| I keep my collection of 1000+ figs and parts in inventory records as part of
remark field or stockroom.
This way it's easy to list parts of it for sale or reserve some from for
sale into collection.
Why instead of adding single field like "personal quantity" or "reserve quantity"
they created whole new entity type???

| Probably because it was created for buyers not sellers.
I don't think buyers have access to an inventory.

+1 only sellers have an inventory on bricklink buyers would need to go thru seller
verification in order to get access to inventory otherwise

Exactly.
The old advice was “become a seller and never open your store” but, besides all
the things a seller can do that are unnecessary and cluttery and confusing, and
as you can’t buy from your store, it’s a pain to compare with WLs and pick parts.
Well, you can’t do that with My Collection either… but maybe one day?
