| Hi there,
Recently noticed that my Buyers Privielges were Revoked for "Reason: Preventive
Action". I've never had a single issue over probably more than 10 years of
ordering, and have reached out to the help desk as instructed, but it's been
over a week and haven't heard back.
Extremely confused as to why I'd have my priveleges revoked when I haven't
had any issues with orders. I've been placing a reasonably high number of
orders, but just do a lot of building and am in fairly regular need of new pieces.
Would love to know if there's anything I can do to speed up being able to
order again!
Thanks - Nick

Lol? I mean, this is serious
Did you pay recent orders with PayPal Friends & Family?
Did you change Country and/or postal address multiple times recently?
Asked the seller better prices outside BrickLink?
Apart this - I really don't understand, but wished to help.
Anyway there must be something weird I don't/can't know about.
Think at your last transactions?
Wishing you this is solved soon.

And maybe Bricklink does this already (but I seem to doubt it), but maybe Bricklink
should offer a warning to buyers and sellers when changing their address that
it could result in privileges being revoked. Like flashing red letters before
hitting submit on an address change. Not saying that's the issue this time
but it has happened many times in the past where buyers changed their addresses
(as they had always done) and then had their privileges revoked. Open lines of
communication will solve nearly every problem on this site and in life. I was
going to say to have a message stating to contact the help desk before submitting
an address change but I think we know how effective that would be. Man, there
just really needs to be a far superior mode of communication between Bricklink
and it's members. And what really irritates me is that if it wasn't for
this constant communication fiasco, I'd have zero complaints with this website
because I darn well think it's the best website in the world.

I don't know - I guess (and hope) something's fishy so they had
to block an account.
I'm sure they don't like to earn less of their 3% margin.
But I really don't know, I tried to imagine cases, sincerely.

Oh shoot I have changed addresses a few times recently! I ordered parts for some
stuff directly to friends in the US (I'm in Canada). Figured it's more
logical to get the stuff sent to them directly vs getting it to me and then me
mailing them. Why would the address change get my buyer privileges provoked?
Is it against TOS?
And I definitely wouldn't have done it had their been any sort of warning
of this happening :'

It's highly suspect, it's what would've happened if someone compromised
your account.
Set back to your normal address.
Write to Help Desk explaining this.
Next time - ask your friend to at least open an account, and make the purchases
on his behalf with his account?

Or, depending on the state (with/without marketplace law for Sales tax, or when
you change from USA to Canada), it might be seen as avoiding sales tax.

I'd be durprised if it is that. Some dropshippers change their address (inc
country and sometimes continent) multiple times a day, especially in the run
up to Christmas when their sales elsewhere boom.

Hadn't been aware drop-shipping was a thing through Bricklink, wild!
I think it was four total address changes over a few months (first friend -
home - second friend - home). Too bad there were no warnings about it

I guess that does make sense, though I've only used 3 address total. I'd
understand if there were many addresses with it happening frequently, this feels
like a bit of overly cautious-ness (especially when it can't be easily rectified).
Oh well, will try the help desk again! Thanks for the info!

Nope! Only did it twice. Once to send some parts to a friend to build a MOC of
mine, once to send some torso's directly to someone doing some printing on

Again (and again and again), I just don't understand why a simple message
couldn't have been sent letting him know why his buying privileges were revoked.
Based on his feedback, seems like quite the problem-free person. So a quick message
from Bricklink explaining why the buying privileges were revoked along with a
quick explanation of the reasons for the revoking and I'm sure this issue
could have been cleared up in less than three minutes. But instead let's
just revoke a long time member privileges without a single explanation. I hope
no company every treats Bricklink the way Bricklink treats their customers.

Let's put it this way: No one really wants spend all day long working the
BrickLink help desk…
|
Fix the problem and no one would have to. If they closed your store you would
want them to.

One does not simply "fix" BrickLink…

What else can it be? Is there another way to look at their actions?

I don't think Admins are arrogant, there just aren't enough of them to
handle the workload;
|
Might be but they seem to have enough time to revoke buyers and sellers.
So, simply said, it should only take 1 e-mail extra (1 minute? Could even be
a standard text for a couple of reasons to revoke someone’s privileges) to let
a member know what made them do so.
I also understand that there's frustration, I'm
| a bit frustrated with different things on this site myself, but constantly dogpiling
onto them kills morale and doesn't help the situation - there's a difference
between constructive criticism and just straight up sh-tting on people cuz ur
upset
I think the issue is that whoever the community engagement person is just ditched
and decided not to log in since June, their job is to literally communicate with
us so we can at least feel like we're being heard lol
In other news, Russell said that there have been new admins hired and they'll
be starting next week; we don't know what actually goes on behind the scenes
either: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1373206

| Hi there,
Recently noticed that my Buyers Privielges were Revoked for "Reason: Preventive

There should be a warning system and better communication in place.
It really is not hard to fix.
And it does me head in why this isnt fixed after som many complaints. But from
experience selling stock photos, agencies work like this. Shoot first then ask
questions several weeks later, or not at all. None of this is a priority though
for any agency as long as the benjamins keep rolling in. They dont suffer from
losing a few buyers and sellers.
I just dont understand why Lego HQ doesnt step in. Communication on Lego.com
is infinitely better, not sure why they cannot translate that to BL.

| I would hope changing addresses isn't frowned upon. Finding rare pieces has
forced me to use a forwarding service as I keep running into stores overseas
that won't ship to the USA. So I use the forwarder address in these cases.
Maybe I should refresh myself in the rules to be sure this is ok..
