As a seller, I received two emails overnight from buyers of mine who both claim
that the items they received are not the entire order they placed. The order
page, package contents, and PayPal payment all match so nothing was missed on
the seller's end. However both buyers say that there are items they remember
ordering (and paying for?) which did not appear on the order page or, of course,
in the package they received from me.

Now I'm pretty quick to assume they just didn't successfully click "add
to cart" or maybe they were doing it all on the terrible mobile version of
the site. But having two buyers in the same day tell me that I omitted a portion
of their order with no evidence of such leads me to believe that maybe there
is a system problem.

As far as I'm concerned, x, Y, & Z were ordered and X, Y, & Z were paid for,
shipped, and delivered. However this back and forth could definitely lead to
distaste for the BrickLink platform. Has anyone else received messages from their
buyers like this or has anyone placing an order not had all of the items they
believed to have purchased appear on their order page?

There is nothing you can do. Buyer is responsible for ensuring that their cart
contains all items that it should contain when progressing through the checkout
procedure.

If these buyers don't think all items got added to their cart successfully
then they can only file a Help Desk support ticket. Seller is not responsible
for items that did not successfully make it into the buyer's cart before
checkout is complete.

If both buyers were ordering the same items at the same time, then that might
cause an issue with successfully adding items to their shopping cart. Sometimes
there are BrickLink issues that cause delays in properly updating carts, or the
buyer has more than one cart open and may have added items to the wrong cart.

What you can do about it is offer a coupon if you feel you must. But that's
up to you and should not be misconstrued by the buyer as a reward or refund of
any kind for not getting all the items they think they have ordered.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Cheers ...

Maybe look back at order date / time to see if BL downtime was the issue. There
are 4 related post describing the problems experienced on Aug. 17th.

Are they new?

I had a new buyer who downloaded some instructions from Rebrickable and followed
the link from there to buy whatever of the required parts I had available. They
thought that they'd ordered everything they needed and it was only when their
son went to start building that they realised they hadn't.

Yes, that could be due to (silent) conversion/uploading errors or, more probably,
to the usual problem with EasyBuy / Auto-select: they show “100%” (or more!)
when there’s parts missing (because of bulk lots).

I’d have hoped that would eventually be fixed with the MOC Pop-up Shop… but it
should use another buying process (with new errors, because new code… and old
errors too, because copy-pasting…).

My buyer was inexperienced. They didn't even realise they were using two
different sites, they thought they'd downloaded the instructions from BrickLink.

Oh, I see: helping by linking/interfacing with BL blurred the lines.

I fear MOC Pop-up Store will do that even more (and not only by adding PaB):
at least, when a buyer said they are buying from some instructions they bought,
you could be 99% sure they didn’t buy the instructions on BL.

Well, there’s also buyers who don’t understand BL is not a unique seller, and
it’s not as if the marketplace model was new
