Hi everyone,

I had a buyer buy a sealed battle of the black gate from me. Payment went smooth
especially since it was his first buy, I communicated every step with him and
shipped his package off within 24 hours. Upon delivery he was not at home and
since it was a $500 set I added the signature option, it was then taken to the
nearest Canada post awaiting his pickup. I followed up with him sending 3 separate
Bricklink messages letting him know that he had to pick it up, I used both Bricklink
and his email. after 14 days he didnt pick it up and its now on its way back
to me. Am I liable for the 40$ of return shipping and should issue him a full
refund or what is my move from here, he still hasn't contacted me as of now.

Thanks for the help!

He didn't read any of my messages, even from the very start, I suppose he
just sent the payment and didn't bother to follow the tracking number or
anything

Did you add his email address to the label so that he receives notifications
from CanadaPost?

You can only see if they read it on bricklink. They could have read the copies
of the messages in their email. I frequently delete apparently unread messages
as I already read them in my email.

It sounds like you did everything you could on your end of the transaction.
I would say that you should not be liable for the shipping, and if a refund is
done, you should only refund the order total and tax. However, I do not know
what rules may bind you in this situation since I do not know the rules for such
occurrences in Canada, so I can only offer my opinion.

Hi,

I don’t know the Canadian rules but I’d say: don’t do something that was not
in your terms when the order was made.

That’s how it works in EU: the seller can charge return shipping, they can charge
a restocking fee too (if other conditions are met), but only if it’s in the ToS/contract
before the order.

You will also want to check PayPal’s terms for Canada: if the buyer can claim
a full refund, it may cost you more in the end than just the shipping.

You cannot know if he didn't read them, as they could have read the email
copy. You can only if he did read them (or at least clicked on it, even then
they might not have read it).

It seems to me that something may have happened to the buyer, To spend so much
money and not even question not receiving it, especially after a few weeks.

You never know. It may be that something serious happened, or they didn't
get an undelivered card, or they just didn't want it after all and refused
it. It is frustrating for the seller, but shows why such packages should always
have a return address.

I dont think anyting happened to him, since then he ordered another package accoring
to his feedback going up, I just recieved the package back and the box is still
ok so thats good, hopefully he reaches out at some point, Also responding to
the old messages I did send him an email as well as like 5 bricklink messages,
and Canada post should have left a card at the door. Guess nothing to do now
but wait
