I thought the max weight for USPS First Class Shipping was 16 oz / a 1 lb not
13 oz?! What’s going on here?! I’m really not happy about this.

They say 13 oz, but the online sites usually allow 16 oz. The label may
even show 15.9oz, so that it's "under 16 oz".

I go to USPS.com to calculate the shipping costs for the orders I get. This one
order I’m working on weighs 14.4 oz and USPS First Class isn’t on the list of
shipping options. Isn’t there another website for calculating shipping costs
that will have USPS First Class shipping as an option?

Paypal shipnow or pirateship. I used to paypal only, then they switched to a
different platform, and now use pirateship. Easy, free, and discounted rates.

I’ve signed up for a pirateship account.

USPS controls USPS.com. They do not wish to allow commercial rate postage to
the great body of customers buying directly from them. If you want commercial
rate postage, you need to buy from Pirate Ship (a decent bunch of pirates, yaaar),
Ship Station (who has some issues), or possibly there are others.

You can only send up to 13oz with first class mail at retail prices. 13-16oz
is reserved for commercial services/customers. You would need to use a shipping
service to get access to the commercial plus pricing/weight tiers.

are you seeing this in a sellers shipping table? Some sellers have the rates
"higher" than they should because they are accounting for packaging weight.

I think my IC goes up to 13 or 14 ounces IIRC before it bumps it to priority,
just to protect me from undercharging.
