I might have 'mis-represented' the condition of a set I just sold. I
say 'might' simply to give the buyer the benefit of the doubt. Instead
of reaching out, the buyer opted to put a negative review instead. It's rather
annoying as, it is the first time I get a 'complaint'.
Can this be 'undone' ?

I'm not sure his claims are 100% correct as I typically check the condition
of the parts a 100%, but ok. He's the 'customer'.

Any thoughts?

In fact, it was his first time buying from BrickLink, and guys, I might have
spoiled it for all of you ... as he's never again setting foot in this
place.

Try resolving it with the buyer. Keep your messages nice don’t leave retaliatory
feedback and offer a return and hopefully then they will remove their feedback
if you ask nicely

Thank You. Can a negative feedback be removed?

I have had many negative/neutral feedbacks. This is what I do:
- Hopefully I have the missing/broken parts, otherwise I try to purchased them
from a local store (to receive them that I know to make sure I would receive
them fast). I contact the buyer with a photo of missing parts and write something
like
"My apologies you are disappointed. Unfortunately mistakes happen when dealing
with many Lego bits, but I think the best thing to do is to contact seller first
and give a chance to correct mistakes. Unfortunately your feedback make it like
I did not try to resolve issues of your order and other buyers would consider
my store as bad as those who don't care about their customers...

In the feedback you left, you mentioned few parts are missing. Please see the
photo attached and let me know if these photos resolve all issued in your order.
If so, I will promptly send them to you. If you would like to order any other
parts, please take a look at my store and I an send them along with the missing
parts with free shipping, up to 80gr..."
-Once they received it, I send another email and ask them if they are satisfied
and if so, if they don't mind leave a constructive feedback.
and I give them the link to remove the feedback.

dangerous claiming your parts are in 100% condition... you are basically saying
your parts are flawless, which is pretty much impossible.

New vs 100% flawless are 2 completely different things

that "might" might be worth noting

Yep, plenty of thoughts. But first let me say that I feel for you. These things
have the ability to take the wind out of the sails of the conscientious individual,
if you let it.

Some sellers have been convinced early in the e-commerce game, that it’s on them
to absorb any hits that can stem from what are essentially structural weaknesses
within many rating processes. I can only assume, in order for e-commerce pioneers
such as eBay and PayPal or the like, to have that facet of their business
model run somewhat smoothly (at least function) while expending as little as
possible towards it.

The early mindset of ”Okay, it’s not the greatest system we’ve implemented,
but you sellers go ahead and handle that for us. We wouldn’t want to bother those
buyers we’re trying to attract would we

That despite the countless anecdotes and continuously heard woes regarding the
“undesired buyer” associated with post payment troubles, stories which most here
could share but haven’t, we still have vendors that support and even promote
the over-simplistic thinking that is: a buyer’s obligations in a transaction
end with payment made. Therefore positive feedback should be given the to buyer
if payment is received in a timely manner. Full stop

It's a persistent echo of an earlier e-commerce ideology, as I see it. An
attitude established by the eBays and PayPals of the world, of weighting heavily
and disproportionately on the buyers side, irrespective presented facts. A practice
that should be viewed as vestigial by now, but instead is maintained by some
that just can't change how they've always done it. All in my humblest
of opinions, as usual

Just long held thoughts and nothing more. Don’t care that much about such things
nowadays for it to be any more, thankfully.

We need two forums here, one where "Positive Sellers" can support "Buyers"
of the community with good content and another for everything else.

Thank you guys. I appreciate all the feedback. I gave him a 50% refund and absorbed
all fees/taxes with BL and Paypal. ... Some days are better than others. Feedback
is way more important that the discount. But ok, hopefully he learned his lesson
and won't go 'trigger-happy' next time. We're all humans, we
make mistakes.

Feedback is way more important that the discount.

True. Foremost for the ability to sell. But beyond that, unless feedback is the
reason you do it, profitability is more important to stay afloat. Otherwise how
will you continue the lessons

But ok, hopefully he learned his lesson and won't go 'trigger-happy' next time.

Hopefully indeed. But what other lesson might've been imparted to the first
time buyer with the payoff? Let's be as another in this thread phrased it
a "positive seller" and assume it's not also how to extort? Half-price
is motivation enough for some.

We're all humans, we make mistakes.

Something about "To err is human, to forgive is divine"

Glad you nonetheless were able to resolve it to your satisfaction
