I do not want to alienate anyone here, just asking some hopefully legitimate
questions.

There are a couple of stores in China who have very interesting parts, and one
begs to wonder if those are legit or copycats.

Any one has experience ordering parts from that part of the world?

If by "interesting" you mean rare and/or expensive, then I would advise
you to check the seller's recent feedback before buying, no matter where
in the world they are located. In particular, look for complaints about f'legos.

I've ordered from Asia a few times, no complaints here. Do be advised that
transit times from that part of the world can be considerable. After all, there
is an ocean between us.

I’m still convinced that’s some form of Mexican food

I'm also concerned about different part variation, in one such case the 2012
deadpools head. Someone made a bunch illegally in a factory in China and spread
them throughout the market. I don't want to buy "real" Lego figures
made by someone without permission.

Was it proven they were made illegally? Even if they were just like the Mexico
factory it’s not possible to tell them apart at all so there isn’t much that
can be done about it

Actually the funny part is they used the wrong head mould. They used blocked
open stud instead of hollow which is why we have 2. And yes it was proven that
someone had used the machines after certain times of production. Maybe it was
a video not an article....

How would the use the wrong head type since he is already know to come with both
types? Other head types weren’t in production back then I’m pretty sure

That is why there are 2 head types. There was such a large amount produced and
spread throughout the world. Again, I think. I saw a video or read an article
on this but can't find it. Idk, I used to watch a ton of Lego videos. I still
do just not as much

Except it’s quite normal for figures of that era to have both head types and
I’d be more concerned if it didn’t have both so maybe he was doing everyone a
favour (or maybe that site was made by someone who wasn’t a fan of LEGO
heads that were blocked open cause they didn’t have an easily visible logo and
wanted to stress people out )

Yeah, IIRC, 2012 is around the time the switch from 'b' to 'c'
was made so it shouldn't be surprising that a minifigure from 2012 could
be found with both types.

One big in China has/had a strange process.

They sell on other site(s), so they may not have part or the whole lot you ordered

Communication and comprehension is tough, but good people, just... different.

Apart this, I've had no problem ordering in Asia - or even "rare"
Countries - it may just be a bit more complicated, and longer for sure, but no
more problems (maybe even less) than closer to you.

the only one that's a real concern, for the most part, is the Mexico factory.
that place needs some serious action done by the lego and some legal action done

They seem to be legit, I've never had issues with legitimacy, but the means
of how these parts and such are acquired in such high quantities is the real
question

If you pay attention, a lot of stores around Asia/Europe get high quantities
of minifigs shortly after they're released and don't upload parts from
the sets they belong to, which is what makes me question how they acquire them

It's not mainly EU/Asia though, I've seen it happen with NA as well;
very strange to me

I have seen the same pattern with some stores located close to one of the main
factories in eastern Europe. They had rare parts even before the release of the
set. Now this is forbidden here so this practice stopped. But the same stores
keep getting parts from very new sets very soon after they are released. There
is no way to tell whether these are factory rejects with very minor issues barely
visible or if some factory workers take out parts and sell them through these
stores. Or maybe there is a different explanation. It is hard to know.

Most defects are reused (it depends on the colour and material(s)).

My advice is that if it bothers you then just play it safe.

I've veered away from stores like that just you play it safe, I have a trust
issue. Eventually I might order from one in the future, but currently no.

There are a couple of stores in China who have very interesting parts, and one
begs to wonder if those are legit or copycats.

Any one has experience ordering parts from that part of the world?

I have ordered from two stores in China with positive experience. One order was
some rare minifigure heads in decent quantity at a decent price. The second was
hair combo pieces with some missing paint, so factory rejects. The latter I bought
for making custom figures and these parts were just what I needed for that.
