Thanks for sharing this story! It's true American history that we're

I doubt there was any such wealth passed down. He and his sister (my aunt) were
at one time, orphans. He made his money starting from near nothing, my father.

Ah ok, based off your LEGO investing you might be the one to start generational
wealth in your family!

You're right. More correctly put: I've passed my flame to my son and
daughter, who have not wasted any of it. One of the reasons they are my pride
and joy. What I've left is a sputtering pilot light, as it should be I suppose.

How cool! My family history isn't so much a tree, as a bush. I actually have
a Great-Aunt Grandma! Among other oddities, my mother's father was the first
generation of his line born in the US, while my father's side, half came
over 100+ years ago, and the rest were of Mayflower lineage. In fact, my wife
and I come from the same Mayflower family, one child is her lineage, the other
child is mine. Makes my daughter her own 15th cousin or something. And the Mayflower
father? He actually came over twice, once before the Mayflower voyage to set
things up for those coming over to the colony, returned and then came over again
on the Mayflower with his family. Also, my colony family ran a pub, and got in
trouble with the law for selling alcohol outside of hours. Fun stuff, history.

Howdy, cuz! I have at least 8 Mayflower ancestors. Did you know most of the Saints,
or Believers, were related either by blood or marriage?

Although birdbrains generally contain higher numbers of neurons per unit mass
than do our mammalian brains, the synapsis rate is far lower. Especially in today's

In other words, they're not far off that of the Tyrannosaurus Rex the chicken
has claimed as forefather. To me, it's entirely plausible and I really can't
see any point in which to argue

When I was much younger, I believed that it was all about who I was, and who
I wanted to be as an independent person, going my own way.

Now that I am older, the "where I come from" gets stronger and stronger. Roots
become more important, and in the person I've become, I detect more and
more of the people and lives that came before me. I'm not quite the self
made person I thought I was, I'm the inheritor of a multigenerational legacy.

Very rich history
Personally, I believe we are all the same entity - just like a mushroom vein.

I got to know my grandmother. She and I would have long talks at her bedside

There is a connection between us all, I believe. It's in the form of energy

esoteric, though.

The quantum physics and neuroscience have been touched on within various field

when watching it for the first time. It will blow your mind, compelling you to
go further down the rabbit hole

It only takes a minute amount of brain-power to think of how another entity accumulates
your own thought process'
That is infact exactly how you would feel yourself in the exact same situation.

I am totes sporadic in regards to my time habit/s.
I spend atleast twenty times more arranging my parts list/s than I do in this
forum.
If I wasn't infact incumbant, I wouldn't be here.
I don't mind you and/or others time here.
I like it all.
However we have chosen to intersect.

Okay, that I think most understand. But what would give to have back the sum
of all the time you've spent here in the forum? And if you could, what would
you do with that most valuable of asset (time) regained?

My daughter keeps all the family pics of us three, including the all of the digital
video footage I shot throughout their growing-up years. Had this pic on hand,
as it's was recently sent to me.

You and your daughter look like y’all have a very strong relationship! Don’t
lose that. When a relationship is broken, it’s hard to fix it. I know this by
experience.

Btw, strangely enough, that is EXACTLY how I imagined how you’d look!!! 😂😂😂

I find it difficult to smile on cue and not when naturally felt. I could never
be an actor. Though my daughter's got a few of the old man smiling, and that's
good enough for me.

of the 13 was named Elizabeth, my mother’s mother (depicted -center- in the second

My fathers lineage is a California story, well into the 1860s gold rush days.

That’s “where I come from” As to who I might be?

Of the 13 Lester children, Elizabeth (the youngest and my grandmother) made the
decision to break away from the church and move to California. Knowingly becoming
the black sheep of the family, which had to be supremely difficult. There in
California she had two children (girls) my mother being one. Elizabeth carved
out a life for herself and her daughters in southern Calif, becoming Mrs Temple
City among other considerable achievements for women of that time and place.
Dated some politically influential types as well according to my dad.

I got to know my grandmother. She and I would have long talks at her bedside
before she departed. In those talks, my understanding of my mother and her seven
marriages with each of my siblings having different fathers, grew.

I really feel for your grandmother! Breaking away from any church is hard, especially
one that treasures families. She must have really missed her family.

My family is like a tangled bush. We have a few notable people, and a few black
sheep. But most of us are easily missed in the history books.

My father's grandparents were actually 3rd cousins, and did not realize it.
She was a society girl; he was a farmhand with an amputated arm (he lost it when
he got tangled in the weaving machine at age 12; child labor was expected!) The
marriage was strongly discouraged by both families, but they married anyway.
She encouraged him to get an education. He became the first member of the family
on his side to graduate college. His son went on to found and own the Oklahoma
Daily Times newspaper. His son became a teacher and writer. So much good change
came from misfortune!

My parents were born in 1929 and 1930. Dad had 2 working parents, went to day
care, had toys, lived a normal life for a kid. My mom was the offspring of a
scoundrel who was already married, so she was raised by a single mom. She had
1 doll. Her mother went to beauty school, and supported them by having a tiny
salon in their home. A haircut and set, dried and styled, was 25 cents. My grandmother
put a 4 ft square of carpet outside the window of the salon. My mother was 3-5
years old, and forbidden to play with other children, or to step foot off the
carpet.

Mom grew up to be an accomplished woman. From dire poverty, one room school houses,
hand made clothes, she rose to get her MBA and became a CPA at age 50.

Thank you for sharing this family history!
I love family history and I have studied mine a bit.
The most notable piece of family history was the founding of the city of Minot
North Dakota by my great grandfather and his brother. Here is the history of
that.
Erik Reiersen Ramstad (January 17, 1860 – January 21, 1951) was one of the founders
of Minot, North Dakota.

Erik Ramstad was the son of tenant farmer Reier Pedersen and Anne Ellefsdatter.
He was born at Køsahaugen in Sigdal in Buskerud, Norway. Erik left Norway in
1879. His brother Peder followed him to America in 1880, and his mother Anne
and sister Berte followed in 1885.
The brothers were early settlers in the Souris River Valley of North Dakota,
arriving in May 1883. They staked a claim to property on both the north and south
sides of the Souris River. With the coming of the Great Northern Railway during
the summer of 1886, Erik Ramstad agreed to relinquish 40 acres (16 ha) of land
on the south side of the Souris River, retaining sites north of the river. The
Great Northern roundhouse and the Minot business district were both built on
this southern acreage.

Both Erik and Peter Ramstad remained active in the development of Minot. In 1886,
the first Lutheran church service within Minot was held at the Peter Ramstad
home. First Lutheran Church in Minot was built in the early 1900s on land originally
belonging to Erik Ramstad. Erik Ramstad was also involved in local politics for
many years, served as president of the Scandinavian American Bank, and was co-owner
of the Great Northern Lumber Company.

Erik Ramstad later donated part of his remaining property, which became the site
of Minot State University. Erik Ramstad Middle School, originally south of the
MSU campus, but now on the north end of Minot, is named after him.

Thanks for sharing history of your relatives and memories and about you 🙂
My mother's parents lived on an area that once was belonging to Finland but
was later taken away by next door neighbour country. My mother and many of her
siblings were born in different towns in areas still belonging to Finland. Some
in same towns.

My grandmother had her moments of seemingly happy and glad, but not all was happiness.
Her husband died when i was child in a certain age. There is not so much i remember
about him. I wish i would. I still see the photo of him in my mind, even that
i have not looked the photo for longer time. In a way in my mind reminds me of
actor Alec Baldwin.

The house where my grandmother lived was near my childhood home. It had a big
area with grass where i used to play badminton, petanque... There were appletrees,
damson plum trees, blackcurrant, redcurrant, gooseberry for example.

I loved when relatives from bigger towns used to come and visit her, when i met
my cousins. Especially the ones that had English as their mother language. I
loved seeing them, playing games i mentioned earlier, talking in English, going
to candy shop... I got from them a big photo that IS really big... related to
Jean-Michel Jarre.. I recorded music from J-MJ to my tape that they had with
them... Oxygene, Magnetic fields, Equinoxe, Calypso, Revolutions, Rendez-Vous,
Orient Express...

I was already over 30 when i first time travelled to UK, London. I loved it!
I went there a few times. Places like big parks with birds and squirrels. Hamleys,
Madame Tussauds, Natural History Museum, Wetland center in London.. Where i once
went to see birds...

I went to my aunt and met my cousins too a few times. 2015 We went to see statues
of Dragons that were painted so beautiful things on them and then later were
sold for charity.

I loved spending time with my relatives. Her husband was a lovely Englishman.
I miss him and i miss my dear aunt too.

Traveling and taking photos and videos was very important in my life and still
is. Even that lately mostly in my own country as not much money...
I know how warm i can feel when i am spending time with right kind of people.
I like it. I do not want to spend anymore time with people that were either nasty
and or too negative.

I was teased at school and my parents were not the type of "oh my darling
our beloved daughter i wanna hug you" and so on.. I envy people that feel
like always loved, loved not only because of great success in school, but loved
as human beings.
I saw times my dad was not ok, was not saying ok things.. Times i had to go away
with my mother to be away from my childhoodhome. I hated my dad. I had to move
away as far as possible. I am glad i moved away. Getting distance from him was
one of the best things for me ever!

My dad was like "you could try to get a job where i live.. But you are dumb
😏" . How cruel is that to say to own daughter?! He had the nerve! ☹️ He
liked me only if i had good grades at school or if i helped him to clean away
things from wood when he built his precious big items...
My mother had to make long hours at work and go there with no car in weathers
of many kinds and had to stand her husband that was not nice when not sober.

Life has not been easy. I am not the first and not the last to have struggles
in life. I have felt like in heaven and like in the opposite place of heaven.
I have found jobs on my own. I have quit jobs i felt were too much for me for
example physically.

I express myself by poems and i also like to sing. I make videos. Sometimes i
laugh so much that tears come from my eyes. I appreciate life. I dream about
one day travelling to countries again that are more far away than Sweden for
example.

Well, there is a lot in my family, but I think I want to focus on my father’s
side for now, since my mothers side has a serial killer (who has disappeared
60 or 70 years ago) and a pervert who is currently in jail….. 😂

My dad’s side of the family is very, erm, how you say, CRAZY! there are a lot
of stories that go around, but first I want to show you what I’ve found out in
real life using my family tree and online research: my Great Grandfather, Ralph
Melensky was in WW2. While he was traveling back and forth to Germany, his friend
gave him a guitar and he taught himself to play it. He became one of the best
guitarists in Pennsylvania! So good, that he apparently was good friends with
Nashville players such as Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash’s manager tried to hire him
on many many occasions, but he refused. He enjoyed playing at the bar. I believe
he played there for more than 20 years until he got sick. (He also cheated on
his wife during this time and started an entire colony of other Melensky’s that
are somewhere in California now 😳)

Story time about Ralph!
At one point, He Went to the circus tent since it was in town, because he saw
an ad looking for someone to wrestle the strong man. He walked in and signed
his name, and he was going to get his money if he wrestled, lost or not. Before
the circus even started, the strong man looked out and saw him stretching and
getting ready and said, “I ain’t going out there! I’ll lose for sure!” And he
was so scared of being humiliated, that he left. Nobody but performers were in
the tent at this point. The manager walked up to him and said “sorry Ralph, strong
man left, I can’t pay you.” Ralph said “uh, no. I want paid. I signed my name,
and if I can’t wrestle, then I at least expect to be paid.” They didn’t pay him….
Long story short, the main beam in the circus tent was splinters in 5 seconds
and the tent was on the ground….. not 100% sure if this family story is true,
but it is fun 😂

Another time, his car inspector told him that his headlight was out and needed
paid extra since he replaced it. He had just replaced the headlight previously
so that wouldn’t happen. The inspector refused to let him leave, so he drove
through the garage door…. (This was when he was older after he retired from singing)

He won countless arm wresting fights against all the truckers who would go in
that bar. “I wasn’t ready” was the famous words of almost all the truckers he
beat 😂 all these stories take place Pittsburgh PA. Back when steel was just
getting big!

Anyway, to sum it all up, we have some serious anger issues and strength in our
roots… 😂

Almost all my ancestors are German, but the melensky family name comes from Austria.
I read all the boat records, and apparently my great-great-great grandpa Melensky
was looking for a long time and traveled all over the world. He came to the U.S
twice before moving his family here.

My family have been through the brunt of historical problems. Wars, the Great
Depression, ship-wrecks, car-wrecks, sickness, WW2, The Civil war, slavery (multiple
ancestors of mine were slaves.)

Among some of my other relatives, I had a confederate soldier, several pastors,
lots and lots of car mechanics, and a man who trained the midwestern Robin FOR
A LIVING 😂 if you look close at his photo, you will see the Robin perched on
his shoulder 😂 I’m also related to the man who started the store Kroger! I
have one ancestor named “Michael Jackson” which leads me to believe there is
some tie to the REAL jackson 5 family lol
I can go on for hours 😂

We were all mostly city-folk until my generation. Now we live in rural area Tennessee
running a farm for the first time in our U.S history!

Short story about my mom’s side, her dad was in a gospel group called “The Gospel-Aires”
and they traveled around the country and actually opened concerts for gospel
greats such as Jimmy Swagert! I have a few copies of their one album release,
and hope to collect more! There were only 500 produced and most of the, were
in PA. There were 7 members. 3 of them have passed away, and another is in jail.
the others are still alive and well.
