch to Classic” link at the bottom to go
back to the normal BrickLink.

When I checked yesterday, I couldn’t find a way to upload a WL on XP, so I thought
there was no new version of the upload page there.

Some pages have 3 versions here!
1. The old “Classic,” mostly written by Dan, with a 1999 look.  (Nothing in the
URL.)
2. The modernized / “normal” version, made in 2016/2017 that most of us use.
(“v2” in the URL.)
3. The “XP” version, written to work on phones or whatever, missing a lot of
features, that no one uses.  (“r3” in the URL.)
(And to add to the confusion, (2) is named “classic” in XP 🙄)

You are trying to upload to the Gallery:

https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/upload.page?target=studio-gallery

But if you want to create a Wanted List you need to upload the file here:

Thanks for the assistance. I used to upload to te Gallery, keep my models private
and generate the wanted lists from there.

In any case, I've tried the second link you provided with a similar result.
The file gets stuck during uploading. The file is accepted (now you can see i'm
building rooms for my Harry Potter castle...) but the verification process never
ends.

I'll try later tonight removing the software, reinstalling from scratch and
clearing temp and browser temp files.

1. Stud.io re-installed
2. Temp files deleted in all browsers

Uploading *.io files results in a spinning wheel.
I have exported .io file to ldraw type and try to upload.

It's coming up with plenty of errors of the type of the image in this post.

Dunno what's going on, I haven't changed any settings in my computer.
It's just not working since I got my password resetted after the hack.

I tried another way: export to XML, open it, copy the text, upload as XML.
This seems to be working, but it's very unconvenient.

Exporting to a WL from Studio does exactly that: it produces the XML and opens
the upload page in your default browser with the XML already pasted.
So it’s weird Studio can’t do it while you can do it manually.

Have you tried a very simple model (a couple 2x4 bricks)?
Can you share one of your models so we can try?

Tried with Google Chrome, Firefox and MS Edge in their latest versions.
Browser was not a problem

I think I found the problem. For the first time, I'm producing instructions.
And I added submodels. As soon as I removed all submodels from the steps... I
can upload my creations no problem.

So I just tried again. What I found was if you try to upload (from Studio) anything
more than 2000 pieces it doesn't work. I had a file that was ~2400 pieces,
didn't open the browser to continue the upload process. I paired it down
to below 2k and it worked fine. So then I just made two files and uploaded the
second into the existing one, just fine.

Double checked by being on the site and uploading an .io file and it worked for
the larger file. So far it's just the call from Studio.

I know I've been able to do that before. I have a stadium model that's
like 4200 pieces and no problem uploading from the software.

I’d say it’s not the number of parts but the number of lots (= number of part+colour
combinations = number of ITEM blocks in the XML).

So, there’s two possibilities:

1. Your stadium model uses fewer lots (many times the same bricks) than the other
models.

2. Something changed and there’s now a limit or the limit was lowered.  There’s
been other such bugs since the blackout.

Soution:
* save your studio file,
* open BrickStore,
* import the studio file,
* export as WL (or save as a file and import this BSX file from your WL)
