Hi all

Just wondered about the Distance Selling rules that are in place since July 2021

We started out with a rolling agenda, every month looking back 12 months, and
if the sale exceeded 10.000 euro, we had to register for OSS.

I know the rules have changed from rolling calendar to a yearly check, but is
it now safe to say that your counter resets every January 1st?

I did not sell a lot last year because I closed the store, but can I assume my
counter for Distance Selling is back to 0 now?

And why does Bricklink apply these rules when having such a poor customer support
at this point?

There is still no easy way to see if you have reached the 10.000 euro threshold.
The rules are in place for more than 1.5 years, but still no proper tools for
us as sellers.

Come on Lego, you can do better, you take our fees….. so do something in return!!!!

Be cool and have fun

They aren’t rules, they are laws.  As such, BrickLink has to apply them,
wether BL has the means or not to help / explain / follow-up on the application.

Presumably because it is a law.

As for the accounting, can't you just add up the numbers you require?

You can download your orders for a given time periode of from a specific date.
The accumulated data in it will tell you if you have gone through the 10K barrier
or not.

It's there, you just have to look for it .

Wouldn't you just download your order data periodically? Personally I create
an entry in a Google sheet for every order I receive - I'm not in the EU,
but it's helpful for tax purposes here in the USA. That said you can download
your order data (but not details except for the last six months) for as far back
as you'd like to go:

I don't get why the rules need to be so complex...
Why they need the whole "if you sell more than $x per year, different rules
apply" stuff is beyond me, isn't the marketplace already collecting the
VAT and handing it off to the tax man already?

As I already explained it to you 2 month ago¹, no, the marketplace doesn’t collect
VAT inside the EU.

The threshold is essentially when you become a "big business" selling
huge volumes across borders and need to account for VAT differences in those
countries properly.
