Why does bricklink collect sales tax on exports to the US from europe?
On the cbp website it says "Customs and Border Protection (CBP) does not collect
state sales tax on goods imported into the U.S."
Anyone can explain?

What they state is correct, CBP does not collect state sales tax, but BrickLink
being a Marketplace has to collect state sales tax on goods sold to USA customers.

Can you tell me where I can have information about that?
Everywhere I read says there are no taxes up to 800$ for imports into the US.

It's not an import tax! It's a sales tax like our VAT.

Exactly.

Sales taxes are local and their collections depend on the laws of each US State,
they aren’t federal like import duties / tariffs, so they aren’t collected or
verified by Customs.

Just search for ‘marketplace laws’ and you’ll find many sites explaining what,
why and how.

   like our VAT.

Not exactly ‘like our VAT’ but let’s not muddle the explanations

BL would be in trouble.

That’s the whole point of those laws:
— gouvernments can’t go after all the buyers who owe them each a few pennies
in taxes,
— but all those pennies add up to real money (see Superman III for reference),
— so they made the marketplaces responsible for collecting the taxes.

Once over a certain level of sales into a US state, larger remote sellers are
required to collect and remit state & local sales tax. US states have amended
their laws defining the Marketplace (e.g. BrickLink) as the seller for the purposes
of sales tax collection.

If BrickLink didn't comply, BrickLink would face legal consequences.

The $800 number is a duty. The buyer’s state of residence may change a sales
tax on the transaction. I think something like 45 out of 50 states collect that
now. BL collects/remits that for the sellers.

Lol

Thetefore every seller, according to their undividual statitory regulation/s
should include their terms in their splash - at the very minimum?

I can try...

Though Sylvain has expressed it well, I will add some further perspective.

First, you need to break from “what you know” from your experiences there within
the EU, to fully understand. Simply put, it’s a taxation of your buyer from their
own state government. In a federalist system of governance such as ours, each
state is sovereign: free to tax and to legislate as their people’s representatives
see fit within the guidelines of our nation’s Constitution, overseen by our Supreme
Court.

Essentially, you are dealing with 50 individual states when transacting with
any given US based BrickLink member. Each state with their own laws, taxes, law
enforcement, senators, representatives, cultures, even military to an extent.
In other words, a federalist version of a constitutional republic. Funny thing,
the contemporary idea of “democracy” is actually French. But after seeing it's
application and outcome, it wasn't included in the principles our nation
formation. Timing is everything, I guess

Sales tax is determined by where the buyer is located. Is has nothing to do
with the seller's terms.

I know I have to pay a fee to incur n export.
If sellers are willing to sell into a country that collects such a fee, if has
to be disclosed?

It is purely between the buyer and the country of import. Sellers need not concern
themselves with such matters, with the possible exception of those in Europe.
