Hi there,

A question. I store my Lego in boxes sometimes not in bags. Sometimes I have
to search for items, so I touch my new bricks more then ones. Now I have a client
who is not happy with the Lego I have sent him. He says it is not new, he can
see fingerprints and scratches. All my Lego is new, never used, but touched sometimes
a lot of times. Almost every piece comes from a a set. Is this Lego second hand,
or new? What would you say to your client?

Greetings Erik

for reference this

"Parts are brand new, taken directly from new sets or were purchased "as
new" in another form such as accessory packs or Pick A Brick and have been
handled only for sorting. These parts have never been used in any manner. If
a minifigure or part assembly was originally sold assembled by LEGO, its component
parts after disassembly can also be listed as new."

New is not the same as mint. There will even be some small scratches as bricks
tumble against each other during production, packing and shipping. A seller can
take some precautions to reduce the amount of scratches, but avoiding them completely
is impossible.

As buyer, I don't expect sellers to wear gloves so they don't leave fingerprints.
I most cases, a part must be pretty new and shiny before the fingerprints even
show up. Then they can be simply wiped off also.

Why not change your practices so that issues like this do not occur?

If you have one complaint, there are five more people who will not complain but
will add you to their least favorite list and never buy from you again. This
will severely limit your success in this marketplace.

If it was me, I would do the following.

1.) Offer the customer a significant refund, so I didn't get another negative
feedback.

2.) Close my store down and perform a quality audit. Non-mint items would be
changed to used or have a note in bold attached detailing that they were "seconds".

3.) Change my procedures for handling and storing items.
