hi, am wuite new to bricklink, but I see on the pages a "wanted list"
and the number of people who have a set or minifigure on that wanted list

Is there a tool which matches you with the buyers who have something on a wanted
list when you advertise?

do they get a notification when you list something they have as "wanted"

If not, why not, surely they are missing a trick here ! would make for much faster
sales.

many thanks

When you add stock to your store there is a 'send out wanted list notification'
button.

As a buyer you can opt to be notified when sellers list items on your wanted
lists.

Matt

thanks a lot, I see I have done that (sometimes), and whilst it says 4000 have
the item on the wanted list, only one notification is sent presumably because
we are limiting our shipping to UK only

Is there a GDPR or other reason why they cant share interest parties USer ID
to make direct approaches?

Any other helpful selling tips would be gratefully received...! so much cheaper
than EBAY here ! their fees are extortionate when you add promotion, its around
25% in total.

Sending you contact details of users who match your parts on their wanted lists
would definitely be a huge data breach.

If your store has a decent range and attractive prices, buyers will find you
quickly enough.

As Matt said, it’s opt-in.  And one generally don’t want notifications for common
parts: imagine receiving 200 mails a day for a white 1x1 brick

Also, the notifications are limited to buyers you ship to and to the criteria
in the WL: obviously item, colour, and condition, but also quantity and max price.

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=3

Your notifications will reach more buyers when they’ll match more critera.
And buyers will find your store in other ways: by actively looking for stores
that would fulfill their WLs (Buy page / EasyBuy).
So add more parts (both variety and quantity) and have good prices and they’ll
come.

Off the top of my head: privacy, preventing flooding/spam, preventing making
deals outside of BrickLink….

As it works now, buyers get notified only when they want to be, and that’s a
good thing.
That “opt-in” policy predates GDPR/CCPA because BL is smart

OK Thanks all, and I understand all the points you are making

We (my son and I ) have nice items for sale, some rare complete sets, and good
condition minifigures from many retired sets. we don't sell pieces.

For example we currently have both Boba Fett Slave I 20th anniversary and Kylo
Ren Tie Fighter 20th Anniversary, we are undercutting the average price shown
on BK substantially. Anyone with this on their wanted list would want to know
about it trust me , so to me this lack of ability to contact ppl who want this
stuff is disappointing.

Then I guess you didn’t get how notifications work because they do what you want:
send the message that you have the sets to the people who have the items on their
wanted lists.

The only difference with what you want is that it’s done as an opt-in from the
buyers and without walking all over their privacy.
So if people really would want to know you have the sets, they have their notification
on and received the message.
If they don’t receive your notification, it’s because they don’t want it.  Forcing
it on them won’t help anyone.
