| Hi Bricklink,
I've noticed (at least in some countries like Serbia) all the stores that
had a short summer break like in August got closed as of Nov 8th, while having
the old Message from seller back from last summer now reinstated.
This is not how it was when Bricklink resumed operations. Admins did it towards
the end of the day Nov 8th. So all while the sellers are waiting to have their
access validated and reinstated, those who went on holiday in August, but were
back working through September and October are now additionally punished by being
blocked from receiving further orders.
The Serbian seller who was compromised has submitted something to Bricklink,
but couldn't be processed until Nov 8th EOB. Meanwhile all other sellers
from the country were punished for closing for legit summer breaks and now got
mass closed. Business hours have now started outside America, legit sellers now
can't process their order backlog, can't receive new orders and have
no support.
I mean, using a summer break closure as a criterion for preemptively closing
stores pending verification seems to be an overkill.

Closed stores can process existing orders.

There are stores that are not suspended, but closed thru administrative action
(by reinstating the historical message from seller from the last summer). Those
sellers can't access their own closed stores.
Compromised stores are suspended and cannot be accessed before BrickLink approves
the seller's feedback. But there are stores that historically closed for
the summer break, these were also forced back into closure by administrative
action (by reinstating the last message from seller) and those sellers are also
locked out of their stores before BrickLink reviews their feedback, even though
they are not in suspended status!
As I said, the ugly part is that they were locked out yesterday and left to languish
like that as of now, while America is sleeping. Not nice at all!

It’s prudence.
What would you say if one of those stores was actually compromised and left open?
The whole site was closed for 5 days while only a very small number of accounts
were compromised.

No, it is not.
Prudence is to lock out the owners of currently closed stores, because they are
not likely to quickly react and review the integrity of their stores.
Prudence IS NOT to lock out the owners of stores that used to be closed BACK
IN AUGUST for a summer break, but who have been continuously working in September
and October!
Those guys have promptly filled out the forms to regain their stores, but they
were no one's priority until yesterday the 8th EOB.

| I also wonder whether the issues I report are present globally.
For instance, there was also a compromised store in France. Are all the french
sellers who temporarily closed for a vacation back in August also locked out
of their stores now?

The independent action of closing stores was done simply to prevent something
happening to the store while the owner was locked out due to password issues
and other account access issues stemming from our recent security upgrades. Not
everybody had to go through New Seller Verification.

Hello, thanks for the comment. I get it, some store owners were initially locked
out and closing their stores afterwards was to prevent additional confusion.
Still, it seems to me that the history of closing for this summer vacation played
some role in selection for the security measures, otherwise there would be no
message from seller to display at a closed store.
It would be great to ease the New Seller Verification for those who were briefly
closing for vacation but were actively attending their stores in September and
October without having been broken into.
If not, I just hope you will find ways to tackle the backlog of locked out store
owners who promptly reported to Bricklink as requested.
